the CD was clean. no scratches

i cant play my GTA. Everytime i clicked 'Play GTA San Andreas', a window will pop out and say 'wrong disc inserted'. I think i might have done something with the 'gta3.img' file. i installed the BMW mod and rename the file i've spoken. I tried re-installing it but it didnt work, comes out with the same problem. So then i uninstalled/deleted all the mods and the game still doesnt work. Is there anyway to fix this?
