deathagent6
hello, new to modding. i just went and downloaded some mods, got the imgtool thing, also had the txd workshop, but that sucks. couldnt use the mods i inputted cause i couldnt transfer them back into original .img file(which i backed up beforehand). working on a .txd level right now. but i couldnt save the files back to the ps2 sanan disk i had in the comp. so how do i get the modded files into the ps2, or into the disk? help would be appreciated. huge fan of the gta series, want to go 1 step further with it. also, how can i make my own mods for clothes, skins, etc? thnx. Pandora
First of all, if you want to mod, get PC version. PS2 version is just way to much of a hasle, and you have to first make your ps2 capable of playing disc's you have burned yourself.

Well we won't know that until you give us your specs. Anyway you'll need a modchip and a DVD burner. You have to put the contents of the San Andreas DVD on your hard drive, mod it, burn it to a blank DVD, put your modchip in and play.
tilly
^its actually not that easy. modchips usually dont work with ps2. you really have to put the new file into the CD and save it to the CD, then usually it messes up anyways.
chris82
Modchips don't work with PS2? Are you high? There are modchips specifically made for EACH system and PS2 is no exception. And you can't save files to the San Andreas DVD. How the hell can you write to an already written-to DVD?
tilly
yeah i know you cant write to an already, i just left that detail out because you said it. i was talking about the one you are about to burn. and modchips are just modifications, there not model or that kind of stuff, maybe this guy wants that stuff. if he wanted just little mods he could get AR max or somthin. deathagent6
soooooo... i need a modchip and dvd-rw's, huh? the game itself is 4 gigs+ on disk. so i can use a dvd-rw to do that, plus all the mods i want? im guessing that i will have to do each a different version, tho. dont think all the mods im gonna put on sa will fit on one disk. i have something like 60 mods i want to use, and some of them are pretty large, like some added-on island mods, and the gta3/vice city/sanandreas all-in-one map mod. so it looks like im gonna have different versions of the game. also, that link you gave me chris82, are you sure that link is legit and safe to use? thank all of you for your help. i now have an idea of what i can do. if you all have any more details or info i could use on this project, please let me know. thanks again. da6
Jared
Modding for the PS2 is illegal in some countries, they just happen to be the biggest countries. In order to keep everything legal I'll lock this topic as I feel it has already crossed the line. @chris82 - Being your a Super Mod, you should have been stopping this in it's tracks, not helping with it. Because it is illegal, and the rules state clearly that anything illegal is not allowed to be discussed.
chris82
Woah woah woah. In places where console modding is "illegal," there are certain circumstances for legality. In most places, including the US and UK, the rule is: There are stiff penalties in some countries for some types of modding. Video game console mod chips are only legal if they have been fitted specifically so that a person can play games purchased from another region. They are not allowed to be used for the illegal playing of copied video games. So technically, legal modchips are those that allow games from other regions. If you use a modchip to play illegally copied (read: pirated) games, you are then in trouble. However, since he owns San Andreas, he is allowed to make copies. Deathagent's ip is from Germany. Many countries in the EU have different laws. I don't know its legality in Germany but modchips are legal in Italy and Spain. But not wanting to start fighting with Jared, I'll lock this once more.
