The first thing to do would be to check everything under services and startup. That should get you back to where you were before.
If you have an intel WLAN card, enable intel services and Wireless Zero Config services.

I don't smoke, but I don't mind it.
Ever since this college instituted the rule of no smoking inside buildings, everyone smokes outside my window. I dont mind cigars, but when my room fills with marajuana smoke I get a lil nervous.

I'll add this - I've been burned quite a few times by "Windows Genuine Advantage". Everytime it happens, I pull out my retail version of XP Pro and give Microsoft a Call. My parents' computer is the only computer to be running that XP (CD and Key never used on another computer) and it deactivates itself 3-4 times a year.

Wondering if going with 64 bit would make the game run better.

My 8600 GT is struggling to play it (mind you this is a laptop card), but I have it O/Cd a bit and I have the settings wayyyy down.
I was running it at 800x600 at first, but when I upped the resolution my framerate went up ... wtf?

Jbird, we have a topic for that question. But the Quadro 140m card is less than the recommended 8600GT. I have the 8600GT and it's barely ... barely chugging along.

I bought it and it has been instlling for 40 minutes now ... hope that isn't an indication of how it will run.

I just found a retailer that sells it locally (well 30 miles) and I'm going to be picking it up in a few hours. I'll be running it (hopefully) on a 2.0 core 2 and 8600GT. Have card, will overclock!

I'm done with classes for the day. I have $500 in my wallet right now. I have a car. I really want to go get the game.
But I got Call of Duty World at War a few weeks ago and I'm not done with it yet. UGH
I also might have to get a different computer to run it ... the laptop might not run it.

Unless you plan on doing any gaming, the Inspiron 1525 will work great for what you need. It only has the Intel X3100 intergrated graphics card.
