When SAAC is runnng GTA SA wont start.

So i recently bought (on disc) GTA SA for my pc, installed it, and am trying to use San Andreas Advanced Control. With SAAC running, when i try to start the game, i get an error right away, "gta_sa.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." ("debug", "send error report", "close program")..

i tryed re installing the game, downloading SAAC again from a different site. I was told i probably need the san andreas 1.01 update, Ive tried both the US version (comes in a folder named SA_US_1.01_COLD). and a Euro version.

However when i try to start run the update i get a window that pops up saying.. "the updater will only update the american version of GTA san andreas to version 1.01. This updating can only occur when the original gta_sa.exe file is recognized.", I select OK and browse to find (C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\gta_sa.exe).. hit yes to start update.. Then i get a "patch error" "old file not found"....

I purchased the game in canada, theres no difference between canadian and us versions of the game is there?

Any ideas are appreciated, im kinda new to todays world of pc gaming

Try downgrading your game to 1.0. Later SKUs of GTASA may not be able to accept most user modifications, probably due to the Hot Coffee fiasco.
