Stojko
When I use them... can I also have my own file? Like use a 100% save file along with my normal gameplay? Just wondering...
Heavenly_Blade
Simple answer: Yes. you can have something like 10 save games. not sure on the accual number but you will have that one and you can make a new one.
Jared
It's 8 actually, you only get 8 slots for saves on both the console versions and PC versions of GTA San Andreas.
Stojko
Thanks for the answers, guys. Another question I have is, I reformat often, is there a way I can take my save file and other data and back it up to a flash drive or CD or anything when its time to wipe out my hard drive and I have to reinstall Grand Theft Auto? Rashon.
I've never tried it but I think you can. You can also upload it to some file uploading sites to be safe also. Edited January 21, 2007 by Rashon125
Stojko
I'm not overly concerned on where I save it, I just want to be sure that you can actually take the file and save it somewhere and then replace it. But then again... if you can replace 100% save files, then you should be able to replace your own, correct?
Jared
Correct, all saves are located in "My Documents\GTA San Andreas User Files\". All files with the entention ".b" are saved games. Each save looks like this: GTASAsfx.b x = number 1 - 8. 1 showing up first in the open and save menus and 8 showing up last.
Heavenly_Blade
yeah. that basicly covers it plus when you reload the game it doesnt delete the save files.
Stojko
That's good news to know (Jared). Heavenly Blade, I meant if I wipe out the whole computer (which deletes everything on the hard drive, including Windows) and have to start fresh, I'd need to keep a backup of my save file for that. Jared
Yep, definitely, you would not believe how common problems like that are. You get to a high point in a game, a computer problem whip's out your saves, and your stuffed. I wrote a program to auto-back them up once, not sure where it is now though.
