  1. NES i think. we had (still have) that with 2 controllers, the gun, super mario bros / duck hunt in one cartridge and some golf game "Golf" was the other cartridge.

    then sega mega drive, ps1, ps2, ps3.

i find it funny that my parents didnt buy any of those consoles, except technically the PS2. but i sort of tricked my mum into getting that when she was getting a new phone (buy this phone on xx plan and get free ps2). when we got to the counter "here's your free ps2" my mums like "wot?"

sega mega drive would be the first one i remember playing. had some awesome games on that, the sonic ones of course, golden axe, streets of rage, super hang-on (motorbike racing), i remember i had a "6 in 1" thing too. i played desert strike at my cousins. pretty much all those games now i got on emulator :)

  2. According to this it's a savegame problem.

But this says (from Zmodeler forum)

Fatal Error SMPA60 was confirmed to appear on models with missing objects. You need to keep the same "extra_*" objects and passanger seat dummies as in original vehicle. At least a complete replace of schafter model does not cause SMPA60 error when missing "extras" were added.

Mesh deformation was updated. Exported models should have the same level of visual damage as original models. You should re-export your models to get them updated.

Could be either, my guess is a problem with the vehicle mod. Restore your backups or reinstall if you didn't make a backup.

  3. according to this your PC came with a Intel GMA950. Not sure if this will run the game or not, but it's a memory issue you're getting.

Go into the BIOS settings and you can change the setting for video memory.

Alternatively (probably better option) you can upgrade to a dedicated video card. On that page it says you have a PCI-E slot, pretty much anything nowadays would be able to max out Vice City (im running it maxed out on a 7300 go). For $55 you could pick yourself up a nVidia 9500GT or a ATi 4650

Ok just noticed you wrote that you can play San Andreas but not Vice City. Try reinstalling Vice City & update your video drivers. Other than that I'm not sure.

  5. So I have being playing a lot of SA recently, on my windows seven laptop.

and when I whent on it recently, the hdmi cable to my toshiba television said that it was an "unsupported mode"

Now, I hadn't made any changes to its resolution, or even modded it in general, for a few weeks, and it had been working fine up until now.

what the hell? how do I fix this? I have uninstalled, deleted my gta san andreas folder, then RE-Installed, and it still hasn't been working... when Trying to start up the game, my comp will enter "windows 7 basic mode" the fan will kick in and the screen will flash black, after that... nothing.

Basically that message is coming up on your TV because you're running an unsupported resolution. If you can, set your resolution to 1280x720 or 1920x1080, otherwise you can connect your laptop to your TV via VGA cable.

  6. since it was in the general gaming forum I would presume you would be smart enough to assume its a 360 cause if it was a pc drive I would of put it in the pc subforum

    sorry ben

  7. LMAO Nice one, fair enough. :P

The lighting is actually turned back on with the downloadable config, the old one turned off too many things.

    Fixed the lighting

    Fixed the shadows

    Lowered the draw distance

alot of tweaking is required for gta IV to even get the smallest increase in performance.

BTW do you know of a config for GTA IV that improves preformance besides this one?

lol no idea. i dont have GTA4 on PC, I have it on PS3. I just hear you would need a really high spec one to run it on high settings.

  8. hmm thats weird.

    on PC or XBOX ?

the mechanism could be worn (its weird i know) but seeing as you have a intermittent problem (it works after a few tries) rather than not working at all, it likely isnt a problem with power to the drive.

you could always open your PC case and check the power cables are still intact, try unplug/plug it back in and see if that helps.

if its a IDE drive the power cable will look like this

if its SATA it will look like this
