4890

Well, the 4890 is out, and to me, it doesn't look like much more than a slightly OC'd 4870, for $40 more.

What do you guys think?

NVIDIA/ 4870 Killer or bust?

P.S., just so you all know, 800 Stream CPUs, is not actually 800. For a rough comparison to NVIDIA, divide by 5.

Not interesting if you ask me.

New chip? My ass. R7x0 (9 I think..) seems to just be an R770. No difference at all.

Yeah, neat card... but just a 'fill in the gap of the market segment' one..

In the mean time, the GTX295 reigns supreme.

Nvidia = fail.

Good argument, kid.

The 4890 is better than the 4870

Woah! Really? Like, you aren't kidding me or something?

Anyway, conclusion:

HD4890. Didn't live up to expectations. Thought that so called new chip (ahum, steping maybe?) would deliver quite a bit bigger performance boost. Drivers probably won't be any different either. So, basically a card for the people that don't mind spending slightly more money than the price of the 4870, but don't want to either make the leap to the X2, or go the green way (GTX275 or GTX285)
