Original posted on GTAForums by me and made by me, since it's mine and it was actually given over to another member(s) on GTAForums without my permission, I don't see why I shouldn't use it here too. Since legally, it is mine, and I can use it as I wish.

• Games Official Name: CONFIRMED.

The has been entitled Grand Theft Auto 4/Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA4/GTAIV). It was expected, and has been confirmed by many other facts and news reports that have arised. Such as the official website for Grand Theft Auto IV being http://www.rockstargames.com/grandtheftauto4/ as well as the game being announced as "GTA4" by many game developers, Rockstar employees and game magazines. Now the '4' does not stand for the 4th GTA game. Because as we know, the officially 4th GTA game was GTA Vice City. The game series is worked as follows:

  • Grand Theft Auto 1 - GTA 1 & GTA London 1964
  • Grand Theft Auto 2
  • Grand Theft Auto 3 - GTA III, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas - GTA Liberty City Stories and GTA Vice City Stories could also be included in this.
  • Grand Theft Auto 4

So it can be put simply as 'a series of games on a new game engine with a new compilation of stories that clash with each other'. This means, GTA 3 was a series of games on the new 3D engine containing 3 games (5 if you include LCS and VCS) that all had there own story. When played together, you noticed them clashing together where you meet people before/after another game or visited places that you had or would soon do business in.

Another way of knowing that this is currently confirmed is to look at the official site and see the logo:

grandtheftautoIVlogo213.png

As you can see, the name "Grand Theft Auto IV" has been registered and is now a Registered Trademark of Rockstar Games and Take2Interactive. So it is near certain the game will be called Grand Theft Auto IV/Grand Theft Auto 4 and will be a series of new GTA games that run on a new game engine, with a new compilation of stories that will clash together, exactly the same as the Grand Theft Auto 3 series of games.

• Main Character: CONFIRMED.

The main character for Grand Theft Auto IV is a Eastern European man by the name of Niko Bellic, who has come to Liberty City after emails from his brother. He is suspected to be around the age of 35-40.

Here is a more organised view of all the main characters that have been confirmed:

Character Voice Actor News Source Character Information
Niko Bellec

---

---

Niko is the protagonist in GTA 4, an Eastern European immigrant. He is tricked into coming to Liberty City by his cousin, Roman. Roman claims he has two women, four hot tubs, fifteen sports cars, and money. Niko believes it. He comes to Liberty City to live the "American Dream". Niko is constantly arguing with Roman. He is a tough character, though.
Roman

---

---

Roman is Niko's cousin, he is the reason why Niko travels to Liberty City as Roman says he's living the high life with fast cars and women.
Elizabeta

---

---

Not much is know about Elizabeta at this time, although she does appear on a GTA 4 artwork which was released.
Little Jacob

---

---

Little Jacob is a Caribbean arms dealer, and one of Niko's close associates. He is very good friends with Roman, so expect the same traits. If you find yourself low on ammo, or just need a little more firepower, give him a call. Since walking up to your doorstep and handing you a AK-47 is frowned upon in Liberty City, he will give you a location for the exchange. More than likely a dark alley, or a shady pawnshop.
Francis McCreary

---

---

McReary is a corrupt cop that has some dirt on Niko's past. Meaning he will more than likely use that as leverage against Niko. Watch out for this character, he is not one to be trusted.
Tom Goldberg

---

---

Goldberg is a lawyer working for Goldberg, Ligner & Shyster, a law firm based in Liberty City, in one of the early missions Niko kills Goldberg in his office
Karen

---

---

The receptionist from Goldberg, Ligner & Shyster, who calls Niko to inform him about his interview, is called Karen.

The table will be updated whilst information comes in.

• Setting and Theme: CONFIRMED.

Grand Theft Auto IV will be set in Liberty City. Unlike GTA III, Grand Theft Auto IV will have a new look, which means a new city, not the small little Version like GTA III has, but looks more the same as New York. We knew it was this setting because it was shown in the first and second trailer of GTA IV. It may not be as big as San Andreas, but the interior will be detailed.

• The Box Art:

On Monday, 29th October 2007, Grand Theft Auto fans from across web were surprised that Rockstar Games released some Boxart Covers, around 3 were shown. The total of boxarts that were sent were 6 covers (3 Covers for each Console). Here are the images:

pci1.png pic2.png pic3.png

But after 1 day, Rockstar Games confirmed that it wasn't the official cover. These boxarts were just teasers that will sit on the pre-order shelves of your local gaming stores. Rockstar Games also said this:

"We have always kept the final art under wraps until shortly before the official launch of the game."

So, I guess we might not get to see the real boxart until it's released or near to the release, unfortunately.

UPDATED: Just recently, Rockstar Games officially announced that trailer 3 will be coming on December 6th and with it, the official boxart on top of the date. Here is a thumbnail of the boxart:

Cool... but there are loads of header designs on the internet where you can just type it in. :P

Yeah, but self generators are usually crappy, like Chris said, and usually contain logos and web URL's to where you made that banner. I love Photoshop, and if I wanted to generate one I would make my own generator in PHP, it's easy enough to do.

Factsheet is very useful though and deserves its pinnage. And the link to my recent article is useful too ;)

Thanks for the pin mate. Yeah, I thought your post was very informative, sadly with it being most speculation at the current point in time I couldn't use most of it in the factsheet, but I felt it was still very important information and should be linked too somewhere.

Yeah and usually they're absolutely shit and it looks just like a 5 year old has been playing around in Paint or whatever. ;)

NaturalMotion and Rockstar Games, Inc. Announce Development Partnership

Upcoming Next-generation Titles to Utilize euphoria Motion Synthesis Engine

Oxford, UK – Feb. 27, 2007 – NaturalMotion, the award-winning developer of 3D animation

technology based on Dynamic Motion Synthesis (DMS), today announced a partnership with

Rockstar Games, Inc., the world-renowned publishing label, to integrate NaturalMotion’s

revolutionary euphoria engine into upcoming next-generation Rockstar Games titles.

Rockstar’s integration of euphoria is well advanced, with today’s announcement following

several months of close collaboration between the two companies.

Based on NaturalMotion’s DMS technology, euphoria uses the processing power of

PLAYSTATION®3 and Xbox 360TM to simulate the human body and motor nervous system,

thus creating fully interactive game characters that act differently every time. With euphoria,

games move away from canned animation, towards a much richer, life-like experience that

is unique to the player.

“euphoria is about giving people an interactive experience they have never seen before. We

now have the processing power to simulate humans, and the possibilities for games are

endless,” said Torsten Reil, CEO of NaturalMotion.

“In Rockstar, we have found a partner that shares this vision, and is renowned for creating

some of the most ground-breaking and immersive games in the industry. We are thrilled and

honored to work with a partner of such high caliber, and look forward to helping create

amazing titles.”

Further announcements regarding specific titles will follow at a later date.
