  1. Just a guess here but most file names that have dvx in them are directx related. Try updating your directx and if that don't work grab some paper and write down that filename exact so we can help you.
  2. From what I gather you can run all over before setting foot into the RED RING OF DEATH? You might should try going into the police station and saving a game. This will at least give you the option to load a game instead of starting off new all the time. There are other save locations at other police stations the only bug (see below) is all the way over in Las Venturas. I am getting mixed reviews, some say they are playing it no problem others are looking a bit puzzled. Over on the "other forum" someone said they had issues with the audio "SCRIPT" file and it played after the original was put back. So on the GTA Garage you will find the optional download of the raw audio wav libraries. Try running Alci's GUI for SAAT on the original SCRIPT. I hate to go there but I know you are a VISTA user, and I don't know if VISTA/XP is the difference? But if you are willing, try to do the following to see what happens: 1. Run Alci's GUI on my SCRIPT to decompile it into wav. Did it work? 2. Add the libraries from the GTA Garage. Did that work? 3. Run Sanny Builder on the MAIN.SCM to decompile and recompile. Did it work? For anyone debugging the main script: I managed to track down one bug and ALL bugs will be fixed in PRO if I get as much input from people as possible. BUG: Randomly crashing entering the Las Venturas Police Station. BUG FIX: I missed loading and checking a Banshee model in the impound. To repair the file edit the following in Sanny Builder: Search for this line: 0674: set_car_model #BANSHEE numberplate "_JOSHUA" Pop this in right above it: Model.Load(#BANSHEE) :IMPND_JOSH_CAR wait 0 if Model.Available(#BANSHEE) jf @IMPND_JOSH_CAR Otherwise a "work around" solution, is you will need to arrive in a Banshee at the station for the model to be available or not go there at all. Hey I am not perfect... JAB
  3. That is meant to install it and make back up copies for you. So far the other forums report crash on the first mission may be files in the wrong locations. I hope you read my help docs? Make certain all 4 files copied into their directory. C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\text\american.gxt C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\audio\SFX\SCRIPT C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\data\script\main.scm C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\data\script\script.img If you used the installer you should also see: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\text\american.tbk C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\audio\SFX\SCRIPT.tbk C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\data\script\main.tbk C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\data\script\script.tbk These are your backups. I don't know what effects will occur using other mods with this. JAB
  4. The PRO version will be smaller but won't contain the audio files. Any bugs you find be sure to put them here. I will address as many as I can and hopfully other modders will find errors I missed. So far the only known bug is a random game crash as you enter the Atrium or LVPD. But no mission requires you to go to either location. You can save the game inside the LSPD up by the desks and there are a few custom safe houses. Anyone posting a bug or crash please tell me as much detail as you can. Thanks, JAB
  5. Version 1 says nothing on the menu about version, but version 2 has a version listed on the menu. If you purchased the game recently then it is most likely version 2. However if you purchased it from a download site like Direct2Drive or Steam you have version 3 and there is noway to mod version 3. Go to the download section and get the downgrade patch. If you are running Vista you need to install your game on the desktop to modify it. XP is fine where you put it. Install the patch in the same directory as your gta_sa.exe and run the patch. Now from my point of view if you are having this much trouble just doing the downgrade... why on Earth do you want to mod? JAB
  6. I am putting it up on the garage in 15MB chunks if that helps. They limit uploads to 20MB so I spanned the volumes. I am using Grand Pa's internet today. It is uploaded on this site waiting someone's approval. Edit: It is there now and all in one file. Wireless is great unless you live somewhere it gets a lot of rain... like Michigan.
