  1. My rep is showing as negative one, if I posted anything that you would say helped, help me as well by voting on the positive side for my rep! Thanks in Advance

  2. The moniker BB I use here is indicative of the banning I got and what is problematic with that ONE forum I have experience with, so yeah, Slamman is my original ID, though I have several GamerTags now on Xbox, about 4 or 5 in all! haha

  3. You guys use older tech at all? Camcorders to be specific? My old TRV99 Handycam is one of the best analog High Band machines ever made.... Cost about $1500 brand new, and my first camcorder, Canon A1 Digital, cost $1500 as well, that was when I had my first profit sharing check ever! Well, since then, I paid about $300 or less for pawnshop camcorders or anywhere else they were second hand, even wound up with some VHS ones, though never a Betacam Recently, I had a TR81 Handycam (V stands for VISION) which seemed to take a few too many falls, all of a sudden the playback didn't work, but it still recorded live sound and video, then it seemed to be crinkling the critical tape edge which is not good, so I set it aside. The past week I look at the pawnshop again, their MAKE AN OFFER table of odds and ends, most things just jack parts to completely test, batteries or AC, remotes, that.... Well, they had a nice selection of cameras and camcorders, even a slim PS2 system that was tempting, but I already bought two old ones again, in the past year, I didn't see a real need for three of them! hahaha A Sony Handycam DCR-TRV 140 was among the camcorders, and being familiar with Sony, I picked it up, no battery, no cords, no remote, however, at least the AC matched my good ole TRV99. The Batteries however, sad to say, Do Not. InfoLithium L and M series between the two cameras, the only seeming PLUS besides Sony's Digital8 format, was a built in light, pre-LED, the better lamps used back then. Research and testing showed that only about half...or less, of the D8 Camcorder actually serve to playback the 8mm and Hi8 used in the analog days, and mine is not one of those models... It plays and records solely in D8 format, at two speeds, however, LP and SP, as did the analog machines, but with Digital8 the speeds in both are about twice as fast as analog, so it would seem, they cur some corners. Looking on eBay, I see a user started a FYI list of brand models that work with Backwards Compatibility, and those that don't. Also looking around proved that Hitachi also made a camcorder in the D8 or Digital8 line. Now to clarify, the D8 format uses iLink from Sony, also known as FIREWIRE traditionally, it has it's own built in EDITING menu in the camcorder and sends the signals via IR or iLink if preferred, you mark entry and exit points along the tape, and program those in the camera and it communicated that program list to the connected dubbing deck! Digital8 was meant as a jumping up point from analog 8mm to MiniDV or DIGITAL VIDEO Tape, used by a great many others, I believe it was lower in cost then the emerging MiniDV and it used pre existing tapes, but offering digital video and audio, 12 and 16bit stereo. Also at the same pawnshop, a miniDV DCR-HC28 touchscreen camcorder in a small body package that I bought for dirt cheap MAKE OFFER price as well, but then found to be notorious for a sticking ejection door. I'd only found success now twice, just getting in another tape today proved a challenge, however, just three screws hold the ejection door physically in place, so I removed it and reset it's position with and without a cassette inserted, powering the system itself up and down, moving things manually, there was actually no need for further disassembly, cost, or parts replacement, though a mode gear is highly suspect, that repair does require disassembly and cost, so a word to the wise about any repairs such as these, if you like getting things working with no money out of your pocket, do a bit of DIY and research, as well as manually checking things out, you can get results like I did, a camera some would sell or throw away proved everybit as useful as it was new, once the tape was retracted back into place! HA!
  4. I've never used Fraps, try recording with a plain jane camcorder off LCD flatscreen, it works much, much better then CRT tubes of yesteryear, and as for CPU, I got an i3 Intel dual core WITH HyperThreading, what you want is a multicore in that range, perhaps, if not Core2Duo or Core2Quad, ....that being Intel i3, i5, or i7 They got Sandy Beach Intel chipset squared away now, if you wanna risk it. The CPUs for those are 1155 socket. 775 covers the 800 bus or higher Dual Core, and then AMD is your other choice. I have an old DDR board AMD64 939 Socket Ultra nForce4, that one is old but still works with the first DUAL CORE AMD64s for that socket type.
