i don't understand? you mean try to start game without a dvd? how is this possible. no I haven't. have downloaded 4 updates on this site, .net framework 3.5 sp1, redist, RGSC 1.88Mb update sp3, launchgta4.exe and visual c++ update. i've followed the installation activation as per rockstar site for offline play, do not want to play online. although there were 2 versions of visual c++ update and one got deleted. only one now at 5.21Mb. i haven't done anything to enable ports, don't know which ones or if it's necessary. firewalls/anti-vir/win security settings are disabled when try to run game, so it should start? no go

thanks for reply jesse. using win xp pro sp3 as per game reqs. updated. pc is spec correct. there is something blocking the launch of the game. in task manager gtaiv.exe shows up but RGSC error message is as per topic title. why wont it start?

bought retail dvd gta4. has been activated ok. all patches/updates done. cant start game either way. comp specs ok. anyone know why RGSC.exe and LaunchGTAIV.exe are not working together? please, help needed to get game going. thank you.
