I highly doubt rockstar would have neglected a PC release anyway, since the entirety of the GTA series that has been multi-platform (ie on both xbox/360 and ps2/3) have also made it to PC. They ported IV (to whatever standard) despite using an entirely new engine, and despite that fact that coding on that new engine for new systems was probably pretty draining. Yeah, we didn't get red dead, and we don't know why... but it was a new franchise and maybe the guys upstairs (T2) wanted it that way. Max Payne 3 made it to PC, and the port was apparently pretty good, with a handful of sources making comments about the loading times, (I happen to think if you complain about load times in a game you're an idiot but hey.) which indicates rockstar have had a little more experience with the engine and are prepared for a PC release.
On top of this, not releasing to PC when the modding community is so prevalent is commercial suicide. GTA has one of the most dedicated fan bases there is, people still regularly play, create content for and make machinimas and so on for SA as well as IV. They're an intelligent company, very aware of the industry in which they operate and I think they know what the right decision is from both an image and financial standpoint.

Well, it's dependant largely upon the resolution you want to record at, if you're looking to record at 1080p then you might have issues. At 1280x720 you'd be better off and so on. it also depends on how high you want the settings to be when you record.

You should be able to record footage at 30fps on that setup. (As in, the video capture software could export 30 fps video, you'd probably get a few more ingame.) GTAIV has a pretty good suite of options to choose from so you can always play with the texture quality / shadows / reflections and density until it balances out nicely. On the rig in my signature, I can record IV on max settings to export at 30fps, with my actual game hitting about 40. Never tried recording at 60, but I imagine it'd chug a bit.
Just make sure all your drivers are right up to date and you're giving the thing enough space to vent the hot air out until you get to know what your system is capable of.

Also it's not actually Gabe's fault, I'm guessing it's probably to do with the fact it's a digital distributor in general and I wouldn't be surprised if Sony were forcing this upon other digital retailers, since boxed copies offer a different kind of protection. IMO, Sony are being totally short-sighted here (along with just about every other mass media producer there is); I'd have never *intheorycoughcough* bought songs from the VC soundtrack had the game not exposed me to them.

It's far too-well designed. I don't understand why they didn't just give 7 a refresh, the usual bugfizes and usability improvements that come with new versions with accents of the metro creeping in. Microsoft have apple envy, and they took it way too far.
I'll stick with 7 until some third party invariably finds a way to turn it all off.

Good to know that this has stemmed from multiple sources now, and with the release of what seems like quite a bit of media we can be pretty sure that R* won't pull a delay on us. Do R* have any previous spring release dates to base off of so we can maybe narrow down the timeline a bit?

Looks like I'll be getting this release day, then. I never had a console when ANY of the GTAs released onto PC later in the year, but now I do
- Will probably get the PC version as and when though, probably not PC launch, but steam are notorious for driving GTA prices all the way down at Christmas-time. -
A part of me really hopes this thing only exists so we know who to strike off the voting register to improve democracy.

I don't think anyone's really represented fairly in GTA. What you have to remember is that the games are written to be funny, and exaggerating the aspects of someone's personality or a the perceived personality of a collective group is a damn easy, damn effective way to do this. It's not a bad thing at all, it's a bit of a nihilistic approach but I really don't think the people at R* are walking around saying shit like 'well yeah we don't really want to represent women' 'well we shouldn't have a guy whose Chinese and kills people cause they might get offended.' this level on nonchalance towards the potential of offending anyone is what has made GTA's writing so consistently good.

Good news at last. The only details I'm hoping we can nail down is whether it'll be mulitplatform on release, and probably the protagonist since nobody seems to shut up about it. I suppose I'll wait 15 minutes for the scans to hit reddit or something instead of buying the magazine though. I'm a terrible person.

The one question I always raise is why does whoever is president get paid 400 grand a year (or so)? Why do people from such economically strong backgrounds (Mitt Romney is fuckin' loaded) make up such a huge percentage of the running candidates? Why is this allowed to persist? If you want to make sure the little people are being looked out for, make the president a little person. Let him spend a month squirming over phone bills and food and petrol and tax and shit.
@Americans - What did you guys think of Ron Paul? He seemed like his policies were spot-on and he had the vision of a modern day Reagan. He really changed the sweeping view I have of Republicans with his ruthless logic.
