Well I just tried it lags on my netbook as well as my desktop which has 2.5gb of ram. So its the problem of avg I think. Also I am talking about real time scanning, its perfect when two or three files are there in a folder but takes a lot of time to scan 20-25 files. Kaspersky, etc. don't have this problem even on my netbook so its not the netbook.
Anyways anybody else ever got this problem ?
I am using my computer right now. The thing I am talking about is a netbook I have. If an AV can't stay on 1gb of ram, then its totally pointless.
Also hackers can still approach you ? Even if you use firefox...there can still be attacks on you ? Sometimes downloading stuff from trusted sites too contain viruses..eg.. There was a havock over CNET for giving an infected Winrar installer.
Fishes fed is probably how many times you have drowned. Just if you want to confirm, check the stats first then go and jump into water and then see if it increases.
Well this problem doesn't occur with ESET,Kaspersky,Avira, etc.I can't be bothered to do a full computer scan daily.
So why with AVG ? BTW do you use AVG ? And do you have proactive/real time defense turned off ?
I have tried Kaspersky. The only problem with it - slowed down while playing resource intensive games like Fifa09,etc. I previous AV was ESET Smart security 4. It worked fine. AVG also doesn't slow down while playing games but...
...Still I like AVG More for some reason. But looks like I will have to go back to ESET. So anybody else ?
EDIT : At Llama - You mean just opening a folder with 15-20 small 2mb files slows down ? Eset did not do the same though. And I am talking about real time scanning. So that means just digging into the computer is slow. It doesn't slow down on gaming as you said.
Don't know why ?
I recently installed AVG. I have 1gb of ram on xp. Never had any problems without installing AVG. The problem is its real time scanning. When I play games its fine,no problems. The problem occurs when open folders with large number of files. It takes a long time to scan them, say a good 30-40 seconds. So thats the problem !
Please help..
Do any one of you experience this ? ):
