Some notes on "Max Pain's Modded GTA3 v2.0" by GTW

Thanks to Yemil Aragon (Max Pain/Nemo) for giving me permission to distribute
his "Max Pain's MODDED GTA3 v2.0" mod, which includes Yoyo's 1957 Chevrolet Bel
Air convertible (see the "1957ChevroletBelAirByYoyo" folder). At 86.2 MB, "Max
Pain's MODDED GTA3 v2.0" is beyond the size limit some web sites have for a save
game files package, but I can recommend it as an enjoyable way to see a big col-
lection of mods. It's available at the next link.

The files in the "SaveGameFiles" folder can be used with the unmodded game and
with "Max Pain's Modded GTA3 v2.0." The only problems I had completing missions
with Max Pain's mod were due to a couple of problems with the mod as noted in
the main folder "ReadMe" file--the Staunton TOYZ doesn't appear in the lot
northwest of the casino for some reason and you can't pick up both thieves to
complete the second mission, "The Thieves," for Marty Chonks because his Sentin-
el is replaced with a two door Subaru Impreza Rally.

Those missions are required for 100% completion of the game. You could re-
place the Subaru with a four door car. I recommend using my second save file
for a starter save for Max Pain's mod. That file has the accomplishments of my
starter save file plus an attempt at the Staunton TOYZ van mission, "Drive Misty
for Me" for Luigi to make Marty Chonks' missions available, and the first two
missions for Marty Chonks: "The Crook" and "The Thieves." Then just enjoy Max
Pain's collection as an enjoyable way to check out a lot of mods.

While enjoying the variety created by Max Pain's collection of mods, you can
see which ones you want to download from the Internet. Some are no longer
available that way, so you might extract them with the IMG Tool. I found YoYo's
1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, which Max uses to replace the Rumpo (I use it to replace
the Idaho), that way. See the "1957ChevroletBelAirByYoYo" folder I've included
for the Chevy.

  Other glitches I found:

The game froze some of the first times I tried to have Claude drive Skizot
Enigma's motorcycle (the replacement for the Diablo Stallion gang car) or
Mabefge's USAF F-16 (the replacement for the Dodo).

MrMilti's "The Wichita-Airport Bridge" doesn't appear. To correct this, you
could add

  IPL DATA\MAPS\ShoresideBridge.IPL

to the IPL section of data > gta3.dat. But I think Max Pain left it out de-
liberately because when I put it in the game began to freeze when I had Claude
jack vehicles. It might just be that the bridge is okay but adding it created
an overload of mods. See the "AdministrativeConsoleFiles" folder for files you
can add to the Administrative Console that add teleport locations and hotkey
combinations to it--a couple of the teleport locations are the areas the bridge
would connect.

The subway interior (except for the loading stations) doesn't appear. I don't
know the solution.

The mods disrupt the usual course of the target's boat for "Paparazzi Purge."
An easy solution is to send Claude on foot as close as possible to the boat then
have him destroy it with a couple of rockets from the Rocket Launcher.

The new model for Claude looks a bit thin to me, but the mod comes with
skins--the "VC Skin" (Tommy Vercetti) looks more like the original Claude to me.
Alternatively, you could use the "IMG Tool v2" by Spooky to save the .txd and
.dff files, and go to the "skins" folder to save the .bmp files, for Claude from
the regular "III" before installing the mod and use them to replace it.

After installing the mod, go to the main game folder > audio folder and start
the "gta3audio" tool. Click "File" "Open" and open "sfx SDT." You highlight
the name of an audio file also found in the audio folder and click "Edit" and
"Replace." After you've done this with all the files, "GTA III" will have a
variety of new sounds.
