Dunno if that will help.. I noticed mine doesnt have it, wonder if thats what caused my RGSCL not to launch but I seemt to have fixt that on a manual start basis..

Yw, do you have any like anti-SecuRom apps on your pc ? It seems some software like performance enhancers etc can have a negative affect, if you use dvd copy software, this could be causing a conflict w/ the security feature(s) of the game.. I know I've come across articles relating to SR errors, they related well some to crax, others activation, have you tried emailing their tech support about the securom issue ? There is a link on that page I gave you, about securom errors, basically is about activation, which inturn provides a link to support.. Did you tried to load the game being disconnected from the Rockstar Game Social Club ? That black screen appears first whilst the game downloads some crappy web page, maybe that'll help you. ye i tried that same thing. atm im reinstalling the game.. Yea, I wasnt happy about the problems but I've spent hours and days trying to find solutions and I can say that, SO FAR, after ALL I've been through.... I've not been too happy w/ my experience for sure! I plunkt down cash early Nov & traded in some games for a credit towards it.. I'm kinda sittin here dumbfounded.. I'm not really sure what to say.. I started out w/ gettin the game last week when it was released, & first load problems and only now 4 days after getting it, does it look like I MAY be able to play it ?? I was pretty tickt about some things .. I've spent much more time reporting problems, searching for answers across the net & asking for help that I dont get... I had thought I dint have enough system RAM, figuring I may never get it to play w/ out buying new larger capacity modules ...... I had found some articles of help, one on RS's site about the graphics tuner as maybe the reason for missing textures, I did have one but had uninstalled it b4 reverting, I guess ?? I've since restored my pc to a date predating the tuner ... I've uninstalled, reinstalled drivers again and again, updating.. finding now some progs I can't uninstall .. I then reinstalled GTA IV, had to TRY to activate it manually since it could not be revoked since it now said "the application is not activated...", well I went through the manual activation successfully only to have it give me a "RGSCLauncher stopped working, search online for a solution" when I tried to play... So, I thought maybe a reinstall will fix it, uninstall, reinstall, same problem... Nothing worx.. So, I've been reading for hours on diff sites, someone mentioned something about running GTA IV "-windowed" from a shortcut of GTALauncher on the desktop... THis did not work for me, RGSL reported error again .. Well, as odd as it sounds.. I decided to make a shortcut for RGSCL and decided heck I'll "-windowed" it.. I dbl click, it opens & runs, I skip login, sign in to WGLive, install update, restart, I get into the game!!!!!! ATLEAST FOR NOW .... I can now see everything like it was the first time I installt the game 4 days ago... Well some protections mechanisms totally suck as you say even, ppl still end up breaking past them, it ends up hurting ppl that plunks down the cash for the product, for which some want to make 1 copy in the event the original is damaged which I understand, cuz this stuff aint cheap. I understand "protections" have their place but sometimes it sure makes things a heck of alot harder on ppl who jus want to do something practical for something they paid for... Heck, I loved the fact you could use a 3D modeler, create say a Mercedes or custom Hummer and put it in the game in VC or SA but then ppl will say, well you're "hacking" the game and its wrong.. First other folks are making programs that know how to read/interpret & insert files, whatever, I surely dont want to do harm, I just liked being able to have cool cars in the games, I even learned how to make a skin from a template, a guy sent it me, so I jus open my photo editor and make some colors/designs on it, stick it in the game & voila, I got a car w/ a custom paint job/graphics, I dont see my intention as "trying to hurt companies", just enhancing my enjoyment of the game.. Its one reason I like games like Half life series, they allow you to use the developer console to enhance your gameplay as well as install cool mods that alot of talented ppl take alot of time & effort to develop for free for the enjoyment of the game, I dont think that fact has hurt the sale of the game series, if nothing else, its added incentive to purchase/play it.. ANyway, it loox like the problem I was having is somethin of my own doing :\ So now of the posts I've made, I'm trying to post in an update so incase other ppl read, they'll know what happened and how to fix, hopefully before its too late, as it may be for me.... ok no problem , I just hope we'll be able to run it Well Wiseman, I wish I could say but my game seems corrupt or somethin .. I'm kinda spreadin the word in hopes someone can help .. Cuz so far no word back YET from T2 support.. My specs Vista Prem D-core 2.6GHz Nvid 9600GT 512MB 2GB Ram - this is the only thing my system doesnt measure up to ATLEAST in the recommended settings, it says 2.5GB, so I'm missin .5GB but I'm not sure this is the cause.. I got "ok" gp on first load, but stuff still lookt a lil anhhh so I tried to up the settings a lil in the game but then I had no road, other stuff missin. I saved, came back later, loaded up, couldnt see NIKO in the safehouse, no walls, jus windows, light bulbs, no roads, only head/tail lights on cars... I updated drivers, changed ingame settings, gp card settings, monitor settings, diff monitor, uninstallt, reinstallt game, NO CHANGE... I jus dont get it... I can move the mouse (camera) around a lil and onscreen it gets glitchy/twitchy but I can see parts of the car and road then, :: shrugs :: If its just that my sys needs more memory, I can see about buying it, otherwise don wanna spend $$ & it not fix the problem, all other games/progs (not as intense as GTA IV ofcourse) run perfect... Otherwise, its kinda pisst me off, having plunkt down my hard earned $$ & traded in some games for credit to get this ...

