  1. Looks pretty sweet, Is that the new scout bat?

No, I actually prefer the old one most of the time. I play 2fort a lot so double jumping is useful with the bridge in the middle. However on maps without a lot of vertical space, the new bat is a lot nicer. But I think his taunt (which I recorded for the sig) is better with the old bat.

Looks good but who is that ? Also just adding a plain blurred bakcground to all of your previous sigs and also this one doesn't look nice, you are not at all making new ideas !

Try a bit brushing with some abstract brushes. Use of pen tool on the bat............etc,etc.

Pen tool on that bat? Wat?

The blurred background's purpose is to indicate the class "popping out of" the background...that they are in the scene but it is behind them. Also this sig has a transparent pattern overlay on the background which the older ones don't.

Obviously if you have Intershit Explorer 6 this won't look right.

Whaddya think? Of course the scout layer has motion blur applied. The background images are given a gaussian blur, faded into eachother with a reveal all mask, and overlaid with a pattern. Also they have minor content-aware scaling applied to make them fit just right in the borders.

The word bonk is a smart object which is distorted, warped, rotated, and has a low opacity.

My name has several effects, namely a master "soft light" blending mode to make it partially transparent and a stroke/satin/gradient overlay/outer glow.

The text below my name is un-anti-aliased and stroked 1px. The font is "Visitor," the same font used for making userbars.

  3. The latest known circulating build is 7048.

Something interesting I found is that starting with this build, Microsoft is going to allow you to completely remove Internet Explorer from the operating system.

  4. Spam by 3 mods. Llama, Spaz, and Chris82.

It's not spam, it would have been spam if I replied with one word or something completely unrelated to the topic. If you're allowed to make stupid troll comments to us, we can do the same to you. If you wanna be a topic Nazi, fine, but don't be a hypocrite about it.

Also in my $1k build, swap the 4850X2 for a 4850 and it's around $800. Change the PSU to, say, a 550w or 600w one and you have enough money for an OS license.

  5. 3870OC isn't a low end GFX card, I have it because it was relatively new when I bought it. In fact I essentially have that EXACT card (same manufacturer, just a different hsf on it). I can run GTAIV on medium-high settings playable at 1680x1050 with 25-40 fps, you'll have no problem with HL2 lol

  6. And Chris, that build added up to over $1,200.

Please, look at the prices before you post.

Read the comments I put in before you post.

    EDIT:

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz $190

    GPU: GIGABYTE GV-N98TOC-1GH GeForce 9800 GT 1GB $155

Why would you get a dual-core processor?

You want a quad-core, and it should either be a Core2Quad, Phenom/II, or Corei7. IMO Corei7 isn't worth it right now because it requires a very expensive motherboard and REQUIRES DDR3 RAM (REALLY expensive). Oh and the new Phenom IIs about match them.

Phenom II is a very nice processor at a good price. Why don't you like AMD?

Also no on that video card, 9-series really isn't good. If you're going nVidia (why lol they suck) then the only cards worth it are the GTX 280 or above. Otherwise, ATi 4850/4870 is what you need.

And one more thing, you need an operating system. Windows Vista x64. (inb4 someone talks shit about Vista)

  7. AMD Phenom II 940 (Cheap quad-core, overclocks like a champ)

    Motherboard

4850X2 (Can add another one in the future to increase performance)

    Corsair 4GB of RAM

150GB 10k RPM hard drive (REALLY fast HD, you put Windows + your games etc...here...this might put you over 1k so try to find the ~75GB model)

500GB 7200RPM hard drive (Slower but bigger, use this for storage of movies, music, etc...stuff that doesn't need really fast access time)

    CPU Cooler

    Sound card

    Power supply

    Case

Media drive (This will probably put you over 1k but I like it because it reads and writes to every media format known to man including Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. Otherwise any SATA or IDE media drives should work. Recycle floppy drive from your old PC if needed)

Also that CPU fan should include thermal grease but in any case I recommend Arctic Silver, it's the best grease you can get and a $2 tube will last you like 10 builds or so.

