  1. Which makes me wonder if this was a miscommunication error on Sonys part. Normally these pre-load things come a few days before the game comes out, because what is the point to cracking the data when I will have the game in 24 hours. So I think it is safe to say that the pre-load never should have gone live this early (Sonys error). And Rockstar could of done a better job of as you say scrambling the package.

  2. So the digital pre-orders were available for pre-load on PSN the other night (it's now been pulled). And you all know how the rest of the story goes from here. People were able to extract files from the pre-loaded data revealing a whole wealth of stuff, including all the radio stations and songs in the game (reportedly up to 30 hours of music). We also have all the cutscene audio from the game leaked, Weasel news audio, and the main theme. The cutscenes evidently reveal massive, massive spoilers including the ending to the game.

My take on this is that Sony fucked up big time, yes the pre-load was supposed to happen, but not a month away from the game's release. WTF. Seriously what did they expect, this is one of the most rabid fan bases out there.

Not making the same mistake I made with Red Dead Redemption. This has made my hype drop and I'm weary of what I visit now. Do you think Rockstar will move up the release date? Not like it would change anything really, the damage has been done for the most part, now its only a matter of wading through all this mess in hopes that we don't get spoiled. (yeah right lol)

    Brace yourselves people!

Full disclosure: because I am not privy to the latest on all of this, some of what I said may be incorrect, we will see in the next few hours what is real and what is fake. So in the meantime this is just what I have read from multiple sources (namely GTAforums).

Edit: Looks like some of the big media outlets are starting to pick this up. IGN has an article on their front page, with all the radio songs in

game. smh. Videos are being taken down on youtube now. Take-Two ninjas are going to have a busy couple weeks ahead of them.

  3. This whole achievement thing reminded me how it sucks for the moderators/admins not only on TGTAP, but on the other fansites as well, to have the game spoiled for you in order to ensure the forums are spoiler free. I won't be sticking around once the game is in the wild, but we appreciate the job you guys have to do. Thanks

  4. F***ing Xbox, well I guess this was inevitable. Haven't seen the full list, but they sound really creative, classic Rockstar.

The medals are from Red Dead Redemption right? You could replay any mission you completed and each mission was given a ranking.

  5. I'm wondering about the GTA Online properties. The apartments and shit.. can only one person own them at a time? Or did they not mention that?

No I don't believe they did. But I would bet that anyone can own a piece of an apartment or property, with their own unique interior. So the entire apartment itself is not yours, but rather one unit or section. Thats the way I see it.

  6. That's one thing I always disliked about GTA: saved cars were one-off use only. I'm happy it's changing, because honestly all the "unique" cars I've collected in GTA IV and its Episodes are pretty much just sitting there collecting dust because I don't want to lose them.

I don't mind microtransactions really. It allows me to buy DLC that I want and not get stuff I don't want. For example, say I want that military Patriot with roof-mounted machine gun but don't want the new "Jefferson" town car, know what I mean? But as much as it may pain me to do so, I'll be holding off on DLC for the eventual Game of the Year edition (because let's be honest here, GTA V has pretty much already won GotY  ) that includes everything on disc.

Same here cars for example like the Futo GT which were rare to find, I was always careful of not losing them. So I agree its good they added this in, especially now that the cars will actually be unique with all the customizing.

I guess I just have a sour view on microtransactions, although I understand why people like it. I personally don't want to spend my cash on little things for the game, if it is not in the game when I buy it than I don't need it. Thats one of the reasons I didn't like the Collector's Edition that much.

  7. From CVG

You can buy cars, just like you can (in the real world). Or you can steal them if the mod shops are prepared to dabble with them. If they are, you can spray them and change the plates. If they're not prepared to do that, when the cops spot you in a stolen car, you'll get a Wanted level.

If I remember correctly this was done in Mafia 2, it made for some tense gameplay trying to avoid the detection of the cops. Some people may not like this because it is entirely new to the series, but I feel it will really add a lot to the gameplay. It will give the game that edge, like you are really a criminal and actions have consquences in the game world.

I'm liking the sound of that. Hopefully cops will be more sensitive like they were in Saints Row 2 and will pursue you if you drive recklessly enough and/or knock over fences, light poles, etc.. I'd also like for them to pursue if you run red lights (like in Driver) as well, but that might be a little too much for most people.

Things like races and chases are definitely going to be much more tense and unpredictable, though.

Edit: Am I reading the CVG page correctly, here? You can insure your car? :wtf: Is this going to be the final GTA game or something, because at this point I don't know what they can do down the line for GTA6 to top this...

Yeah makes sense, if I am going to drop a million dollars on a fancy jet I wouldn't be happy if I were to lose that in an unexpected accident or something. ;)

After this I am sure whatever they decide to do will be gold. Perhaps a trip down to Vice City. GTA Online will obviously be apart of their future plans going forward too. That is going to be interesting to see where they go with that. Regular DLC or maybe microtransactions. The latter of which I have no interest in.

    Also

One thing you did confirm was that minigames like tennis were available - does that mean you can play four-player tennis?

