You might be right actually, Xbox has been stylised in quite a few different ways. It's all caps on the product itself, but seems to be Xbox on the website and in any official texts now.
What's wrong with Blu-ray support though? It's pretty logical they'd support that as the physical media, since HDDVD is now defunct. I don't see how this is either a good or a bad point. It's just something they had to do really. You can't fit big games on DVDs any more.
Required internet is stupid yes. Windows 8 style OS... not sure on that. If it's like the PC version then yeah bad move, if it's modified to suit gamepad/Kinect use then maybe that will be ok.
BTW, the "leaked" 720 specs were supposedly part of an experiment into how gaming media reported stories without fact-checking anything, not sure if that was true or yet but if so we don't really know anything about it.

Microsoft do make some incredibly bizarre decisions regarding their products. At the moment the trend is NOT to tell everyone about how awesome their products are, no, it's to attack their rivals. A move which is petty, and doesn't instill trust in potential users. Take Bing and Outlook for example:
Bing - Google's results are irrelevant
Outlook - Gmail spies on you all the time
The article is a bit long but I do agree with some of the points he makes. Although the fact he consistently and incorrectly spelled Xbox as "xBox" was a little weird, especially as he claims to be one of the founders of the project, you'd think he'd know the proper trademark. Mind you he can't even capitalise 'I' most of the time so I guess writing isn't one of his strong points.
Agree with him on all the UI issues. I've never really liked any iteration of the Dashboard from the original one to the current one. The current one does actually have a nice design but it is far too cluttered, and the fact it has ads on it sucks, especially if you are a Gold member. Being ad-free for Gold members should be touted as one of the reasons to get it.
What he said about the indie gaming / money-making aspect of it was interesting... yes it's a bit of a dumb setup the way it is at the moment with it costing so much and having MS do no promotion whatsoever. But it's more than Sony and Nintendo do, who, as far as I know, don't even have anything similar, or if they do it must suffer from the exact same problems since I've never heard anything on it and as of late I use my PS3 more than I do my 360.
He seems to feel very strongly about pushing it away from hardcore gamers - I suppose that's the way it's going anyway (Apple TV - if it will feature apps/games - will almost certainly only get casuals) but the console was originally primarily marketed as a games console, and I'm pretty sure a hefty amount of their revenue still comes from mainstream gamers.
Anyway, his conclusion makes sense. They need someone, or a team of people, who understand what's needed for it to succeed.
His "one living-room device" argument is still only relevant in the US though. NONE of the services that people would actually want and pay for (looking at you Netflix) are any good outside of the US, which such heavily reduced content availability it's just not worth the subscription fee. So I'd say the fault isn't 100% Microsoft's, but also in part everyone else involved.

Can't wait. I love the F&F films. Over the top and unrealistic, but it's just pure fun really.

The reaction is to be expected these days. That's unfortunately what the community has become.
I'm actually more surprised (read: surprised, not angry) that they chose not to release the box art regardless of any delay. They were presumably ready for it at the start of the month, I don't see how any major component of it would change between now and then that they would have to delay that too. Seems quite strange to me.

Rockstar have announced that GTA V has been delayed until 17th September 2013 in a newswire post today, allowing for "additional development time".
Dear all,
Today, we have an official release date to share with you: Grand Theft Auto V will arrive in stores on September 17, 2013.
We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time. GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.
To all Grand Theft Auto fans, please accept our apologies for the delay, and our promise that the entire team here is working very hard to make the game all it can be. We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience.
Yours,
The GTA Team
Rockstar also issued a press release.Los Santos: a sprawling sun-soaked metropolis full of self-help gurus, starlets and fading celebrities, once the envy of the Western world, now struggling to stay afloat in an era of economic uncertainty and cheap reality TV. Amidst the turmoil, three very different criminals plot their own chances of survival and success: Franklin, a former street gangster, now looking for real opportunities and serious money; Michael, a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be; and Trevor, a violent maniac driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score. Running out of options, the crew risks everything in a series of daring and dangerous heists that could set them up for life.“Grand Theft Auto V continues to push the series forward in new ways; Rockstar North are creating our deepest, most beautiful and most immersive world yet,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “We are very excited for people to learn more about the game in the coming months.”
The September release date moves the launch back from its original projected release window of spring 2013 in order to allow additional development time. The biggest, most dynamic and most diverse open world Rockstar Games has yet created, Grand Theft Auto V blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game’s three lead characters, playing all sides of the game’s interwoven story. All the classic hallmarks of the groundbreaking series return, including incredible attention to detail and Grand Theft Auto’s darkly humorous take on modern culture, alongside a brand new and ambitious approach to open world multiplayer.
As always you can share your thoughts in the forums. We're prepared for all your immature and irrationally angry comments. Remember it's a game guys. A game.

