Camera Angle in Vehicles

I've always come here for mods & stuff for GTA3 but have never posted, so I wanted to begin by saying Hello to all Admins, Mods, and members. Also, thank you for making this community what it is = the GREATEST source of GTA content on the planet.

That said, here's my issue: I hate the default position of the chase cam when you're in the vehicles. It's too low, and it doesn't "chase" you around corners, and with all the high-speed turning you're supposed to do to complete the missions it's driving me insane because I can't see what's coming. I end up toggling to the cinematic view & back because when I correct the camera with the mouse (I use mouse & kb) the camera hangs in that position for a second before returning to default.

Is there any way to tweak a config file somewhere to place the chase cam higher? The chasing issue isn't that big a deal, more of an annoyance. I've searched around here, even googled and yahoo'd, and have found some complaining about the same thing, but no solutions. Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: I see a camera hack was added to the download list yesterday...I had already found ThunderHawk's anti-reset camera hack (camhack.zip) but it must be enabled each time GTA:SA is started.