  8. Hm, I used to have a Dell Dimension back in 2002, it had

    1.8GHz Celeron

    256mb RAM

    Integrated Graphics

and before that I was using a Gateway Astro (all-in-one PC but HUEG because it was a CRT not an LCD)

    350060020.jpg

    400mhz Celeron

    64mb of RAM

    Integrated Graphics

imagine how fun it was installing XP on THAT

  9. I wasn't trying to make anyone mad, I know my PC is pretty good but there are better ones here.

Also it's 100% copied from my profile.

This IS about WORST PC, though, and the first post was worse than your PC.

So? I knew people would post with better PCs than mine so I contributed to the topic. Sorry.

  10. Try removing RAM sticks one at a time because bad RAM can cause that to happen. Also it could be a dead motherboard or processor. A dead motherboard is possible because if it's dead it will basically do whatever it wants...some things might work, others wont...also if the processor is dead, it won't display anything obviously.

  11. Well, that's what I was sort of aiming for, but fucking ObjectDock is just annoying.

    desktop22409.jpg

ObjectDock blows, use RocketDock, it's awesome. Pic related, I prefer no background but whatever you want. It also has hundreds of plugins and is compatible with ObjectDock's plugins and themes.

  12. PC requirements? Similar to if not slightly higher than GTA IV because it will probably use the same engine. In my opinion the next full GTA (for consoles/computers) will be set in a redesigned Vice City, and the one after that will be in a redesigned San Andreas...I would REALLY like to see a game of San Andreas' scope in GTAIV's engine.

By then they will probably have to put the game on a 20GB USB hard drive for Xbox 360 players.

  13. You probably can't, the only conceivable (and legal) way would be to transfer all the files from the UMD to your hard drive and convert the audio files to .MP3 or whatever you use, assuming of course they are in a format for which a converter is available.

Of course, transferring the files from a UMD to your computer isn't possible through USB or Wi-Fi that I'm aware of.

    • Gigabyte S-Series (GA-m57SLI-S4) nVidia 570 AM2 Gaming Motherboard (Hell of a mobo')
    • AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ @ 2.6GHz (Not the newest processor out there but has been around the block a few times and at least knows how to turn tricks)
    • 4GB Corsair XMS DDR2 PC6400 RAM (When you're rolling a 64-bit OS you need a lot of RAM to be genetically different, baby)
    • ATi Radeon 3870OC PCI-Express (One of the best graphics cards available at time of purchase, still performs well today, suck it envidya)
    • WD 250GB SATA 3GB/Sec 7200RPM HD (Seagate blows)
    • WD 640GB SATA 3GB/Sec 7200RPM HD (Seagate still slows, as does Maxtor, but I needed moar storage for my...files)
    • Logitech MX518 8-Button Optical mouse (This is the best mouse that has ever been made or ever will be made, hands down)
    • Logitech G11 USB Keyboard (Wonderful keyboard which helps when playing the vidya and work--Macros are wonderful!)
    • Plantronics GameComPro Surround Sound Headset (If you can't hear people sneaking up on you, what is the point of headphones? Deep bass, wonderful response on all levels, very comfortable...awesome headset)
    • Rosewill ATX~500w Power Supply (Meh, it's a PSU, what can I say? It powers my PC fine and has done so for the past 2 years)
    • Xion ATX mid tower black case with side window and LED lit front panels. (Looks cool and I like the side-window but holy shit my next case will be...toned down for sure...those LEDs keep me up at night)
    • HP DVD-RW/DVD ROM Combo drive (Superdrive to the Macfags, it burns DVDs/CDs and reads them, what more can I say?)
    • Acer 22'' X-Series 5ms LCD Monitor (DVI/VGA, 2500:1 CR, 1680x1050, holy shit it's an awesome monitor, HUEG and only $150, GO GET ONE!)
