  1. Yeah Hypecouncil ads get blocked easy. There is a way around it for webmasters :) . Oh and lol @ Chris:

Also, as I say to everyone in this day and age. If you have a passWORD, it's your own fault, especially if it is just a dictionary word. If you choose a passphrase or a combination of letters and numbers it's almost impossible to crack.

I have no sympathy for people who have shitty passwords and don't care if you get hacked.

You know that is so ironic considering you are one of them. Like I remember when YoungMaylay.com's email got hacked where the password was just "CJ". :D

  2. jt.jpgMost of you probably know lil' old Jack Thompson by now. Taking on the gaming industry, most importantly the GTA series, for years now. It seems that he just can't get enough of Take Two's Grand Theft Auto that he is starting to move over to the newest title in the series - Liberty City Stories. Thompson has petitioned Troy King, Attorney General of Alabama, to have GTA: Liberty City Stories declared "a nuisance".

One can not understand such claims from him as already JT himself is a nuisance to both him and every living human being on this planet. Well, according to the dictionary:

    Nuisance: a bothersome annoying person

Yep, that seems like him. Apparently JT is complaining that Take-Two is marketing what he describes as a "cop-killing game" on daytime T.V. during programs aimed at children. Firstly that doesn't mean anything at all. As far as I know the commercials for Liberty City Stories that is displayed on the tv doesn't contain violence or anything else that will offend those little children. Besides it is not as if they are going to get up, walk to a local retailer and say: "Whadup G, give me a copy of Liberty City Stories".

What he will do next is a mystery and Dave Thomas from online mag The Escapist describes it very well:

Keeping track of Jack's activities is like trying to document an evening of binge drinking for an entire fraternity on a lost weekend in Vegas.

  3. Earlier this week a few news articles were seen on numerous gaming websites about the next GTA for next-gen consoles being an 8 month exclusive for the PS3. Most of them being from fairly unknown websites, which already raised a few red flags. However as always a rumor like this should have a starting point and throughout the days I sniffed around the web to find it.

By the looks of it, it must have started between PS3 Updates and Gamer Andy. An editor called Clay was contacted by an unknown source about the next GTA for next-gen consoles (otherwise known as GTA4) being an 8 month exclusive for Sony's Playstation 3. He appeared to have said that both Sony and Take Two Interactive will announce this closely to Xbox 360's release.

That was October and two days ago he was contacted by one of the companies mentioned in the previous article (possibly Take 2) and they confirmed to him that it is in fact true. This comes as no surprise though as throughout the years Take Two and Sony had a good relationship when it came to Grand Theft Auto. GTA: San Andreas for instance was a 7 month exclusive for the Playstation 2.

So if you plan to buy yourself an Xbox 360 later this month, bear in mind that there is a big possibility you will have to wait a very long time after GTA's PS3 launch to play it on your 360. For now we'll just have to keep an eye on Take Two's press release page.

  4. It seems that the force was too strong last week for Take 2's PSP breakthrough, GTA: Liberty City Stories. It's been almost nothing out of the ordinary the past few years for a GTA title to shoot right up to the top of the charts in opening week. This year however Lucasarts' Star Wars: Battlefront II managed to overcome GTA: Liberty City Stories by being the number one selling game in the UK.

It is not all bad though for GTA: LCS. The game is currently the top selling PSP game in the country and it had sold more copies than Grand Theft Auto: 3 on the PS2 did on its opening week. You have to remember that the PSP only recently launched in the UK and Star Wars: Battlefront II is available on the PS2, Xbox and for PC, which more people own than they do PSP's.

As the days go by to this years christmas holiday season GTA: Liberty City Stories will most likely still be at the highest point of the charts around the world!

  5. <img src="http://www.thegtaplace.com/images/news/goldenjoystickawards05.gif" border="0" align="left">Winning awards is a very common thing for a Grand Theft Auto nowadays. Today GTA: San Andreas stole the show yet again at this years Golden Joystick Awards held at Park Lane Hilton Hotel in London. Rockstar's epic title took home 5 awards including "Best PS2 game of the year" and "Best Sountrack". The following awards were given to the game:

Playstation 2 Game of the Year

    Best Soundtrack

Hero of 2005 - Carl Johnson from GTA: San Andreas

Villain of 2005 - Officer Tenpenny from GTA: San Andreas

Nuts Magazine's Ultimate Game of 2005

More on the results of the show should be up later in the day at the official website for the Golden Joystick Awards

  6. My eyes hurt and so do my ears. You could've started filming when you got to the stairs, the video and file would've been ALOT smaller. And less annoying. And people wouldn't be able to see how terrible you are at driving

And modders making a spawn point? You expect them to edit the files and then get them back onto a UMD? Riiight.

    OWNED!!

  7. Take 2 Interactive have provided a financial update with some pretty interesting news in it. As always the full press release is on their site if you want to read the whole thing.

Also in the press release was a little insight into the reasons behind the European release delay.

Take-Two is reducing its fiscal 2005 guidance to reflect several factors, including the movement of the launch of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for the PSP™ handheld entertainment system in certain European territories from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2005 to the first quarter of fiscal 2006, due to unexpected delays in final product testing and submission. Shipments of the title have been made to the UK in the fourth quarter, with the title expected to ship in the remaining European territories in late November.

So the end of November is unfortunately how long we have to wait until we can play the game. But don't get too upset, they also announced a brand new GTA title for the PSP, due to launch during next year. The title of the game still remains a mystery.