As we reported last week, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is now available for download on the PlayStation Store, completing the GTA trilogy's availability on the platform. Released yesterday in North America and today across the rest of the globe, the game will set you back £7.99 ($9.99 / €9,99) with the download weighing in at around 3.5GB.
Like Rockstar's other PS2 Classics releases, Vice City doesn't feature remastered HD graphics, trophies, or any other enhancements, but PS3 players who don't own a model supporting backwards compatibility with PS1 and PS2 titles will be grateful for this release.
Rockstar have promised more of their classic titles will be released "very soon". -
I doubt anyone here is still active on GTAF.
-
You don't need all of them sequentially. Just the latest one will do.
Keep in mind you plan to mod the game, 1.0.4.0 is generally the latest that many mods support.

A GTAForums member has spotted some new artwork for GTA V being displayed in a Gamestop store in the US. On one of the pieces of artwork you'll notice a helicopter in the top left, something that has become a tradition featuring on official box arts for the games. Rockstar did tell us we'd be seeing new artwork as well as the game's cover reveal later this month. Given that there are only 5 days left of this month chances are we'll be seeing those this week, could what you see below be part of what Rockstar was planning to show us?
You can see a higher res version of the promo art on the left by clicking here.

Everyone who uses it should have heard about it, they emailed everyone, plus it was pretty big news if you read any tech sites. But it's only the messenger service that's being shut down. And it's only due to the fact they own Skype now, so it's absolutely pointless running two systems, especially as Skype is far superior in every way. But yeah your email etc. will all continue to function as normal.
Personally, everyone I actually care to talk to switched to Skype long ago, or I speak to on Facebook messenger, so the fact WLM is now merged with Skype makes barely any difference to me.
As for GFWL I don't know, but they really should shut that piece of shit down. Or at least make it exactly the same as Xbox Live and fix it's more retarded 'features'. They are changing Xbox Live's communications service to Skype so I'm wondering if GFWL might eventually become like that.

After a few months delay, Rockstar are finally bringing GTA: Vice City to PSN next week, in a move that will complete the availability of the trilogy for PS3 owners. Rockstar already released GTA III in September last year, and San Andreas more recently in December.
Like the other two titles, Vice City is being released as a PS2 Classic, meaning it won't feature any remastered HD graphics, trophies, or any other enhancements. PS3 gamers looking to complete their GTA trilogy collection with Vice City can do so on Tuesday, January 29th in North America and Wednesday, January 30th in Europe, for $9.99 / €9.99 / £7.99.
According to Rockstar, we'll also be seeing more classic Rockstar games being released on PSN in the coming months.

Patrick Brown is back with another new artwork. This one shows off Franklin and Chop, as Patrick explains himself:
I really wanted to show off Chop and Franklin this time around. I love the fact that you can finally have a dog in GTA game now. What a great feature! I can't wait for this game, it's going to be great! If you're in the UK and are also one of the few people who still buys videogame magazines, look out for the next issue of Official PlayStation Magazine. If you're interested, they will be showcasing some of Patrick's artwork and have also interviewed him.

Doar pentru romanii? Daca nu, post un traducere in engleza te rog. Multumesc.
De fapt, ma rog, nu-mi pasa lol. If you're posting in a foreign language here you're supposed to post an English translation too so our staff know what's going on. But I get the impression you're only looking for Romanians for your server. Well, you're welcome to promote it here but I don't think we have many Romanians on the forums that are active.

Judging by how Franklin is standing, he's probably just taken the gun out of it, so I'd say weapons, as opposed to a person. But who knows? Maybe both.

It's been a while since we've had any GTA IV modding news to post about, but today, four years after the first public release, version 1.3 of popular modding tool OpenIV has been released.
OpenIV 1.3 bring two long awaiting features. First, now it possible to view WDR and WDD models from Max Payne 3. You have all same features in viewer like for GTA IV. Second, at last, openFormats for GTA IV now supports WFT “fragments” modes, this is mean soon you will have ability to import vehicles models into 3Ds Max. Also it will be possible to make “destroyable” map objects, like you can see in video above.Links: OpenIV.com | Download

Rockstar have just posted up the final part of their 3-part behind the scenes look at Vice City. Today's part looks at the design of the fantastic city that we all spent so many hours in, some of us spending more time in this game city than we did in our own ones in real life!
Sun-kissed beaches, glamorous night spots, sprawling mansions, squalid ghettos and the various vehicles you use to traverse them...
Creating the world of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City called for tireless and meticulous City Design in making its ambitious level of architecture, locations and modes of transport possible. Today's concluding Part 3 of "The Lab" - a rare behind the scenes look at the design of Vice City through interactive displays originally produced nearly a decade ago for an exhibit at London's Design Museum - has some very special glimpses of the modeling, interior design, and 3D rendering that brought Vice City to life.- “Buildings”- Rare rendering videos that show the Cherry Poppers ice cream factory, the Malibu Club, and the Diaz Mansion from wireframes through to 3D models and fully rendered locations in the game world.
- “Interiors” - 360-degree video tours of the inside of the Ocean Apartments lobby and dining room, the Malibu Club's dance floor, and Ken Rosenberg's stately office.
- "City Wireframe”- Focused around the city's Downtown area with its hi-rises and landmark Hyman Stadium, see the city come alive from wireframes to final city render with a view to the south.
- "City Renders" - Render images of various parts about the city both interior and exterior - living spaces, work spaces, playtime and outside vistas.
- "Vehicle Design" - 3D models, wireframes, final renders and damage models for a variety of vehicle types in the game - the Box Ville truck, the Faggio scooter, Squalo speedboat, Sandking rover, Hermes vintage sedan, and the Maverick chopper.