  5. For me, landing planes in Las Venturas on the freeways around there, it's plenty fun to create car crashes galore. Some of you OLD game players of SA since day one, you may recall an article pointed out that planes trajectory was hoped to be corrected when it was noted they hit low objects (tall ones from the ground though!) and that would have proved too time consuming, they felt the random act of a plane crashing and exploding proved a fun addition, a HAPPY accident for the series and installment. If you are not sure what I mean, in a few cases, cause a plane to fly overhead by entering a restaurant to get some food or drink, as you exit, a plane can normally appear at low altitude and gain height from there, if the position is near something in the way, like the radio towers above Vinewood sign and hills (Hollywood in GTA gaming), A plane actually fell on me in that location, rather unexpectedly. It's one of the nice attributes that makes the more mundane aspect of GTA open world gaming come alive! I believe adding these elements back into the GTA franchise in better GTA graphics of course!
  6. I'm sure you struggle with English, but if you can use Typo correction, I hear that Firefox 4 helps here, try and get correct English spelling so we understand the question and messaging intent. I'm a stickler after being called out on my own typos, it's often a bit maddening. I only bought Episodes GTA4 for the PC, the other I play on Xbox
  7. For me, the driving mechanism and INSANE speed of multiple police, I can't do well when the pressure increases in GTA3, aside from that, the most annoying is the three gunshots of upgraded Mafia it takes to do you in when you trespass various areas of the game as you may well know by now, as the plot leads to cross and doublecross and triplecrosses. The random peds loyal to any head honcho, they won't like you hanging out, innocently...in the area. I went back to GTA 3 not long ago because I own two copies for PC so I install it on any new computer that I think would benefit having a copy.
  8. But us GTAF Vets already know this is something they've done before, offering up EA as the buyers of Take Two, I fell for it, pretty bad I must say. WELL, I won't fall for such news so easily I can tell you....again! Should add, as far as any studio pining to own Take2, it's really up to them what happens, they've refused such offers on the strength of their titles profitability I believe, and maintaining the control of their IP, if that's the right way to say it
  9. The Global Warming is a hot topic, more contested then it should be, after all, you wanna wait till it's too late? We're well on our way to the point where efforts that are not dramatic do not have much impact or hope. It's warming up here, to low 50s on the high end, MUCH snow has melted, over 60 inches when all is said and done, this season was No#5 in terms of snowiest on record! It's also been NASTY cold and windy and still WINDY! I dislike it, no sugarcoating, to be honest, SUMMER kicks it, we all know. We got a COLD sun at the moment, in between threats of rain. As for the Global Warming, it seems odd that would mean COLDER then normal temps, but it's been said on a recent NOVA or similar Public TV special that that's scientifically what happens. Extreme temps and conditions become commonplace. The years Japan face in getting back to normal is indicative of what we will face if NATURE has HER way!
  10. I got on everyone's nerves when I post as I normally do, what's so amusing in that respect is that at GTAForums, one can argue the single biggest GTA community, I was still being called out for posting for the sake of posting, I expected the same level of enthusiasm, that's honest fact that some of those shallow folks could not see. I like it here, yeah, Chris friended me on XBL, dare I say? He doesn't game online often or chat there, but that's always cool when someone like a Webmaster or pro takes time out for the little guys. Over at GTAF, for example, PatrickW took time to PM me, but Tank never did. PW is known as the guy who found the Hot Coffee mod, and he's revered over all!
  11. I believe that's the clear difference, story narrative and a unique twist from the people behind it, namely Dan Houser, someone who's not a lifer in terms of videogame design/scripting, so there's a unique perspective. Saints Row maybe looking to separate from the comparisons by involving more from story and characters, but the mechanics those two games share will likely stay the same, for one thing, it's intuitive to share control scheme across platforms, games, systems, etc.
