Modding Problem

I've been trying to mod the cars of gta vice city. I've tried all ways, script, manually and vcmm. The car does mod but its only in one colour and you cant see the detail like the pictures when you download the mod for the car. I was wondering if it's the same for everyone or am i doing something wrong since theres hardly any detail on the car. Sorry i cant post a picture of it.
