aL82
Hi all! I'm new here. just registered to upload my acu army texture. But first i need help: I was trying to replace everithing in the game with mods. First installed 'things to do in san andreas beta5' Then 'SRT3_Final_Installation' that replaces almost all of the textures by high quality ones. Then some more textures and weapons. and finally i was adding new bikes... and the game started draw textures slower and slower, tried changing wiew distance to 4000, and it works sometimes but at many times textures arround me just disapear. The strange thing is that the game runs smooth, but this happens and it's really annoying now! I am going to try to start over without SRT3, but that's really bad since it's soo cool. Anyone knows what can be causing this problem? or a way to fix it? The game is version1.

Do you have a backup copy of SA? Or is your system is capable of rendering high-res stuff?
aL82
Yes yes. I backup everything and install things correctly. The game runs fast, never gave me problems with fps. and my computer is not the very best but it can handle this. The problem is just that the world dissapears or draws models of lower lod. I can be looking in one direction and when i turn with the mouse the houses on my back look like crap for a long while.

If you've been modding the gta3.img file a lot, chances are that it could be VERY fragmented! You might try defragging the drive that file's sitting on and see if that helps. You won't have anything to lose and will at least eliminate that as the source of the problem and clean up the drive at the same time.
aL82
Will try that. But is it possible that it's related to some vehicle model? maybe it has problems or maybe i'm using much stuff with high polys? I ask because i don't know anything of 3D modeling. Anyway thanks all for helping. Will report later. EDIT: Defragging didn't help. Edited February 29, 2008 by aL82
JustADummy
C'mon, guys, think of polygons and memory! Your problem is that you have soooo much car mods installed that the car polys eat memory and the game doesn't load the textures properly. Next time don't install so much mods. aL82
That is intresting. So i can still replace everything and would play nice on a more powerfull pc? I don't have a problem in waiting a few more years to change my pc. for now i'll make the whole modification to install in diferent parts, that way i think that it can be played with diferent combinations. Thanks for all the help!
JustADummy
Yes. If you have a more powerful PC, you can even install a Total Conversion that modifies all the cars!