  12. We're covering this on our new GTA site as we scour for breaking leads. I commented there as here, that why not have the same voice actor? Anyone know why that might be?? I think he's such a unique voice in SA, it's hard to find some alternative that would seem or sound like him
  13. In my last comment I point out he admitted, that being the SOURCE for this story, that he is making this Twitter quote up and it spread like wildfire, but it not accurate to go by, since he claimed it was pulled off Twitter, without a "cut and paste" using the Print [PRT] "SCR" key to copy live content you find online, there's no way to back things up. However, I did advise speculation on music or voice actors, James Pedeaston being a key radio personality for example, if they hire someone new for him, as we suspect, the same voice from GTA SA, Why not use the same actor? I can't see that going well. I'm rather miffed, the Eskimo tried to pull wool over players and fans eyes, we don't enjoy false leads, I am pretty sure I speak for everyone on that!
  14. I am not all that active, since I am committed to my friends forum and offline typo things, so not sure why I can't find a Saints Row topic here, but if you're like me, Saints Row and any GTA inspired game is less a rip-off then it is more of the same style 3D FreeRoaming Real World adventure game, and the ideas as I see it can be plenty, however, I don't like them deviating too far. The next title out this fall; Saints Row THE THIRD Looks to actually steal more thunder from GTA which as a title, sits idle. With the Teaser amount of information thus far, what are your opinions? Do you think You'll be more or less impressed as more is known? Will you be getting one or the other, or... GTA for sure, a given?? As far as the title, I was not sure where to post any SR topics as we learn more about it, but it looks rather revamped thus far.
  15. The Eskimo lead on, eventually that this was a hoax that he orchestrated because I wager, he was himself, bored of the inactivity as far as any information to go on, however, the recent casting notice and idea that GTA is using a temp title "Rush" to throw people off, however, it could be they are coming up with other game ideas, I should think, like RDR, taking the RAGE and Euphoria tools, RN and Rockstar Games can make some new sagas to partake in. In the future, however, my friend suggests it will take a new hardware (CONSOLE) release to bring with it a new GTA. That would take far too long as it is!
  16. I'm American, and I know of him for years now, but if you listen to excerpts of Howard Stern radio on YouTube, you can see what Howard thinks of his firing from Aflak. Voicing the talking duck, and there is video from the VIEW ladies, specifically comic female/actor Whoopie Goldberg tells of her feelings being a comedian and having a job responsibility, outside of that, my first impression is that he knows of GTA, some actors do, make no mistake... and felt to rebut the comments about his jokes, he'd jump on this public information quest for GTA news. For gamers, it's pretty well known the information regarding the series is very secretive, and he could know that and be milking it. In the last game, Iggy Pop let slip he was hired to do the radio gig for GTA4, that was true, of course! I think it would cause it's own controversy given he's been overtly tasteless and crass with those 'jokes', I don't hate his comedy but this is low, most would at least contribute some funds to help Japan, or offer prayers for their well being. I mentioned, if he'd lost his home and family would he care people found it amusing to laugh it off?
  17. In looking for any sign of movement under the proverbial radar, Site domains are one avenue of course, however, I should remind all that when Conan O Brien joked about a website that didn't exist, the NBC lawyers at that time gave him stern reprimand over the matter, If you were lucky enough to catch that episode, NBC/GE/Universal had to buy the domain for the mentioned site, as Conan explained it was some legal requirement, so I believe it COULD be the same for Rockstar and their fictional sites. Someone should find mentioned of the legalities surrounding such matters. I believe Conando though!
  18. There's an Old Man in the Sky? that's a new one on me, I think many things you can't explain could be God's proof to you, maybe you forgot what the word Miracle means? It's a proof that God exists, as I understand it. I believe in Good, Evil, sin in the World, and the mortal Soul. If things were as simple as black and white, then your Faith would not be tested, once you die and HE judges you, then things are that simple...black and white. In simple terms. God is the final judge of your character, I just think it behooves you to be a caring person, see the folks helping the Japanese, helping their Global Neighbors? Well, I say, God bless those folks, they've got the right idea, that's for sure
  19. Due to the very sad Unceremonious dismissal by GM of both Pontiac Firebird, then PMD, and Cadillac Eldorado, along with Oldsmobile line of cars, I want to update here a consumer's opinion thread of your thoughts on the matter, experience owning, driving, what happened to the marques that was so wrong, etc?? Most Pontiac and GM diehard fans think it could just be a matter of time before they are eventually revived, however, for now, just the Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette harken back to historical lineage. I find it truly sad that even with the Bailout of Detriot and US Automakers, there's still a lack of tempting car design. Look at all the Cadillac Eldorados ever made, they all have something to offer and set them apart. Simple fact is less numbers per year in sales hit the coupe, or 2 door motor car styles really hard. Eventually we saw Hummer become an unneeded weight around General Motors' neck. Olds I needn't remind had a significant lineage in the Motor car history of the World as well. And played a part in the Muscle Car era, that persisted with the Hurst marque into the 1980s as well.