Remember back in the old days when videogames came in boxes and had instruction manuals and discs among other things? A nice touch Rockstar added to this experience was providing a double sided poster with the game map on the back. Today, Rockstar have posted high-res downloadable digital versions which you may be interested in if you've recently started playing the games again. Click the thumbnails below for the full size images.

Here's part two of Rockstar's look behind the scenes at the making of Vice City, as we celebrate the game's 10th anniversary this year. This part focuses on sound design.
From the attention paid to the Vice City radio dial which hosted an unprecedented soundtrack of licensed music from the 80s plus original 'talk radio' stations, to the intensive sound design that helped make the game's open world come alive, today's edition of The Lab has some glimpses behind the scenes that have never been published online til today:- “Radio Stations”- Tune in to audio from all 9 original radio stations from the Vice City radio dial: Fever 105 (soul hosted by Oliver "Ladykiller" Biscuit), Radio Espantoso (latin hosted by Pepe), Emotion 98.3 (ballads hosted by Fernando Martinez), Wave 103 (new wave hosted by Adam First), Wildstyle Pirate Radio (rap hosted by Super Rockin' Mr. Magic), V-Rock (rock hosted by Lazlow), Flash FM (pop hosted by Toni) and talk stations K-Chat and VCPR. For the 7 music stations, you can hear snippet mixes of selected excerpts whilst for the 2 talk radio stations, "The Lab" contains the station audio in its entirety for a full streaming listen.
- “SoundFX” - A special breakdown of just one small element of Vice City's sound design - helicopter sound effects. As the section explains, the total amount of space available at the time for sound effects would hold less than 12 seconds of music from a CD, therefore all of the sounds created for the city needed to be very short. Each sound has to be produced in isolation so that it can be controlled independently depending on how the player interacts with the game. Listen to the various individual sounds used and then check out a video demo of the final product in action as Tommy Vercetti lifts off in the chopper.
- "Pedestrians”- Wherever you go in the streets of Vice City - from the beach to the shopping mall to the airport - you're sure to overhear tons of colorful dialogue from the city's resident peds. Strutting playboys, lecherous pervs, blue collar slobs, glamorous fly girls, and more - have a look and listen to a sampling of the vast audio recorded in populating Vice City's ambient world.
In somewhat related news, Rockstar North finally launched their brand new website yesterday. Anyone who might be interested in working there, or who has interest in game development may like to check it out. For ordinary fans there's not really much to talk about but it's nice to see the company get a beautiful website to show itself off.

Here's a cool feature from Rockstar, some behind the scenes content for the original Vice City! Check out the interactive feature embedded below. And continue reading for more details.
Nearly ten years ago, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was honored by London’s Design Museum as an annual design award nominee recognizing the ‘biggest contribution to design in 2002’ alongside such other newfangled technology as Apple’s iPod. Part of the award festivities included a special installation at the museum for which we produced an exclusive set of interactive kiosks to give visitors a glimpse of how Vice City was created – specifically focused on the game’s Animation,Sound, and City Design architecture.
Rockstar will be posting all of the original files from the digital display, which haven't been seen since the original museum exhibition, starting with today’s Animation chapter seen above. Enjoy rare footage and sketches including:- “Motion Capture”- a rare video showing a cutscene between Kent Paul and Tommy Vercetti going from motion-capture through to 3D model wireframe to finished product.
- “Sketch Book” - a progression of original character sketches through to final models and now-iconic illustrations of such folks as Lance Vance, Avery Carrington, Ken Rosenberg and more.
- “Tommy Moves”- a set of clips showing the genesis of Tommy’s animations whether jumping into a Comet sports car, dive kicking a biker off his chopper or running with a chainsaw...

Having games on Blu-ray isn't about graphics. The GPU determines how good the graphics can be. The point of Blu-ray media is that you can fit fucking massive amounts of data on them, 10 times more than a DVD anyway. This is why games like LA Noire and Max Payne 3 fit on a single disc for PS3 players, while Xbox 360 players have 2 or 3. That's the benefit of Blu-ray.
The specs I was referring to was the things you mentioned (Blu-ray, Windows 8 OS, required internet) as those are still things that haven't been confirmed and was allegedly completely made up by the guy who "leaked" them... it's irrelevant anyway until MS/Sony actually release official specs.
