  1. Is it just me or is it really retarted? The performance you get there has nothing to do with the one you get when playing the actual game. First of all it is done during night , which means much smoother gameplay since there are no shadows/advanced light effects and even the view distance seems to be decreasing. Moreover, there is a minimum number of other vehicles and no pedestrians. It's like a deserted city with 4-5 bikes shooting each other which is as far from the actual gameplay as it can get. The benchmark after the patch showed 45fps for me and while playing the game I barely get over 30.
  2. You mean the graphics card is incopatible with the drivers or the game? I am quite sure that GTA4 would't run on a 8400gs though..
  3. These drivers have made a huge difference for me. I was able to increse my settings while at the same time get a constant +10fps and the game itself has become smoother and I don't hear my PC screaming any more.
  4. Strangely enough after 4-5 hours of playing (not constant) I have yet to see a single bug/glitch/crash people claim the game is full of. Maybe I'm just very lucky
  5. Ok , I've managed to get my hands on the game today so i'll just post the benchmark . Video mode :1280x1024(75Hz) Texture quality :Medium Render Quality :High View Distance :25 Detail Distance :30 Average FPS :41.52 CPU Usage :91% System Memory Usage :96% Video Memory Usage :99% I'm rather satisfied with the results. It turns out than an average card like the 9800GT can perform decently at this game (the 1024 version ought to work even better) matched with an average proccessor and RAM. Moreover I'd like to point out that the Drivers for the card are really old (the ones that came with it) so I'm confident that I'll be able to see an even better perforamance in the near future after updating them.
  6. Damn , I thought as much about my RAM. Too bad upgrading is not an option atm but it should be able to handle it methinks. What really bugs me about the GFX is that the game is really hungry for video memory. I mean 600mb just for the high level textures + about 300 for an average resolution? I've also read that on 256mb cards its sets the default settings to low and doesn't even let you change it. Never in my life have I seen a game like that , let's see how it goes on Saturday then *fingers crossed*
  7. Hello everybody , I've created this topic in order to find out if there are people out there who have tested the game with a nvidia 9800GT. Although the card is almost identical to the 8800 I've been hearing several stuff about low performance with the 9x series due to some sort of incompatibility with the game , is that true? Moreover , I would like to post my system specs and ask if you guys think I'd be able to pass the medium/average settings with my current rig (provided the game works that is). Windows XP home edition SP3 Intel Core Duo 6700 @ 2.67Ghz 2gb RAM Asus 9800GT 512mb Hybrid power 10gb of free HD space (working on freeing up some space atm ) Thanks in advance
  8. Hmm , are you sure that an 9600GT can max it? Although it's a rather good card I wouldn't expect anything worse than an 9800GT to be able and handle it on full , at least not at a decent res.
  9. For the amount of money you want to spend you can get a brand new 9800GT , a good offer indeed.
  10. Silly question incoming : It says you need windows xp service pack 3. Does that mean that it doesn't work on sp2 or just that it isn't tested on it? Personaly I am not aware of any major differences between sp2 and sp3.
  11. From what I hear HD 2400 is pretty much like an integrated graphics card so I highly doubt it'll even run the game.
  12. That's a hell of a machine you have there
  13. It really depends on how you are looking at it. Considering the proccessors with 4 cores yes , core duo may even be considered as outdated, but, for the average user still stuck with a Pentium 4/D it certainly looks like a beast. Hell , if the requirements weren't considered high this very thread we are posting in wouldn't even exist.
  14. Crap , no way my 9800 GT , core due 2.67Ghz and 2gb ram can max it :'( Never in my life have I seen a game with so high hardware requirements. Even the minimum ones need a beast of a machine and meeting them doesn't guarantee you decent fps to actually be able and play the game. Probably the biggest problem is that one needs a dual core proccessor which is pretty silly considering that many( not to say most) users are still stuck with a single core one which isn't great but it at least runs new games.
  15. The 8600 can handle 5x SA running on max at the same time.