That's a good question. Four-player tennis is something we've never even thought about, you know that? Shite. No, tennis is only two-player. Can I write that down?! (Goes off to get a pen and paper.)

    Lol

  9. After playing the Last of Us I said that was the most awe-dropping game I have ever played, but GTA V as already eclipsed that for me. Everything about this game is beautiful, from the incredible vistas, to the use of coloring. Now give me that artwork ASAP Rockstar! I need it.

  10. Love Trevor's facial expression in that strip club. Franklin with chop looks great, and I wonder what Michael is listening to. The three amigos look perfect, great job Rockstar!

The boat name appears to be a reference to the Scottish pop band Deacon Blue, they released a popular song named Dignity in the 80s.

Not my find, but pretty cool.

  11. I won't lie, I am gulity of spending more time on the GTAforums. I have never bothered to join though. Quite a lot of the older members obviously don't come around as much, or some seem to just have left. There was a time I think that I didn't come here for a year or even longer, but I am back now. Who knows? That period between 2001 and 2004 must have been incredible to get the three GTA games within such a short span of time, that could have something to do with it, one of the drawbacks for fans, of having a five year long development period, people leave. But Rockstar has other amazing games and I think the GTA franchise is stronger than it has ever been, GTA V looks like Rockstar's best game ever. So this should be the time people will be coming back.

  12. I have some ideas. For starters I don't think the next game will return to Vice City, that locale was unqiue due to the time period, modern day Miami is just ehhh... San Francisco has some really fantastic scenery, but other than that I would put it in there with modern day Miami. Which leads me to think they will do a new city, maybe Chicago/midwest, or another older setting like 1970s Las Vegas. Could also be another state - Texas perhaps.

Still it is way to early to begin thinking about the next GTA. Whatever it will be it looks like they have set the bar tremendously high with V.

  13. I would bet good money on a PC version.

This was posted by Rockstar, but since has been taken down.

Rockstar Toronton did the port for IV though, but if Max Payne is any indication they haven't forgotten about PC users. I think a May - June release for PC is plausible, 7 - 8 months after September.

    Source.

  14. The one thing from the past that I wonder about most recently while looking back on the long journey to this point is .... What of Ned Luke?! Wouldn't people be keeping tabs on what he's actually doing to figure out if he's the Micheal character, and perhaps, how soon someone's credit will appear on IMDB??

No matter, the harder decision I'm still faced with is whether to spend the most money getting my copy of this GTA issue?!?

IMDb says he was in Boardwalk Empire, looks like a very minor role, but hopefully he and the other two actors get some more exposure after GTA V comes out. I remember seeing Ned Luke's cheerios commerical a couple years back, who would of ever thought he would be the protagonist of GTA. What a small world eh?

I think I might upgrade my standard edition to Special after seeing the gameplay video, so hyped! That steelbook case will come in handy in the long run, my IV case is feeling its age.

I got one myself last week and am showing off the box art side. It is a pretty cool poster. I also got the one with the hot female cop arresting the hooker on one side and Franlin with Chop on the other, some months back. Next time I go in, they'll probably have something else GTA-related to give me for free, too. I get all kinds of free shit from my GameStop. :innocent:

Yeah its fantastic, I have the box art side framed and hanging on my wall next to my bed. I'm not the kind of person to hang posters around my house, but this just looks so good, with the art direction and colors I made an exception.

  15. 2nd link has an error.

In addition to the many cosmetic customization alterations such as body kits, paint jobs/finishes, wheels, exhaust tips, window tints, tire smoke color, bull-bars, extra lights, and lots of other extra accessories, we have modifications that will affect gameplay and vehicle performance. Some of the modifications that affect gameplay include brakes, engine tuning, suspension, horns, bulletproof tires, panel armor, and of course, a general repair! There are more than 1,000 modifications in total.

On the topic of customization, I think the ability to tune the car should downplay any worries that the driving will be neutered. R* said they want to make the gameplay as dynamic as possible so it doesn't make sense that they would make the driving arcadey, that is the opposite of what you would want. I really hope it has depth to it, the modifications allude to that possibly, but I want to hear more from people who have played it. Say what you want about IV's driving, but it doesn't hold your hand which makes you have to work to get away from the cops. If they go all Saints Row on our ass, then what is the point of having smarter cop AI when I don't have to work hard on mastering the driving.

  16. The King is BACK! It has been amazing to witness how far Rockstar has come since the beginning of this gen with Table Tennis all the way to Red Dead and now V.

    Oh those

    . So good.

Via Game Informer: Grand Theft V Q&A: Gun Combat and Customization

They are trying to make everything as dynamic and fluid as possible. Great news to hear. And an interesting bit from the customization article is that some car modifications can affect gameplay including brakes, engine tuning and suspension!

  17. They have done it. Holy Shit! Game of the Forever!

    Edit:

Just imagine the reviews. Can it surpass IV on metacritic? Probably not, but 98 doesn't seem to far off, if Rockstar can pull this off without any bugs or game breaking errors, what a triumph.
