I get emails everyday from random members saying they see that page. it's because there's so many IP's we now have banned and they're gradually getting re-used by people who are on the same ISP. I'll look into removing some.

You may have seen an earlier post by the staff here about having Blogs on the forum. The response to this was rather mixed and it is quite likely we won't bother getting them. So now I'm going back to one of my original ideas. The idea is to make use of IPG (Invision Power Gallery). The system would allow for integrated galleries for use by members, now these could be used to upload your screenshots of GTA games and maybe photos of yourself and friends, then share them with the rest of us. I would also integrate them (possibly) with the main website so for example you could give people a URL such as thegtaplace.com/galleries/spaz_the_great and you would see all Spaz's pictures. I think it would be especially nice when GTA4 is out because we'll have hundreds of people wanting to share their screens, and maybe even now with the other games still being quite popular. Please vote honestly and also post your thoughts. As a reference the full list of features can be found here.

too hard to use? It's virtually the same, and any hacks are installed just by uploading one file in the admin panel, and thats it done, with IPB theres always tons of files to edit IMO they're basically the same for the end user, but vB always seems to have a more professional edge. I'm not a fanboy of either, but I must say they are the only forum softwares I use, I won't use anything free

Just a note, GERARD decided to do a post recount because he wasn't satisfied that the number we all had was correct. Now taking into account that posts in this (fun and games forum) don't count towards total post count, and havent done for about a year now (it used to before). Some of our post counts have gone down quite significantly. And everyone's gonna be really annoyed but as I said it wasn't me so I'm safe from all the backlash But I have to reach 3000 posts again now

The ranks are based on the Criminal rankings from Vice City, almost all of them are used. Here is a screenshot directly from the admin panel which is easier on the eyes than Gerard's textual representation above.

Yeah it's been bugging out since I installed the "Members who visited today" hack. This is where I wish we used vBulletin, but oh well, it's not a major problem. I can do a member recount from the admin panel to fix it, but can't really be bothered right now.

I think the characters page for every game actually needs to be revamped, I'm not suggesting we copy, but if you head over to gta-sanandreas.com and look at their characters page, thats the sort of detail that would be ideal, maybe just a couple lines description for all the main ones anyway. Accompanying screenshots would be very helpful but not necessary. Thanks people, keep it coming, soon this place will be the ultimate resource for GTA. I'll actually be putting all the mods and admins on the staff page if they aren't already, and people who have done content WILL be credited. It was brought to my attention today that a petition has been made for Rockstar Games to make both GTA1 and GTA2 open source. For those of you not familiar with programming terminology, this means that the source code (basically the code that makes the game work) will be made viewable to anyone who wants it. This would be invaluable to modders and programmers alike, who would be able to make modifications to ultimately improve the playabilty of the games much more easily than before. Topic starter drwbns sums it up well. Lol, Chris yours was pretty funny, and JD, it's most likely just random. I would assume it has 3 columns, one for all the first names, one for middle inital, and one for all the surnames, and it just picks a random name from each column and gives you what it got.
