  1. The latest free DLC for GTA Online is out now in the shape of Cunning Stunts. Good news for everyone who likes to perform stunning... stunts in the game. Of course there's also the usual addition of brand new cars, clothing, accessories and whatnot. Unfortunately there's no way to create your own stunt races yet, though Rockstar have pointed out that this will be forthcoming on the 2nd of August, as well as more races and vehicles. If you want to win yourself some GTAV merch then Rockstar also have a sweepstakes open right now you can enter. If not, you could watch the trailer below, or you could read the full details on this update, or if that's not your thing there's always the full detailed patch notes.
  2. Might give it a go anyway and see if it improves in time.

  5. So yeah we're still alive... I know it's been a while since we last posted but no, we're not dead. Anyway, GTA Online is still going strong and Rockstar continue to provide free DLC updates for it. Next up is an update called Further Adventures in Finance and Felony. Today they released a trailer showcasing some of the new content. Check that out below. The DLC will hit your systems on the 7th June, and here's what Rockstar have to say about it.

  11. Looking into it. I don't think the site has been compromised, it's probably something Google automatically assumed after it indexed a topic posted by a spambot or something. Will try and get it removed asap.
  12. Earlier today Rockstar released the latest free DLC for GTA Online - Executives and Other Criminal. If you're rich, you're in for a treat as a ton of cool stuff has been added to the game for you to blow your load of money on, including a super yacht. Watch the trailer below to see what you'll be able to get up to now. Rather than copy and paste the article here, you can head over to the Newswire for full details on what's included in this latest update.

  14. Thought I'd make a pinned topic about this because the way Rockstar stops people from frying their GPU's is by limiting the graphics settings based on your graphics card's memory. Now this may sound like a good idea, however it only takes into account dedicated video RAM the graphics card has. For example, at the time of writing I have a nVidia GeForce 8800GTS with 320MB of RAM. This card can also make used of shared RAM (memory taken from your system's RAM, of which I currently have a total of 4GB). I'm not sure how much it is possible to use, but DxDiag reports me as having 2GB of graphics memory, pretty awesome, that means it's taken 1.7GB from my system RAM, meaning I've got 2.3GB left, plenty to play GTA IV. So, naturally I want to play on as higher settings as possible for my computer. But because the game only recognises 320MB of that video RAM, I'm severely limited. Here's what to do to get around those limits: Retail version instructions Create a shortcut on your desktop to the LaunchGTAIV.exe - by default this will be in C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV Right click the shortcut and click Properties Make sure the Shortcut tab is selected. You should see a field called "Target", edit this to say the following, making sure the path is correct, I'm just using the default here: That includes the quote marks and the options coming after the link to the path Click Apply Double click the shortcut to launch the game. Steam version instructions In steam, right click the game right click the game in Steam and go to Properties > Launch Options Add the command: -norestrictions -nomemrestrict Launch the game Screenshot To prove it works, here's what I ended up with. What happens if I'm a dumbass and turn up all the settings too high? Like I showed in the above screenshot? Well, this is what happened to me. There's simply not enough memory available to load up all the textures. Upon leaving the safehouse I was greeted by the following: However, the player models looked amazing! NOTE: Remember to be sensible with the settings. If you've got a shitty card then there's really no point turning everything up high, it'll be way too laggy to play. Play around with the settings until you reach a compromise between nice quality, and good framerate.
  15. Good news everyone! Next week will see the release of yet another FREE DLC for GTA Online, this one being all about lowriders, car customisation, and new vehicles and weapons. Compared to some previous DLC for the game, this one is packing a lot more content that has been widely requested by players, but it will be the first DLC unavailable to those still playing on PS3 or Xbox 360 consoles. Rockstar previously warned about this on the Newswire, explaining that "future content updates such as this are only possible on the newer and more powerful systems. As there isn’t enough memory available to add to the game on the older systems, we cannot make any more meaningful content updates without putting the entire game at risk." Read on below for full details of what's coming in this feature-filled DLC. Source: Rockstar Newswire

    San Andreas cheats

Short answer: no. Long answer: Well it's a modified port of the PC version, so it does have the PC cheat codes in it. The problem is you have no way to actually enter them. On standard Android devices you may be able to use keyboard apps such as GameKeyboard + to enter them, but I'm not sure there's anything like this available for Amazon devices.

    A little survey

Hope everyone's had a good Christmas. While we're getting a lot more traffic than usual I thought I'd take this opportunity to ask a you all a few questions. I'm currently debating whether or not to develop a mobile/lite/portable version of The GTA Place. However, I don't know if it's worth it or not. To find out if it is or not, I'd appreciate it if all of you could take a minute or so to answer the poll attached to this topic. Please answer honestly, it's no help to us if you vote dishonestly. Even if you don't give a shit about a mobile version of this website, please vote that way so we are aware of your opinion. If you have any additional comments to make you may post them here. Thanks!

  20. The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), responsible for assigning ratings to video games in North America, has now rated GTA: San Andreas for the PS3. Back in June, ratings were spotted for PS3 versions of both GTA III and Vice City, since then only GTA III has been released. This rating of San Andreas practically confirms existence of the game, and one would assume that both this and Vice City will be released in the near future, with Vice City logically arriving first, possibly alongside its release for iOS and Android. Permalink to the individual certificate. For anyone who wasn't following the news, the games are being released on the PSN Store as "PS2 Classics". What this means is they are direct ports of the original PS2 versions, and thus they unfortunately don't benefit from any remastered HD graphics or the addition of any trophies. That said, this is still great news for anyone who wants to play the games again and no longer has their original PS2 copies, or for those of you who are new to the franchise and perhaps never played these truly classic games. GTA3 is available on the PSN Store right now for just $9.99. There is currently no word on release dates for either Vice City or San Andreas, but we'll let you know whenever Rockstar or Sony give us an official announcement regarding these.
