MrLlamaLlama 96 Posted February 16, 2011 I have a friend studying geology at Uni. Part of his course encompasses palaeontology (dinosaurs). We've been cooperatively been trying to figure out whether a fully grown male T-Rex could kill a million kittens. Or rather, could a million kittens take down the same rex? Considering that: and: Collective kitten weight is 4000 tonnes. Assumed T-Rex weight is 7 tonnes. Kittens outweigh T-Rex by 571 times. That's like a single Muhammed Ali vs. a single kitten, folks. Collective brain weight of kittens is 30 000 000 = 1.5 × 10to the -5 grams, T-rex is 450 grams. (Non-math fans, that's a metric fuckton of brain) T-Rex is thought to have a top speed of 11mph, a kitten nearing 17 or 18 by my estimates based on full grown domestic cats. jf1093 1 Posted February 16, 2011 No. They wouldn't all be able to get on top of it to crush it, as your 4000 lbs suggests, the t rex would kill a lot of them especially at first, probably get tired, take a nap, get scratched a little, but as far as I know they have tough skin, so it wouldn't be too bad, wake up, kill more, then eventually win. True story
Nate10 44 Posted February 16, 2011 Definitely depends. First off: is basement cat involved? If the fight was bounded(i.e. a house of some sort)the 1 million kitties would not even need to do anything, considering they'd intentionally or not swarm the T-rex and suffocate it. If the fight arena wasn't bounded, the T-rex would have have to make the fight last a long time, because if it ate 1 million kittens in one sitting, it'd gorge itself to death. Perhaps if the T-rex realized he just had to step on all of them, he could win. I don't know, but I at least think kittens can't plan to kill a T-rex. Who knows. Tough to say. True story Tonnes. 4000 tonnes. That's like, 3000 ford mexico's, or escorts, depending where you live, or 8 dodge pickups. @nate: It's thought that *does calculations* a t-rex could eat 125 kittens per sitting at a maximum, after which it would need some time to digest, etc. I think this means the t-Rex opens itself to suffocation. Huckleberry Pie 47 Posted February 16, 2011 If it's a well-coordinated Zerg Rush, then the T-Rex might end up being overrun by a million kittens. But other factors may affect it, especially if the felines are swift enough not to be eaten alive.
Mpilk901 16 Posted February 16, 2011 If it's a well-coordinated Zerg Rush LOL Couldn't the T-Rex just stomp on them? If I ever saw a million kittens my heart would melt. KITTY this has to go into my pile of randomest shit I've ever read
Chris 246 Posted February 16, 2011 Well what jf said is right even if he did fuck up the weight, the point is you wouldn't be able to get ALL the kittens on it quick enough. Unless, the T-rex was asleep and they co-ordinated a mass pile on and enough managed to get on before it could get to its feet... then I guess it would suffocate. If the T-Rex was awake then I think it would just scare them all off, and eat a few if they weren't quick enough. Dinosaurs are srs bzns
jf1093 1 Posted February 16, 2011 Eh details... lbs, tonnes, its all the same in America lol But the fight would have to be pretty long, considering the T-Rex would have to deal with hairballs and it can only use its mouth, but it's pretty big so it can pick up like 15 at a time, then step on another 30-47, and kill another 23 with its tail, then repeat until he's full

MrLanceVanceDance 1 Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) There is no way a large bunch of kittens can take out a T-Rex. Unless those "kittens" are male lion cubs. Edited January 31, 2012 by MrLanceVanceDance

Spaz The Great 67 Posted July 17, 2012 Is this Martini dude just copying older posts in threads? Oh, and one must also take into consideration intelligence. Cats are very good hunters. They are sly, deceptive, and cunning.
_Ray 16 Posted July 17, 2012 But what incentive would the cats have to try to take down the T Rex? In reality it seems far more likely they would all scamper away. Plus like the others said above with that massive number of kittens they would never all be able to attack the dinosaur at once, there's just too much volume of cat to fit on or around the dinosaur at once. It would be like that movie 300 where the Spartans were way outnumbered but still won initially because they could only be attacked by so much force at once. BlackListedB 89 Posted July 20, 2012 Where's the logic in it? No matter how many kittens you have, it's not in their nature to attack and eat in that respect.
Spaz The Great 67 Posted July 21, 2012 Ah, but the question has NEVER been "Would the kittens kill the t-rex?", it's "COULD the kittens kill the t-rex?"
BlackListedB 89 Posted July 21, 2012 Ah, but the question has NEVER been "Would the kittens kill the t-rex?", it's "COULD the kittens kill the t-rex?" Still, most replies are based on what people know about KITTENS, not cats, not MUCH larger cats like lions and tigers. I think it's silly, actually, but based on what people know of the actual animals, I don't think the T-rex attacked every living creature, but we know cats aren't of that nature, so most I would think based on what we REALLY know, off hand with probably most memories going back to the Jurrassic Park films versus anything scientific
Spaz The Great 67 Posted July 22, 2012 That response didn't make any sense to me. At all. I'll read it again at a decent hour after a proper amount of sleep.
BlackListedB 89 Posted July 23, 2012 What I'm saying is how can you compare T-rex with Kittens when we know kittens that STILL EXIST, the dinosaurs are extinct. How that is confusing is beyond me too. People always say this, but I'm saying, we know kittens are near on defenseless. I think T-rex perhaps territorial, but not out to kill everything, I could be wrong
