Sound problem

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I have a problem with my Vice City.

When i play the game and listen (to the sounds) and look at the VC intro movie, everything is normal.

but when i come in the VC menu: i can't hear any sound :!:

so I went to audio options and there stood a message: NO SOUND HARDWHERE.

I checked the game and everything was fine: unless there is no sound

no sound at all, no walking Tommy, no driving car, NO SOUND, SCARY :weird:

Does anyone knows how to fix this

It sounds like you haven't got a good enough sound card or you've got an error on it

That doesn't make any sense.

I allready said that there is no problem with the sound, It worked in the intro movie and It works fine with everything, exept when i play VC.

Lol, that doesn't make any sense either

You just said that "there is no problem with the sound", but the topic title is "sound problem"

Anyway, what exactly is your problem?

If you have no problems playing other games , i recommend you just , like what Morpheus said , reinstall the game ! But you may want to backup your saved game files .

I think that i better uninstall and than install the game again.

It's really stupid, 2 days before the problem everything was fine.

But after that i got the sound problem only when i play Vice City

I haven't had that before, so it's very strange. :bashhead:

I found what the problem was:

i was desperate :'( so i wanted to delete the VC directory but it gave an error: cannot delete audio file.....

so i got to the audio map and searched for the file that caused the error :jumpon:

i used all audio players and they gave a error that they could not play it. :pissedred:

fortunately i had a back-up of VC directory B) and searched for the stupid sound file and that one could be payed  (it was something I (VCPP Master) had never heard in VC)

i got to the real VC derectory to the audio map with the error and i wanted to delete that map, but i couldn't do that either because that stupid sound file was in it. :bashhead:

i tryed alternative ways to delete the map, but with no luck.

than i deleted all the working files in the map, with only the error file in it.

than i was able to move it somewhere else (but i still have that file on my pc and don't know a way to get rid of it, maybe know :?: )

at leas i was able to move the back-up audio map to the real VC directory and:

:w00t:everything worked fine again

Sorry, but how did you solve the problem.

I didn't understand any of that. I've had the game for ages now, but haven't been able to get the sound working.
