    My New PC

Lol. But since I didn't print the rebates when I ordered, and waited until June 1st, they created new ones that I can't turn in, so now I'm gonna get back $20, instead of $65, forcing me to get this slightly smaller monitor, which still probably won't even fit on my desk. And for EVERYTHING, I ended up spending $2,140 on my PC, which my parents are NOT happy about. Put for the actual PC parts, I spent ~$1,830.

There's nothing wrong with gaming for fun, otherwise as you said, I wouldn't be on here. But really Husky, are you planning to be a reviewer at IGN? And my PS3 says you haven't signed on in 2 months.

    My New PC

I'm using software to transfer everything from my PC to my new PC. This includes AVG 8.5 Full, Spybot, and Zone Alarm. And my PC will be able to do everything yours can, and more. I can play any game out there right now with the hardware I got. In fact, my PC is so powerful, that I could EASILY convert H.264 to MPEG4, run Google Earth, Firefox with 12 tabs, record TV and run a virus scan all at the same time. I got PLENTY of RAM, plenty of CPU, (8 threader) plenty of GPU (GTX 275), and PLENTY of HDD (60GB SSD and 1TB WD Black). Fuck dat bitch. Also, it's not an auction site, and I didn't spend 5 grand. And seriously, gaming is a fairly useless hobby, that probably won't really get you too far in life. I only play GTAIV on my PS3 for like 2 or 3 hours a week at the most. Maybe like a 30 minutes after school a few days a week.

What? Look at the specs. My PC would slaughter yours with a rusty butcher knife. And again, how will mine not run IV? It clearly meets the requirements, and it's not like it's a $5,000 system. And I've seen others with similar specs run the game. And yes Husky, because GTAIV is the only thing you can do on a PC.

    My New PC

I got it from Newegg. And how won't GTAIV work? I'm gonna use it for pretty much everything. Firefox, MS Office, Google Earth, GTAIV, Music, Blu-Ray, TV Recording, Video Encoding, CD Ripping, etc. Lots of stuff, often all at the same time. It should all be compatible. What the fuck!?!?!? Can your piece of burning plastic beat this: AMD Phenom 9550 Quad-Core Proc., 6gb DDR2 Dual-Channel RAM, 640 gb HD, GeForce 9800GT GFX Card, 650Watt Power Supply. Running Windows Vista Home 64-bit OS. And for my monitor I am going to be using the Dell XPS 20'' Monitor. Beet dat Thats what I am getting as my new gaming computer/ recording computer. Any suggestions? Yeah, Intel. And yes, my PC would smoke that amateur piece of plastic burning suck ass dogshit.

But everything else will still work...........................(?) EDIT: Would I see a major difference between a 21.5" and a 23" monitor? I could save $40 and put myself back under $2,100 if I got the exact same 21.5" version of the monitor I selected.

First of all, I don't want to clock big. Second, because of HT, the i7 can process 8 threads at a time, basically making it an 8-core CPU. Also, Good News! Looks Like it won't quite be 2 weeks waiting time for my monitor!

    Hmmmm..... 4 Threads @ ~4.0 Ghz, or 8 Threads @ ~3.5 Ghz.

    My New PC

Looks like a GTX260 to me, buddy. I probably missed the 1TB though. And who cares about optical drives.. beh, they're all the same. And BD is useless for now. I don't know what type of user you are, but 63 GB is quite... little. Program files alone take something like 320 GB for me. Then still music, documents, pictures and video editing stuff to add to that. Getting in about 15 to 20 GB a month, most of which I do not delete. So yeah, I wouldn't be able to survive on that 1TB disc. BTW, I'd take a Samsung F1 instead of the WD one. They're faster (but a bit less reliable though..) Remember of what? I haven't been active for over a year now. Read my last post, THOROUGHLY. Everybody on here and Tom's Hardware was constantly trying to convince me to get the i7, but I constantly refused. But at last, they swayed me. And the Nehalem's are excellent overclockers too.

    My New PC

Lol, I think the Antec 900 is beautiful! Also, if you'll remember, I was the one on here and Tom's Hardware ranting about how no matter what anybody said, I was going to go with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550. But hey, eventually they convinced me. Also, an lol to you Jace, because if you had read my post more carefully, you would see that I did in fact select a GTX 275 and an additional WD 1TB HDD. And Jace, I'm suprised you didn't say anything about 3 optical drives plus the external I have now..... Also, Right now, I'm surviving on 63 GB. When I get my new PC, a 30GB folder will be manually transferred to my 1GB (Its all Movies and music, etc.), and Vista (20GB) and everything else (Totals ~25GB) will be transferred to my 60GB SSD, which will serve as my main drive. I'm too lazy to reinstall everything, (plus some can't) so all my apps will go on the Vertex, and as I get more programs etc., I'll put em on the WD until eventually just about everything will be on the WD except the OS. This is because my transfer software can only transfer over to one HDD as far as my knowledge tells me. But if I'm wrong, EVERYTHING other than Vista will be on the 1TB. ALso, the only reason I went with a 1TB was because of the great deal, superb speed, and I need room for all the TV I plan to record. So yeah. EDIT: Oh, Sorry Jace, I just realized that in my first post I accidentally wrote 260, although the model number was that of a 275. Whatever, I meant 275. And guys, there were a few changes from my first to second build post, so read the second!!!! ANOTHER EDIT: I've corrected the first one.

    My New PC

Guys, I just contacted Newegg about my monitor. Good News: It took them 15 minutes to respond to my e-mail on a SUNDAY EVENING. Also, the monitor will eventually be back in stock. Bad News: It'll probably be more than 2 weeks before it is back in stock. I can wait 2 or 3 weeks. However, they never said whether they anticipated the price going up or not.

