when i made a skin for a car, i replaced the original skin, put it back in gta3.img, started the game, and then when i try to buy the skin, the game crashes! please help!!!!!!!

1. make sure you have the filename 100% correct no room for spelling errors.

2. make sure you have a total of 16,297 files inside the GTA3.IMG if you have too few it will crash for sure.

3. if you are using IMG Tool 2.0 sort by name make sure you don't have 2 file names the same.

You might want to try opening gta3.img with Txd Workshop. Then you can check the skin and compare it with the others for that car. See if the names are correct and labelled skin1, skin2, etc. (for example) so that they're numbered right. Then check yours for proper texture name, compression on, etc. by clicking on 'Properties'. Compare with one or more of the original skins to see what all the attributes should be.

If you see a problem with the graphic, you're already in the right program and can import a fresh one right into the texture where it sits in the .img file. Much easier for testing this way!

BUMP! Can someone please help?? >.<

We need more information, at least I do. What tools are you currently using to edit the GTA3.IMG? TXD Workshop is a great tool you can visually see the TXD and edits very quick. Also it will help us to know which car you are editing. The more you can tell us the better we can help you.

Here is what you need to do.

I placed your jpeg into the models directory named it "Your Mod" jpegs won't import to GTA so we need to make it either a bmp, png, or tga.

doheafmeqv.jpg

Next I opened your mod in Paint:

llostdgfpn.jpg

Then I did File -> Save As choosing a 24-bit bitmap image renaming it "Uranus3body256.bmp" You will see where I got the filename.

gassunybpq.jpg

Now run TXD Workshop (don't have it? then get it) Open IMG and select GTA3.IMG

When then list on the left appears scroll down to the very bottom. Most car paint jobs are near the bottom.

sdgapswdel.jpg

Scroll up slowly and you will find this:

zakzgxhzwm.jpg

Now use the Import to load your mod that was made into a bitmap:

whwdgkusdl.jpg

If your screen looks like this just Save and Exit.