For Fiscal 2006, we are well positioned for the opportunities to extend our brands across the large installed base of current generation platforms, as well as next generation hardware including the two previously announced Rockstar Games titles for the PSP, one of which is a new Grand Theft Auto title.

By the sounds of it we will be enjoying 2 new Grand Theft Auto's next year. Hopefully one for the Playstation 3 and definitely one for the Sony PSP!

While it may be a bit early to discuss this new portable title, we have made it its own forum for discussion in our newly upgraded Invision Forums. We've also made a topic for discussion of the game's title, I've started by listing some domains owned by Rockstar and their possible uses (such as gtamiami.com). Please read that and post your own thoughts.

  8. The Liberty City Stories section of YourPSP.com has recently been updated to reveal the game will feature Game Sharing. For those of you who are not familiar with game sharing, it means you and a friend can share one copy of Liberty City Stories and play at the same time. It is also very likely that the multiplayer feature will also be available during game sharing.

However, is this a huge feature? The PSP has a mere 11mbps wireless network connection, and it surely does not have enough RAM to store the entire game map and everything else encompassed in it.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it plays.

Thanks to Scooby for finding this little snippet of information.

  9. Gamesradar have today added an exclusive preview for Liberty City Stories that focuses on the side missions for Liberty City Stories. Apart from the usual Insane Stunt Jumps Gamesradar has posted info on the all new side missions that includes Trashmaster, Karmageddon, Noodle Punk and Car Salesman (yes you heard me). They have also posted 5 brand new screenshots.

Karmageddon: Steal a fire truck and then cause as much chaos as you can.

Noodle Punk: Grab a scooter at the noodle restaurant and start making deliveries.

Car Salesman: Earn a commission by taking customers on successful test drives.

Trashmaster: Race across Liberty City to collect all the dumpsters within the time limit and drop it off at the Junkyard.

Insane Stunt Jumps: Use the PCJ600 bike and other new vehicles to soar over the ramps, hills and jumps found around Liberty City.

*UPDATE* IGN have also added a side missions preview, they look at some different ones, including the following:

AVENGING ANGELS - Put an end to violence in Liberty City, help keep the streets safe.

SCOOTER SHOOTER - Toni and his friendly scooter driver have to take out as many targets as possible within three minutes. He drives, Toni shoots with a Tec-9 with unlimited ammo. Wreak havoc on targets within the city; get as many as you can before time expires.

BIKE SALESMAN - Show the customer exactly what that machine is capable of, but only show off the kind of ride they're looking for!

SEE THE SIGHTS BEFORE YOUR FLIGHT - Get a picture of the tourist in front of their favorite landmark, but make sure to get them back in time for their flight! Quality counts, great snapshots will be rewarded with extra cash.

They also have some new screenshots with their article.

  10. Firstcom music recently announced the theme song for Liberty City Stories "March Popakov Remix".

FirstCom Music has announced that "March Popakov Remix," a FirstCom-licensed track written by John Cacavas and produced by Danger Mouse, was selected as the theme song for the video game Grand Theft Auto—Liberty City Stories. "We are very excited about this placement," says Sam Kling, vice president, Film and TV music for FirstCom. "We believe that FirstCom can bring a lot to the table in the way of quality music for the gaming industry. We are looking forward to expanding our presence in this market over the next year." In addition to theme placement in the video game, the remix will be featured in all television advertising for the game worldwide.

MTV.com also recently had their opportunity to play Liberty City Stories. Most interestingly from their preview is the info on the soundtrack for the game.

This "PSP" edition will feature 10 radio stations, including the return of the hip-hop Playback FM, featuring '90s stalwarts such as Mobb Deep and N.O.R.E. spun by New York's DJ Clue. Also on the dial are the franchise-familiar reggae-fest KJAH, stations for world music, classical and drum and bass, along with one devoted to the works of Giorgio Moroder, an influential electronic-music producer who also composed the soundtrack to 1984's "Flashdance." Two stations feature music entirely composed by Rockstar North, the developer of the console "GTA" titles. Another frequency is all talk, which will likely be the game's funniest.

I emailed rockstar about the modding of GTA:SA Second Edition. Here is their response.

"Thabk you for your e-mail and the answer to your query is yes there is no

known way of been able to modify the game in any way shape or form but

thank you for your e-mail again."

Just thought I should share that with you guys.

mmm..... why do I find that hard to believe? Anyway chris82 I was talking about SAn Andreas V.2 which you can buy in stores, not the 1.1 patch.

  12. Even though PEDS is my favourite show of all time, I completely forgot to post about it when it launched. Well it is never too late or too early to post about them and a good time to introduce it from this site is when they just released "Just A Short 4 - Hot Coffee".

Ok, so you might ask what the hell is PEDS? Well it is based on the popular Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and using the wonderfull art of machinima they create a TV series with pedestrians of the city. They are already at episode 8 and are becoming more and more popular in both the GTA world and the machinima community.

They recently released a short where the PEDS discuss some hot coffee (yes, you know what i'm talking about) which is totally funny . If you think you can do the same to what the great folks over at PEDS are doing, why not download Vice City and Liberty City studios over here . On their site you can download all episodes in both low and high resolution versions. If you are fortunate enough to be a PSP owner why not download the PSP formatted versions and watch it on there?

PEDS Video: Click here [ thanks Jordan ]