  7. The mod is complete, 57 MB download 24 MB download here: Download for The GTA Place GTA Garage There is also a 16MB Audio Fix (if your game crashes at the beginning of mission 1) see the tutorial below on how to use it. If you can't download from here or File Front I have it posted on GTA Garage as well. My Dad is having ntework problems with the LAN and said the new part should arrive on Monday. If you have any bugs let me know below. The program has some random crashes due to characters doing odd ball things, but they seem rare. I will add more download links as they become available. Feel free to upload this mod to any server you like. You don't need my permission to mod my mod. I did this for you to learn it has little to nothing to do with my ego. JAB
  8. Ok Butters! there will be an "official release" of the JOE distribution by or before the 1st of August. I don't know what is going on with my PC or maybe file front but I have been experiencing upload errors. The JOE install will consist of an installer program that makes backups of your files then installs the 4 needed to play the game. Script audio is by far the largest but will make more sense unless you are deaf. My only gripe about the installer is the loading bar seems to stall out at 25% then a few moments later jumps to 100%. Vincent is looking over his source code. If you don't want to use the installer then you can manually install the 4 files. That should satisfy anyone who only desires to play the 20+ missions. For those of you wanting the source with documentation that will be uploaded later in the month as the PRO distribution. It will be a much smaller package and won't include audio files or the american.gxt but does detail out how I went about making this monster. Should you desire to add missions by all means that is what this is all about. I don't want to hear how hard or easy a mission was to finish. I just want to inspire you to develop new missions. This will be it for a while and I will get this uploaded by this weekend either here or the garage or somewhere and you will hear about it. JAB NOTE: This is no longer a WIP so a new topic has been made here: Tenpenny Stories
  9. I would have to disagree, Morrowind has a lot more objects in the game than GTA does. Morrowind has so much more detail; for example I can steal a fork or plate then sell those items at a shop. I haven't played Oblivion yet so I can't comment on it. Yes, I always felt the scale was a bit off.
  10. hey there is a tc for san andreas at (http://files.filefront.com/Full+Conversion+San+Andreas20/;4744430;/fileinfo.html) hope i dont get banned for showing you guts this. but its real cool. every car is modded and all signs and dtuff but its real large. 600 mb or so.. Why would you get banned, it's just a mod? @Get Fucked: I'm finishing a 20 mission pack but what it sounds like to me you want a cleo mod to hack the camera?
  11. People like looking for this stuff because it isn't a waste of time but a hobby. I know if you run the game using a stripped main.scm you will get only the what the engine delivers and nothing more. Every skeptic, will say "IF YOU CAN'T FIND IT IN THE MAIN.SCM IT DOESN'T EXIST.". Well the bashed up vehicles parked around the Back O Beyond are still there. They spawn from the engine and not the mission coding. Also many programmers love to solve puzzles and they also love to make them. Hidden puzzles and secret messages don't always take on the form of discernible code. NSA cryptologists have their hands full with all sorts of crap on the internet. The very type of person who loves discovering codes and hidden meanings is a cryptologist. I would never tell someone it is waste of time sifting through the sand looking for clues. It could lead to a great job some day. http://www.nsa.gov/kids/index.htm JAB
  12. It only takes about 3 lines to make a park car generator. Decompile your Main.SCM with Sanny Builder and look around line number 24014; 09E2: $2765 = parked_car_generator_w_numberplate #GREENWOO 59 34 0 alarm 0 door_lock 0 0 10000 plate "GROVE4L_" at $138 $139 $140 angle $141 0A17: set_parked_car_generator $2765 flag 1 014C: set_parked_car_generator $2765 cars_to_generate_to 101 This is Sweet's car you will notice the plate reads "GROVE4L" the under score is used instead of spaces and 8 is max. To change the location x y z you would replace the variables $138 $139 $140 with numbers if you like using the player's coordinates from a trainer or the Sanny Builder can give you the player's location with the game running using Ctrl+ALT+1 The game uses variables because Sweet's car is not always parked infront of his house. To break it down; $2765 is the variable used to store information about Sweet's car. #GREENWOO = Model used 59 = primary color (-1 uses random color) 34 = secondary color 0 = Doesn't belong to player (1 = true) alarm 0 = No alarm (1= true) door_lock 0 = Not Locked 0 = unknown 10000 = $value plate "GROVE4L_" at $138 $139 $140 = X Y Z location angle $141 0.0 to 360.0 degrees The last 2 lines make the car available in the game. Now if you were to replace the #GREENWOO part with #RHINO sweets car would be a rhino, but I know his missions would replace it with the greenwood. JAB
  13. All the "patch" does is overlay the bytes from version 1.0 exe on top version 2.0 In short, the "patch" is just a copy over of version 1 without giving away the complete version 1 exe. I believe if you use the same patch maker kit on your version 3 Sherm and have the template set for ver 1 then you could make a ver 3 downgrade patch. But you need both the original ver 1 and ver 3 executable. No other files are effected by the 3 downgrade. However, if R* made version 3 different in other areas is an unknown I am just speaking from the experience I have with my version 2 downgrade.