  20. Pretty much, CLASSIC ROCK, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, but I like artists like The Eagles, Joe Walsh...of course, Sheryl Crow, Heart, new age, acoustic, some country in moderation, some rap in even more moderation, though I become a fan not by choice, but exposure and then I get the REAL quality out of something I normally would not entertain buying. Or tuning to radio to hear. When I do listen to a song I deem EXCELLENT, I wish the whole world could get into it in the same way....It's often very euphoric, I kid you not!
  21. Superman The Movie on BluRay, had not watched the film since it was in theaters I believe, so friggin long ago! I really am not a comic book fan, but love the Lethal Weapon movies and as such, director Dick Donner Before hand, I watched the HD presentation of RoboCop on BluRay, no special features on that, sadly, but it looks and sounds great. I actually bought some 99 cent VHS films as well, decided it was cheaper then renting them at that price! haha
  22. We seem to be missing threads for BluRay and General HiDef content. I bought a 32 inch HDTV, and now another LCD TV, this one an 18 inch but seems DTV or HD complient, it looks good, though not as good quality. After the 32inch, I bought a BluRay DVD ROM, it's not working flawlessly via PC as a standalone like PS3 might, but I felt I got a good deal on it for $55 USD Anywho, I'd report the two disc Big "4" to start with, a follow up to the 1990's show Clash of the Titans, only this time, we lose Alice in Chains (RIP, guys!) and have Slayer, Anthrax, Metallica, and MegaDaves, er, Megadeth with David Ellefson on bass again.... all at one show, in HD, in DTS Surround sound and looking mighty awesome. The crowd and weather effects of the day are all in HD as mentioned, and the two disc concert film is actually affordable! I love that both Megadeth and Metallica mended their differences after so many damn bitter years of in-fighting all made possible by voracious drug consumption habits, thanks, guys! Anywho, seriously, this is a must for all metal music fans, and I would point out, I hear a lot of metal shows announcing in my town, get out and enjoy some, support your local music scene, and perhaps, you might be in the audience for a major disc release, I was!! (first G3 video with Satriani and Steve Vai!)
  23. A long time ago, when I made a habit of collecting LaserDiscs, prior to DVD mind you, I'd heard about some RARE, OOP (Out of Print) collector titles, ones to watch out for, just like LP collectors, this is still a practice for those who mount impressive collections for Home Theater, one just happens to be a Disney film, not Bugs Bunny, but a motion picture that came under fire for it's Southern themes of the time and the racism issues of the 60s onward, of course the 1950s and prior did have segregation and race quality issues, but this animated film put on LaserDisc to preserve the work of the studio came under fire like most films, for the subject matter. It's supposedly one of the hardest and costliest to obtain of all LaserDiscs that were printed. I could be missing data, I can't recall the film title to be honest, but it may peak your interest to know.
  24. I wound up with a handful of Sonys standard Walkman headsets, they work consistently great, and when I had to choose some quality ones for home use, look no further then Sony Studio Monitor model V6. Dated now, but never loss in quality audio over the time they've been around! Just replace the wire or earpads and your back in business! As for in the ear type, KOSS' The Plug. With replaceable rubber covers, they are the best in ear I'd say, that I ever used. Try eBay for both. Koss since the Plug was available have replaced them and several other brands jumped on the concept Koss came up with, but you can't go wrong with the original I bought a replacement and use them sparingly
  25. German metal band LEGENDS Running Wild with Under Jolly Roger. You don't get more Pirate Metal then that, I'd say!!
