How long should GTA:IV be?

Recommended Posts

Post your ideas on how long the main storyline in GTA:IV should be.

I want the game to last a lot longer then the previous GTA's. I want the short missions to be extremely hard, and the longer missions to be a bit easier.

The game should last about 200 hours so that way I won't be done in the next month. There should be a load of other stuff to do in the game to get 100% like side missions, girlfriends, etc.

Some missions which are a bit easy should last around 20-30 minutes in length.

Yeh a longer GTA would be nice i do agree with the 20-30 minute missions but they might get boring or just plain rubbish if it was a full action packed mission that was near 20 minutes then im ok with that

they should have a real 100% this time just to make it a bit longer

maybe different endings so you have to play it through again for the other endings

not have the ability to unlock the whole island after a while make sure it takes a long time before any of the map is unlocked some more

There should be 5 islands in the game, and once you complete the game the 5th island should be unlocked. This way you would be able to still have fun even if you already beat it.

First island-begginig of game

Second island-25%

Third island-50%

Fourth island-75%

Fifth island-100%

I cant really agree with that, because you will be able to fly probably by like the 3rd island, and that way, you would get all islands unlocked. And if the game is long, who would want go all the way to 100% just to unlock an island. In San Andreas, if you finish all missions, you unlock all islands, plain and simple. This is just too much to go through. <_<

well maybe not 100% fully maybe 100% in missions but 100% fully is a better idea i think and when you unlock the last island the 100% rating goes down to 90% so you have to do some extra things at the last island

Yeah, but GTA isn't a game where you loose interest quickly. I play GTA every day and I still have lots of interests in it.

NO. NO EFFIN' GIRLFRIENDS! That was one of THE stupidest aspects of SA, probably only beat out by territories and gang wars((I DESPISED those)).

I want it to take me 2 months to beat. Not too short, but not so long that I lose interest in it.

Maybe a month and a half for just the storyline. And another half for the extras like races and challenges.

Well, I don't agree that missions should last 20-30 minutes. So, you played the mission for 29:50 and then somebody killed you. You have to start all over! Think how much time you would waste on repeating these missions! Not that I hate long missions, just thats not gta style since you can't save the game on a mission.

I agree that you should get cool rewards for 100%, but not the new island. First, that would mean that you wouldn't be able to fly until 100%, second, you wouldn't get any missions, hidden packages or any secret stuff on it so it would be rather pointless and you wouldn't get familiar with it.

And I also agree that you should do absoloutely everything avaliable for 100%, not that everybody wants to achieve 100% but to make the gameplay more interesting for us who play after the end of the line and only then the stats would show the real completed percentage.

no on missions that could be 20-30 minutes it could do what it did for me on the last mission on SA i was meant to catch sweet but ran him over and i thought i would have to do it all again but it started me at the start of the chase which was good.

so missions like them could have checkpoints in so if you fail it will start at the last checkpoint a win-win situation

Nah, that's only special for the last mission and it's ok.

But first, we need more missions for the GTA4 to last longer, not long missions, OK for the last one, but think for example to get supply lines where you need to destroy 40 couriers, or to get N.O.E. where you have to fly 40km to the drop corona and back, all the time under the radar.

Second, long missions would make GTA4 boooooooooring because short ones give you more dynamic gameplay. e.g. to unlock some new features in the game, you would have to play the game for a very long time because only after you complete the mission that feature would be unlocked.

Let's take the Heist strand in LV for example. Of course, you could complete all it's mission (plus the caligula casino ones) in one go, a one loooooong mission with save points and all that, but then you would unlock stuff like Millie's house, sex shop or Levianth at desert airstrip after the last mission, because, as I told, stuff is unlocked after the mission.

And third, I personaly didn't liked the save point at last mission. If you split up the mission, second part becomes less interesting and you care much less about failing the mission than if you do it all in one go. But, as I said, thats the special mission.

I would suggest more missions to lenghten the gameplay-time, not for completing 100%, many people won't be able to do that.

And to have alternative missions or something, because dead people cannot be called upon.

ok for one they can make a 5th island where once you beat the game you get it but not unitil becasue there is many ways they can do this so you can 't fly over it to reach it one is to make it only reachable by airport planes so that means different country or what ever meaning you to get to and to get out of the city must be through the air port

the second way is to not have the island load till you beat the game.

and if they made the game last 6 months that means the release will be in like 2012 which I do not want to wait that long. and you may say it would not take that long but hears what would happen they would start now make the game and round it's finishing time the graphic for the game are getting out dataed so guess what they have to go thru the whole game and rerender it all. also it would increace teh time it would take because CG animation takes time and there would be more cut sceens and if there wern't a lot of cut sceens it would get boaring becasue like any gamer cut sceens are a key part of the game and I would not liek to play for 20 hours stright to see the next cut sceen.

and also they game dose not have to be long just that you can do a lot more becasue the best thing about GTA is free roming not the missions it may be teh mission for some people with the story lien but for me it is free roming and doign what ever you feel like.

and if you couls have 2 player split screen muilty vechiel I could litterly play that game for 20 years and still have not done every thing. also a could feature could be that your able to scale building snap peoples necks for stealth missions. I really want to see GTA to take the next step and have game play liek other shooter mission but they must not change GTA in to a full shooter.

and I do not want to see extra tuff for really doing 100% of the game becasue I do not have time to go find every thing and iot would piss me off if they gave a really cool ability item car or what ever to 100% game I think you should get somethign for 100% missions. because if they gave a ability like matrix mode to 100% every thing in teh game every one would want it but not every one can get that far because some of us have jobs and school and some of us have 2 jobs and school and also some peopel may have 2 jobs school and have to take care of their own family and be there for sick family member adn there is some people that there main consern is how am I going to skip school today so I can play more GTA

I say this because I am busy and I got GTA SA teh first day it came out and I still haven't beat the game one of the main reasons was that I had an old vesion of the ps2 and the game lept frezzing at oen point so I could not continue so I got a new ps2 and was able to play farther and for the fact I liek to fool around to much

Well if I'm right. I think the ps3 will have blue-ray disks. Which can hold like 100GB or something.. So its quite possible the game could have lots and lots of missions!

I think it should be bastard long, im talking two months just for the main missions. But a map no bigger than SA.

na, bigger map, The contry side in s-a didn't have so much mission if you looke at size, but it's stil fun, the dessert two.

map should be 2 times bigger :dribble::drool: And loads of mission. Liki even for a gamer who is the whole day playing it should take more than 2 months.

and what about the pc then :( or the 360

I think GTA 4 should be the same size as San Andreas, but everything is more improved and in better detail, for example, the cars have petrol gauges and can flash your headlights.

The main storyline shouldn't be too long (for regular players), but it should take much more time to get 100% (for addicted like me).
