MP3 player\User tracks

I'm interested to see how everyone chooses music to listen to in-game. I know a lot of people just use their entire collection. But me... I pick and mix. I choose tracks that suit the atmosphere of the game and (preferably) belong to the era in which it's set. (Though music released 3 or 4 years after the game is set is okay) So, while I might have a few songs from 1987-88 in my Vice City user tracks folder, you won't find me listening to anything from the 90s or 00s, because it just doesn't suit.

I also choose music that suits the atmosphere of the game, so much of the music on my GTA3 playlist is somewhat gloomy and moody, with a lot of electronic music, industrial metal, instrumental hip hop and britpop (Imagine driving around the Red Light District at night in the middle of one of Liberty's many rainstorms while listening to DJ Shadow's "Building Steam With a Grain of Salt" and you'll see what I mean.); while my Vice City playlist has a brighter, faster, wildier mixture of 70s and 80s glam rock, pop, metal and electro. You get the idea.

I just put songs I like for a period of time then change and put other favorites. No, you ain't weird.

And the music I put fits perfectly to San Andreas' Los Santos atmosphere but I use the same type of music in VC and III as well.

i dont worry about it suiting the time period, although that sounds like a cool idea. i just cant be bothered though. i usually put whatever is my favourite at the time.

wow thats a lot. well at the moment, i think i have 2 or 3 files. but each file is a whole cd of a album. i think theres 1 disc of electro house sessions, and the other is sessions 5..thats in vice city. san andreas i havent played for a while but i last had, i just put the last playlist that was on my ipod in the folder.
