Why? I find CS3 is far more intuitive than it's previous iterations.

I use CS3 and love it. Not only does it run much faster than previous versions but I actually make use of quite a few of the new features.

Exactry. The interface has been unified across Adobe applications so it's easier to switch between Photoshop and Dreamweaver easily. I find it's easier to clone/heal pixels and have them blend better. It also works a lot better with my Vistaids. I can't wait until CS4 though, Content Aware Image Resizing is going to be tits.

Which, in theory, would allow you to this image into a full-size wallpaper with little effort.

Yes, amazing feature. Unfortunately, it's putting easy photo manipulation in the hands of everyone.... Kind of demeans those of us who had to learn how to remove people/objects from images by ourselves, using harsh out-dated tools like the clone stamp and healing brush.

For the record, I've been using PS7 since I first started using PS. I have had nothing else. I don't have all of your fancy quick-fixes. And yet, it doesn't matter anymore because what photo manipulators do isn't anything great anymore because ANY fucking person can do it now.

-.- Fuck you Adobe. You've betrayed us.......

Could anyone give me some GFX tips? :D

I want to do some GFX :)

Use the Polygon Lasso Tool when cutting items out.

Try and find some decent effects off of numerous good graphics sites, I don't know any so I think you should go to TM about that one.

Yeah, I'll wait till TM gets to this. :)

lol, everyone is starting to like me. ^_^

Well, I dunno where to start, plus, this is going off-topic. If you're gonna start off with a sig, you should follow Evolution's TUT, which is somewhere in the Graphics + Writers Pad forum.

All I can say is be creative with your work. The more creative, the most likely the work will be unique, and the more people will like your style.

^ A little hypocritical no? "Just buy it legally", the cheapest possible version you can buy is about £500 ($1000) IIRC, not everyone's got that money to spend. Adobe make plenty of money from businesses such as colleges and universities and professional design firms who purchase licenses. Not to mention all the other software they produce. And hey, MS are doing just fine and their stuff is incredibly easy to crack with keygens and whatnot.

Going wildly offtopic now but it's actually a popular conspiracy that MS purposely make their software easy to crack so it remains in popular use!

Anyway let's move away from chatting about illegal things and keep to the topic at hand please.

Dont use the polygon lasso tool when cutting, it looks choppy, use the pen tool and create a new path. Dont get lazy with it, cut everything to the exact pixel, or it doesn't look right (in my opinion).

Use layer effects, you can get some neat stuff it you test with that and background layers.

and i use CS2. I tried CS3 at my sisters and saw no significant difference from CS2.

Edit// I used layer effects in my sig. I'm not a pro, but layer effects made the neat purple shading to parts of the sig.

CS3 sucks. Ok, i would marry the refine edge tool, but...

The entire of the 'left hand' panes, such as history, navigation, swatches, histogram, layers, all have this stupid compulsion to stick to each other. What if i want my layers palette in plain view? What if i find it highly irritating that all my little boxes clump together like overcooked rice?

Cs2 leaves that crap out. Minimalist, functional, and that's it. Oh and balls to all that 3D crap. If you knew anything you'd get illustrator to do that :P

I wouldn't exactly say Polygonal Lasso Tool sucks, I mean, if anything is straight, this tool can do it out of now problem whatsoever. The tool I think is better is the Magnetic Lasso Tool, but the problem is sometimes if you're cutting out an image which has near the same colour as the item you're cutting, it sometimes adds that part of the item as well.

I think I need to start using the Pen tool, as long as it cuts the exact pixel...

Since i tend to jump around on computers (dont have my own), i dont really bother with photoshop. I just use good old paint. It doesnt do the job nearly as good as photoshop, but i feel like i accomplish more with it.

I recently found an online program called spashup, i like it for converting my pics to png.

I use CS3, but there's far too much to it, it'll take ages to just learn the basics. I love it though. I did have Photoshop Elements 4.0, but it's really basic and I didn't even use it that much.

I can agree with what you said there. I found it so confusing the first time I got it installed on my PC, and didn't know how to add a layer (Considering it was my first time), then eventually it all got stuck in my head and then I could make simple basic stuff up such as gradients and adding borders, along with creating effects with text (Emboss, Outer Glow, Drop Shadow etc.). Probably now, I would lol at myself at how nooby I was, but then again, anyone can find this program hard, it's not very basic at some point.

CS2. Works great IMO.

Can CS3 actually do anything CS2 can't?

CS3 is better then CS2 I think.

I haven't used CS3 or CS2 for months though

Just cause it's called CS3 means it's better. CS2 is better, and is what I am currently using.

From what I know, CS3 has the 3D graph and the refine edge tool, but that's all I know, never really used CS3 for long. I'm sticking with CS2, probably until I get a new PC, then most likely I'll be getting new software's for the new PC, that is if I do get a new PC.
