I just wanted to listen to your thoughts, i don't think there's anything new in the preview but this single article contains all the details.

ProGam3s.Com: GTA is coming back with yet one more game call GTA 4 and may be many more. I could remember when I use to play GTA game on the PC and the PS1 when you had a job to see what you were doing and the sky view, but everything has been totally changed till today.

The new Grand Theft Auto game is called GTA4 (alternatively known as Grand Theft Auto IV, GTA IV and just IV). The game will be released simultaneously on Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's Playstation 3 in October 2007.

Well the story is that, you play as Niko Bellic, Who is an Eastern European male, who makes his way to Liberty City leaving behind a life of murder, smuggling and slavery for what he is led to believe is a new start living the 'American Dream'. His cousin, Roman, lures Niko to Liberty City with a promise of sports cars, hot tubs and plenty of girls. Things however, weren't as they had been advertised and really Roman, who is in various forms of debt and other trouble, just needed his cousin's help.

Niko is not customizable as it was possible in GTA: San Andreas, but you'll be able to style him with different outfits. The reason for this is that after they got Niko's physics and look "dead right", it was difficult implementing features that will allow the customization of his body. "Virtually none" of the characters from the previous games are returning, Rockstar has improved the visuals of this game, adding more realistic touch. Also GTA 4 will feature Rockstar's Advanced Game Engine this allows for fantastic rendering capabilities and extremely realistic lighting effects. They are using Rage engine which was used for the “Table Tennis” game. The graphics in the game are high definition and are hugely more detailed than the previous franchise games. We will get rid of loading screens this time. The game will never have to load after the initial loading screen, regardless of entering interiors.

The game it's self is set in Liberty City, which is based very closely on New York, Brooklyn is known in game as Broker, Manhattan as Algonquin, Queens as Dukes, The Bronx as Bohan, and New Jersey is known as Alderney. For the first time the game is up to date on its time's as the game is set in modern day somewhere around 2007 but the bad news is, well if you call it bad news, The borough, Staten Island, was not added to the game because the team decided that it would not be a fun location to play in.

The gameplay of GTA 4 is a lot better than the last one (Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas) The AI in GTA4 has been greatly revamped. Pedestrians will behave in much different ways. Some will smoke, some will sit on benches, some can be seen carrying boxes and groceries, and this will give a much more realistic feel to the game world. The Police AI has been greatly revamped too and it will be much harder for criminals to succeed in the game. The animations have been worked on and will create much more realistic movement for the many characters in game. Driving and shooting is more organic, fluid, and precise and your mobile phone can be used to set up deals or arranging ambushes - you can call the shots. Is time round the Missions are more realistic, longer, varied, and will have multiple possible outcomes.

There will be several different animation sets for breaking into a car, so far we know one of them includes Niko breaking the glass of the window with his elbow, then starting the car using the injection cables. We know there probably isn't a lot of different other ways Niko can do this, but we suspect it will involve dynamic animations, and for instance Niko sometimes becoming suspicious in the middle of hotwiring a car, looking around to see if anyone suspects what he's doing, then continuing.

R* is still deciding whether bridges will be used to cordon off certain areas as they did in (Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas) and other GTA games. But they are to make Liberty City feel more fluid, and there not being any "dead spots" or "irrelevant space" as you drive through it, More side-activities are promised, and pedestrians and traffic flow is different depending on the time of day. Pedestrians are a lot more intelligent, realistic and diverse, using mobile phones, cash machines, eating snacks, reading news papers and interacting with each other through laughter, threatening remarks etc. There are no more loading screens when crossing islands or entering interiors; certain interiors are see-thru and you can move through them seamlessly. As stated before, there aren’t any planes, but players will be able to pilot helicopters. The reason being that there is not enough room for flying, and crossing the map will be too fast this way. One airport is confirmed to be in the game. As expected, there are no more pop-ups of buildings and trees as we've seen in the past. R* told us that the game has been vertically expanded.

According to Rockstar, less realistic elements will be omitted from the game. This would include arrows and markers that would assist the player. There is speculation however that the mobile phone would essentially help the player out with the inclusion of a GPS-like system. An idea floating around the development process is adding street names that appear on-screen when you enter the designated street. It has yet to be decided on.

Niko will be able to climb and descend exterior fire escapes and some meetings will take place high in the office buildings of skyscrapers. The authors claim that from on top of them you'll be able to throw people off. Hand to hand combat is also being reworked on for GTA IV and will feel "much more natural" than before. Players will be able to change their camera views according to their needs. This however is said to still being experimented on, and that Rockstar want to give better control to players. When selecting your mobile phone, a zoomed-in version of the mobile screen pops up in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, where you can use its address book to pitch for "jobs" with gang contacts among other things.

As the audio, the game sound tracks will feature music that fits with the certain mood's rather than just music from the time. You will be able to hear so many different noises and voices when you will be walking in streets. Rockstar has done everything to make GTA IV more realistic and they are pretty much successful is doing this.

As we talked about it before the vehicles in GTA 4 will not feature any Planes. Rockstar Games explains that as the game is set in only one city, there is no need for air transportation. The usual selection of vehicles will make a return, however they will be suited to the character. All of the vehicles in the game have new physics and the camera angles are closer to give the player a better view of the vertical city. (Driving Camera will be similar to Midnight Club Driving Style). Boats will be making a return and the handling is really nice. Advanced water effect has been integrated in the game.

GTA 4 is going live with downloadable episodic content via each platform online gaming services which will increase the length of the game and add various new features. A Rockstar Games spokesman described these additional downloads. 'Think of the world as a large island - the new downloadable areas will be like smaller islands linking into it'. You will have to pay for some of the downloadable content but some of it will be free.

Now let’s see what developers have to say about GTA 4.

Take 2 Games stated in a press conference in late 2006 that there will be 150 developers working on Grand Theft Auto 4, which the most developers are working on any GTA game so far. Work on the game started right after the release of GTA: San Andreas in November 2004. Despite earlier rumors, the game isn't trying to be photorealistic, but things such as artificial intelligence and the behaviors of pedestrians reacting to things such as a weapon being pulled out in front of them has been worked on a lot.

The goal of GTA IV is to make the city look more populated than anything else people have seen before in a game like this. Dan Houser states that no-one has attempted to recreate a location of this size, and with so much detail, ever before.

Expect more details as the game's release draws nearer, and expect to read about it here.
