sxc
Hey, I have big problem with my GTA IV. It doesn't seem to work, no matter what I try. My first problem was instalation - I couldn't even open any of the EXE files on the DVD disc, but booting my PC in a safe mode worked. (but that's strange, I've never experienced such problem when installing games or apps...) I activated the game, but there's no way to play it. After clicking GTA IV shortcut on my desktop, there are like few seconds of "thinking", checking DVD's validity, then a small window (something like command line) pops-up for a half of a second and disappears. I also can't get RGSC to work, it always crashes just after opening it ("application was encountering a problems and now needs to close, sorry for inconveniences" - window tells something like this, I have a non-english WinXP). I tried installing a patch from Rockstar, then some tricky ways of reinstalling .NET 3.5 SP1 (it didn't work for me, installation longed for 3 hours of doing nothing - progress bar after a few minutes came to the end, but I had no "finish" button, just "cancel" - and i finally killed it), and playing with drivers. Nothing works. Do you know what may cause such problem? Anybody had the same and dealed with it? BTW I heard that illegal copy works great, what makes me mad... I bought a legal one because wanted to thank R* for their work, but I have only problems with my copy.
TM™
What's your PC specs mate? I assume it could be that which could be causing the problem.
sxc
WinXP Pro SP3 Intel Core 2 Duo 1,86 GHz 1 GB RAM GF 7600 GT 256MB GDDR3 It's a bit lower than the requirements are, but my friend has the same configuration and is able to play. The worst is that I don't get any error code - at least I would know what's wrong.
