I have a theory on how gang placement COULD work

When you load up the server, a screen pops up, with all the different participating gangs listed, along with maybe a short brief, some info, or whatever.

To select your gang, you click on it's icon or whatever.

To ensure no incorrect entry, the gangs could be password secured (same as private forum passes? - or entirely new, as delegated by the gang leaders)

You spawn, and go kill some shit.

This should be possible, i've seen a very basic form on one MTA server, it had just Allied and Axis, with no password protection, and no more than two groups...

Gang coloured names would be good, as would predefined vehicles for each gang... other gang's vehicles could be locked out to other players?

And i want easter eggs.... god help you if there's no easter eggs... <_<

That's what we're thinking already.

Once we get this done will we have to take territories manually or does each gang have one territory or compound and they have to build their gangs empire by claiming more territories across San Andreas (Say every Territory starts off white then they change colour by being claimed which will be decided by two gangs Battling out for that territory?)

I think one of the coolest ways to have it set up would be by hideouts. Say like, Ocean Docks, Mad Dogg's mansion, 4 Dragons Casino. Just for ease of example, we'll use three gangs and one hideout. Gang picks a set of vehicles (I would set limits, nothing too over the top. Like all patriots or something) Possibly a heli, and a boat outback depending on location.

Basically, you can choose to chase after gangs and what-not. Maybe communicate and make a meeting point at an abandon location in the desert. Or maybe. It'd be like, SFM chases after The Bayside Mafia, and is running all over them. Maybe there would be the need for a retreat, gang wars ending only when all members are dead.

Just to base it on pure tacticals, maybe have a set number of "lives" or have usable healthpacks and an extra armor. IMO gangwars should be based for on tactics and being smart than kills and randomly attacking eachother with no real set plan.

I haven't commented in here yet - basically I think tgtap multiplayer is long overdue, and I'm glad we're doing it. I just hope it's done properly, not just some shitty server that's run for a week and then gets left broken (like a lot of things on here seem to be).

I think a cool way to do it would be to have one single map running 24/7. There are only 3 or 4 gangs, and everyone has to be in one of them. Members of a gang can join the map at any time during the day and go off and do stuff. Anything they do will earn money for themselves or the gang (eg by doing side-missions), and they can spend their own money (some of which is given to them by the gang leaders) on ammo/armour/vehicles etc. Each gang has various assets in their home city, including some sort of central 'base'.

If someone from Gang A stands in the base of Gang B, then automatically Gang A steals $1000 from Gang B. Obviously Gang B will have to have people online to defend their base and stop people getting in. If Gang A manages to sneak in whilst nobody from Gang B is online, and they steal loads of money, then that is Gang B's fault for not having someone online. If there are only 3 gangs, that leaves 4,000 members per gang - easily enough for 24h coverage (even if 3,000 members in each gang are inactive). The gang has to persuade people to join it, so that it has good coverage.

If a gang loses all or a lot of its money, then they can't buy any more armour/weapons/ammo/vehicles/buildings. This leaves them more vulnerable to other attacks, and makes it harder for them to invade other bases. So they might have to earn more money to be able to buy stuff they need to steal money from other gangs.

This method of doing it (just a thought, feel free to rip it to pieces) allows for regular big wars as well as occasional small battles, and the leaderboard will probably change quite often as one gang leaves its base unattended for too long and the underdogs score a massive win.

Obviously it can be tweaked to make it as defensive/offensive as required. Eg making a easily-defended base that's impossible to get into makes for a war that NEEDS lots of members and money/weapons/vehicles to be able to successfully attack. Eg making bases very easy to get into means you NEED a lot of members to defend and its very easy to attack, so money changes hands quickly and often (all day).
