  Legible blimp

This small .txd file gives the Downtown blimp a legible version of the GASH
logo. The method I used is basically the same as the one I used to change the
.bmp file of the .txd file for the '57 Chevy (see the ReadMe file for the
Chevy).

I used higher resolution logos, one for day and one for night, on the .bmp
file. I used a higher resolution, 256 by 256 instead of 64 by 64 polygons, for
the .bmp file, too, not that I noticed any difference. The corresponding .dff
file blurs the logo a bit, but the modded version is still easier to read than
the logo of the default .txd file.

In doing this, I learned why the daytime logo has light shading, meant to look
like the reflection of sunlight, along the top. If you have Tommy look closely
at the blimp, such as with the Camera or sniper rifle scope, you can see waves
of graphical corruption on the blimp. I suppose you could alter the .dff file
to fix that, but I don't know how to do it. Putting light shading along the top
of the daytime logo minimizes the graphical corruption that appears there when
viewed from shorter distances, so I used a similar light shading for the top of
the modded daytime logo.

  Installation

Right click the Grand Theft Auto Vice City > models folder, click "Proper-
ties," and a "models Properties" menu appears. Un-check the box for "Read-only
(Only applies to files in folder)," click "Apply," and a "Confirm Attribute
Changes" menu appears with "Apply changes to this folder, subfolder and files"
checked--click "OK" and the menu disappears. Wait for the operation to finish
(which should only take a moment). Click "OK" and the "models Properties" menu
disappears.

  Download the IMG Tool.

Use "Run as administrator" to open the IMG Tool, click File, Open, direct the
IMG Tool to the models folder of your main game folder, and open gta3.img. The
menu fills with names of files.

Use Edit > Find to go to the dt_blimp.txd file and highlight it.

Use Commands > Delete to delete the dt_blimp.txd file,
then use Commands > Add to add the modded dt_blimp.txd file.

Use Commands > Rebuild Archive and wait for it to finish. Close the IMG Tool.

I've supplied a copy of the original dt_blimp.txd file in case you want to re-
vert to the original version.