  14. This is why I never discuss my religion or politics, they lead to fear. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. I sense a disturbance in the force. JAB
  15. The problem most VC users have with Sanny Builder is the setup. Make sure your VC icon is showing in the lower right corner. If not click the icon and choose the GTA:VC icon. Sanny is based on the Barton Waterduck so it is kind of the developed version just different developers. JAB
  16. From the pictures it looks like you have the axis rotated incorrectly for the chassis. In the Zmodeler the model might look great and the chassis is on the frame. But the little dummy point with the RGB axis lines are not rotated in the correct direction. That is my thinking anyway. Looks interesting.
  17. DAMN!! I was just here to ask if anyone knew why I couldn't get on there. I am sure they must have made backups, my Dad can't fart without making a backup. If it is gone off the net for good... we will just have to rebuild. There are a lot of uber modders on that forum and they (Zaz PatrickW etc..) have data stored. The info won't go away even if the dot com is gone. JAB
  18. Well I guess your code is going to need trigger. The trigger could be getting close enough to the car or a manual trigger from the player using a key. But as to your linking cars together the code above is the only one I know.
  19. So this is to replace the Patriot? Or you are just using that as the base for your 3D? As far as CLEO (I don't know if this works for all vehicles or not) I used the following code to attach the BAGGAGE to the BAGBOXA which can already be done in game so you might be looking at messing with the HANDLING.CFG file and not CLEO at all. 13@ = Car.Create(#BAGGAGE, -821.3815, -2442.865, 68.9761) 14@ = Car.Create(#BAGBOXA, -817.3062, -2452.05, 72.3128) Car.Angle(13@) = 53.68 Car.Angle(14@) = 53.68 0893: put_trailer 14@ on_cab 13@ I haven't tried opcode 0893 with other vehicles. I am thinking your 3D model will need a "misc_a" pivot point in the hierarchy table to attach stuff. Open the BAGGAGE.DFF in Zmodeler if you don't understand. Then you will need to alter the HANDLING.CFG file. I don't believe there are any CLEO solutions since the model and the handling define this ability.
  20. I suppose my brother is a film maker, we both made a DVD together www.evolchild.com We occasionally get orders from the web not as much as we used to, he made most of the sales at conventions. Not that you can't see this on YouTube the DVD was just our way of allowing people to see all 20+ episodes in a better format than You Tube can deliver. He sent the footage to a company in San Fransisco that did a production run of 100 DVDs for us. He made over cost and we have been giving them away as gifts too. Evol Child is a digitally animated show based in the near future 2020 (I think) and we play ourselves. The first episodes are not well made, but we nailed a few. The plot is two brothers move to Mars to escape global warming. You can see all 20+ episodes on You Tube. Vincent plans to add more shows in the future. JAB
  21. This thread is more or less for my sake and I apologize to anyone who came into it by mistake. You see recently Filefront decided to just blow away ALL my images I had linked to the tutorials I made. What can you say about free file hosting? So basically if I wrote a tutorial I have to find them and upload new images or hope I have them on the hard drive. This thread is just my way of organizing those tutorials. By all means free to poke around and hopefully you won't leave empty handed. Mission coding Retexture Peds Made Easy Fixed. 1st Person Mode Editing Tags Fixed. Expanding the Garage Fixed. Trainer Tutorial Fixed. Cut Scene Tutorial Custom Car Paint Jobs Repairing Well that's enough for now, I will edit this post so it won't get bumped. If you find any tutorials I haven't listed above that are my work missing images just post the link below. Thanks, JAB Thanks Sarge, for the complement but they have a sticky on tutorials and one of my best is in there. That's good enough for me.
  22. Happy birthday Steam! May you have many more to come. Where the heck is Macedonia? I was never any good at geology.
  23. Cell phones don't have enough juice to kill you in the tub. The AC adapter on most cell phones only runs 3.5 to 6 volts DC and half an amp. Even if it was plugged into a wall outlet you would have just lost your cell phone not your life. The girl's laptop must have had the AC power supply inside and not external. JAB
  24. That's ok dude, no harm no foul. My brother is looking into this right now: http://www.tommti-systems.com/ It is german software called "3D Analyze" and it spoofs what kind of graphics card you are using through Direct X. I fooled with it a bit. I ran SA in wireframe mode it looks weird. But I don't think it will be a perfect fix, you still need a pretty good card to play games. JAB
  25. I believe the 80 Gig is the backwards compatible one? If so I was told they don't make them any more. JAB
