It suddenly occured to me today that I hadn't cleared up the fact of the Voice Actor in GTA3 called Chris Phillips. If you complete GTA3 you'll notice in the credits that it says: It also says this in the GTA3 instruction manual. Although we have exactly the same name it is purely coincidental and we are in no way related to each other and I am just a webmaster in England, not a guy in America with a kick-ass job. According to US and UK census' Phillips is a very very common name so I guess there are quite a lot of people who share my name, but hey i dont care

Well some of you (who run forums) may already know that I made a Vice City skin for Invision Power Board. But if you don't I will tell you anyway. Ok its pink, but they are the colours of Vice City so it makes sense doesn't it, I just like to think its helping out the GTA community and i have in fact seen a couple of forums using it (gtafour.com) so its obviously not that bad although i can see why some people might not like it. There is some new info from a German games magazine called Play Playstation regarding San Andreas : -Carl can attack enemies from behind after hiding and sneaking in the shadows. -Carl can increase his stamina for the amount of time he can remain underwater for depending on his fitness and how much he practises swimming ( So if Carl is fat and rarely swims then he will not be able to swim for long , but if he regulary swims and is thin and fit then he can remain in the water for a longer period ) -The members of the Orange Grove Families ( the gang that Carl , his brother Sweet , Smoke and Ryder are part of ) will wear green clothes. -The Ballas ( The rival gang of the OGF ) will wear purple clothes. -Bicycles will move forward when the X button is held down , But tapping the X button will make CJ peddle faster. -Carl can now roll to the side while engaged in combat. -A choice of haircuts are available such as bald heads , dripping jheri curls , a towering flattop and the famous Afro haircut , but players will also be able to pick between a choice of beards and other facial hair. -Players can now pivot the camera around the car to gain a better view. -Models include 50% more polygons than those of vice city. thanks to sean breen for submitting this.

Any suggestions on getting the forums more active over the summer, the site is doing fine but the forums are doing awfully bad and its annoying. I cant really think of anything else to do

well you do have the vice city mod manager dont you? if you dont then be sure to download it. Extract the vcm file into the directory where you installed mod manager into \vcmm\mods\vcm then start mod manager and install it I actually wrote a Download FAQ which you can read here - http://www.thegtaplace.com/index.php?page=downloadfaq which should explain things more clearly. Also I am adding manual installs of most cars soon.

The GTA Place has been running now since the 29th of November 2002, so thats over 1 and half years and it's been mostly me by myself, Dennis has helped with certain things but we need some more permanent staff who will be active. The positions we need filled are the following: 1 News Poster - To post any news that happens 1 Download Manager - Someone who can search other sites and get mods, vehicles etc. (with their permission) to be hosted on this site 1 Content Helper - Someone to help me add the 'missing' content for GTA Classics, GTA3 and Vice City. We may be able to also have 1 free lance staff who can do a bit of all three of these jobs. If you are interested in this oppurtunity please send an email to me, chris [AT] thegtaplace [DOT] com saying why you think you should get the job, If you are going for a certain position e.g News Poster then it would help if you wrote in fluent, accurate, coherent English which is easy to read and doesn't sound child-like.

The Play (UK magazine) has 23 awesome screenshots, all of them are new. Unfortunately we aren't allowed to post the screens on our websites but here are a few descriptions of the screens: 1. Two people on bikes (one is probabaly Carl but I havent looked closely yet 2. Two vehicles that look like a Sabre and a Linerunner 3. A dirt bike in a forest area (trees look very detailed) 4. Someone getting into a truck 5. Some guy on a quad bike in a high up dusty area 6. A Landstalker (or something similar) driving through a forest, with two guys on a dirt bike chasing them 7. close up of the back of someone on a quad 8. The HUGE mountain in the background with what looks to be a derelict area in the foreground 9. I think this is a Walton with a shop in the background 10. an offroad truck with a bridge high above it 11. a truck driving along a coastal road, you can see the sea in the background 12. Probably CJ running with a gun Also something I forgot to post about was the 4 new screens in the latest Game Informer magazine, however we aren't allowed to show these either.

I think all of them are good games (apart from Max payne and RCT) but I think its a tie between Gran Turismo and GTA3 for me

A new and upcoming Modding Team called "BadBoys" have confirmed that their first mod (expected to be released October 2004) will be a Total Conversion mod for Vice City, It will contain new weapons, veichles and much more. Details will be brought to you when released as there upcoming website is still in Production. Two mods from MushMush who is one of the team members will be added to our database soon.