Yeah, and what would you build? Besides, this was $2.1k. Anybody want to actually review my build? (Namely GTA Don )

    My New PC

How does this monitor look compared to my old choice which is sold out? They both are almost exactly the same, but the ASUS has a webcam and is bigger, and the LG has a much better contrast ratio, I tend to trust them more, and that monitor looks like better quality. They are both the exact same price. Should I get the ASUS or stick with my 14" CRT and wait for other monitors with better deals to come out? Basically, is the ASUS good quality, and will I see a big difference in contrast?

    My New PC

No, it was going on my Dad's credit card which has a plenty high limit, maybe they're just suspicious about 3 online orders in 1 night totaling up to almost $2k..... EDIT: I just tried again, and they declined it, again. And YES, I had all of the #'s right.

Fuck! I just went into my email and it says Newegg.com - Payment Declined. WTF???????
  17. _Ray

    My New PC

It basically is mine, just not in my room. My parents and brother almost never use it, and there are no parental blocks or anything, so I can do whatever I want whenever I want on the new PC. There is only 1 family account on the PC, and I pretty much do whatever I want, from changing the background to defragging and they never notice or care.

    My New PC

Lol, what?? No I can't, why? It'll have no HDD, and I'm gonna strip it of parts and maybe get $20-30 out of it. (Too hopeful, huh....?) Besides, you already got one that's better than mine. EDIT: 10:30, time to order! Post back here when I'm done with my $1,830 order! lolwtf. Me was joking lol! Anyway good to hear you've got a new Gaming Rig! You are using it for gaming right? Ha, you really think that my parents (who are not rich, but not poor either, mind you) would buy me a 2,000 computer just for me? It's going to be a family PC, but my brother/ dad don't use it much and my Mom just got her first laptop, so I'll be the main user. In a few months I may get GTAIV and FSX, but for now, it's for general use. Firefox, THunderbird, Google Earth, Video Encoding, LOTS of background programs, Blu-Ray movies, recording TV, etc., usually all at one time! And sadly, right now, I'm going to still be stuck on my old 1280x1024 14" CRT. P.S>, I just ordered the PC. And I caught it on camera for the great moment! Exactly what I got from Newegg: Antec 900 Cooler Master TLF-S12-EB 120mm Case Fan Rosewill 8" IDE 4pin Power Splitter Nippon Labs 3ft DVI-D M/M Cable Nippon Labs 6ft USB M/M A/B Cable (FREE!!!!!!!!) Plus I still have to get my monitor. So this ended up being $1,820, without MIRs. Unfortunatly, the total cost of this PC will be around $2,100, assuming I can get my monitor at $220.

    My New PC

You guys remember my motherboard/ new PC topic from the end of January? Yeah, well, I never ended up getting that as soon as I thought I would. But, I'm ordering tonight, and if you see what my current PC is in the 'Worst PC' topic, you'll see just how much of an improvement this will be. By the way, this PC has changed in pretty much every aspect since I last told you guys about it. My Budget was $2k. I'm paying $82 for Transfer Software, $40+ for a media reader and some other stuff, plus over $1,900 for the PC. So, this does put me a little over budget at roughly $2,080, but it's OK. If you guys have any last second suggestions or opinions, post them here! Anyway, here's my build. (Sorry, I'm too lazy to post links, but this is all coming from Newegg. Samsung 22x SATA DVD Burner with LightScribe Samsung 22x SATA DVD Burner with LightScribe Antec Nine Hundred Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 32MB Cache HDD (Data Storage/ Apps) OCZ Vertex 60GB OCZSSD2-1VTX60G SSD (OS Only, with a few apps) ICY DOCK MB882SP 2.5 to 3.5" SSD Converter ASUS My-Cinema PHC3-100/NAQ/FM/AV/RC TV Tuner Card EVGA 896-P3-1170-AR NVIDIA GTX 275 Corsair CMPSU-750TX 750W Power Supply OCZ Freeze Thermal Compound OCZ Platinum 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1600 Triple Channel SDRAM Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Motherboard Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz (OC to 2.93 GHz) Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit Cooler Master Neon LED TLF-S12-EB 120mm LED Case Fan XIGMATEK Dark Knight S1283V 120mm CPU Cooler Thermaltake A2427 HDD Blue LED Cooler (Only because this was $6, has GREAT reviews, and a Blue LED) LG Black Blu-Ray ROM SATA DVD Burner LG W2353V-PF 23" 1920x1080 Widescreen LCD Monitor; 50,000:1 Contrast Ratio And that's it. There's a few other things I'm getting, but they don't need reviewing. (Speakers, Keyboard, Mouse, Bluetooth Adapter, etc.) P.S., It's even changed a ton just in the past few days. Earlier this week it was: NEW_PC_BUILD.pdf Another P.S., can somebody estimate how long these will be gone?? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16824005125 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827136153
  24. Yeah, I'm getting a new PC in a week with a TV Tuner, so that's what I'll do. And really? I know what Composite is. And my tuner technically has Analog Audio and S-Video in, but it has a Composite Video to S-Video adapter.
  25. I was recording a VHS onto a DVD for backup with my DVD player. I was using a DVD+R disc, and the video plays fine on my player. However, it will NOT play in any other normal DVD player or my PC. When I put it in my PC, my DVD-RAM Drive (F:) suddenly says CD Drive (F:) and when I click on it, it says 'Incorrect Function'. I'm pretty sure that it has to do with the fact that my DVD Player apparently records in DVD+VR format. Wikipedia says it shoul dbe able to play in normal DVD players, but it won't. How do I get this to play in a normal DVD player, and if possible/ more importantly, how do I get it to play on my PC so that I can rip it to my HDD? Thanks, Raybob P.S., This is an EXTRAORDINARILY IMPORTANT video, so any and all information would be appreciated.
