azn
For all the EEE fans out there in Australia, Asus has just announced that their new Asus EEE will ship to selected stores around next week. Although a specific date has not been given yet, hands on reviews have hinted a release in Australia next week. One can be seen here: http://techblog.dallasnews.com/archives/20...-the-house.html And on Asus' website: http://eeepc.asus.com/global/news04152008.htm Although the previous EEE only came pre-installed with Linux as the OS, this time around there will be 2 options; XP with the sacrafice of a 12GB SSD, or a Linux with 20GB SSD. This is because Asus wanted to keep the prices the same, although it is quite peculiar that the Linux version will cost $649AU and the XP version will cost $599AU. azn
Yes, but not in Australia to my knowledge. We only got the 701 4G Surf release which costed $500. The 900's Celeron processor will be running at full clocked speed at 900MHZ rather then the underclocked Celeron running at 630MHZ. Although like many others I'll be installing XP on the Linux version
azn
Sorry for the bump, but pictures of a new Eee have surfaced on a French website. They show what appears to be the Asus Eee 901. The only known difference or improvement right now is the use of Intel's Atom processor, which offers 1.6GHZ of power. Also, Asus seem to have dropped the ASUS logo on the actual computer and instead put Eee PC on the lid. The edges have also been smoothed and have a very nice shiny finish to it. Also, the mouse pad has been replaced. Th keyboard and screen however, seem to be the same. http://www.blogeee.net/2008/05/14/exclu-eeepc-901/ Note: This is a French website, so you'll need a webpage translator to read it.