Oh now don't be like that! Don't get me wrong... I'm still FURIOUS (like many others) about the horrible install, the STUPID club shit, the HUGELY annoying Live! shit, the total lack of cohearant answers from Rockstar about all game issues, the undeniable fact that this game really wasn't ready for release to the PC this month and have sold out to christmas pressure... BUT... I now that I've got it working (and still looking better than the xBox 30 version I might add) the story is once again a total masterpeice... As i said before, i just can't weit for some decent updates to make it the game it is really capable ofbeing... At the moment, I give it 7.5/10... But there's still potential to make it 9.5/10... (I can never give it 10 due to the reasons listed above!) So are you sayin that your issue was because of your graphics card ? What did you have ? My friggin game is corrupt or has become corrupt or something, its got BAD problems, buildings arent there, you jus see windows, cars head/tail lights can be seen, no road, etc... I tried everything I know to fix it but.. See its like it started out somewhat ok in first load but lookt a lil rough, so I tried to tweak the gp settings in the ingame menu but then I come back & there is no road, other stuff is missing, I managed to save the game, then when I loaded up later on, all I could see were windows, light bulbs in the safehouse, NIKO was not visible.. I cannot find what has caused this, cuz changing ingame gp settings does not help, changing card settings, updated drivers, uninstall, reinstall the game does not help, its fkt up .. I mean I can oddly enough, move the camera around and sometimes it blips and I can see some of the road and car & stuff but its glitchy, twitchy.. Tried diff monitor settings and monitor too. Other games not intense as this one, run perfect so ... I havent gotten a reply from T2 support yet, sent them files.. You might need to post more info glock for soma the more savvy folks here to help out. I'm havin BAD problems too, its like an unfinished 3D project, where buildings are missing, you jus see windows or lightbulbs, no road, tail/headlights is all you see on cars, its BAD .. Dunno why, not gotten any help yet from anyone, T2 support STILL hasnt gotten back to me after the files & info I sent but I'm SURE their busy w/ ALOT of problems it seems.. Derekod what kinds of problems are you actually having, mine are really bad & I can't figure out why, I made a post back up the stack w/ links to what is happening in my game... Basically my system is similar to yours (5000+ , Nvid 9600 GT 512MB, Vista Prem, 2GB RAM) but WHY on earth I'm having the problems I am, is unknown to me. I've tried a diff monitor, adjusting gp card settings, ingame gp settings, nothing is fixing it, drivers updated etc, other games (granted not as intensive) run fine... Wow Ruud, I'm sorry you had such negative experiences. I've sent email and attachments to T2, not heard back yet .. I was getting some kind of picture at first but it was a lil sketchy, so I tried changing settings & it has been way messt up since.. I've been finding alotta ppl have 4GB mem so maybe it is system mem, I'm hoping to hear back from T2.. I've also been abit tickt by the fact of having to do all that busy work too, registrations, sign into WLive JUST to save, that dogon social club sign in never fails to pop up and reports messages in-game, that is awful, I understand for online play but not if we jus want to play offline we can't even save w/ out sign-in.. INteresting I never seen any of those as requirements mentioned b4 the game was released, it was about graphics, the editor etc.. I wish they'd gave us the full story on that sign-in business, if they did someplace, I simply never saw it in all the reviews posted by popular mags/sites. It is good idea to consider connection type, DSL, Cable, Sattelite.. Sattelite prone atleast to weather interferences, Cable is prone to bogging when neighboring traffic increases, DSL is a dedicated circuit that isnt likely to bottleneck and unless the storm hits the phone lines themselves, isnt susceptible to weather intereference, ofcourse you can get higher speeds w/ the other types of internet connections. I've not played MP much so I dont know how it acts w/ xxxxx # of players.. As for the one shot kill it certainly sounds like a sniper, thats the only thing I know of in-game that kills w/ one "shot" other than an RPG, which yea hidin behind the car's gas tank or behind the newspaper dispenser wont protect from that =oP

Blix how much system memory does yours have ? I have Vista Premium (w/ a diff video card Nvid 9600 GT 512MB)(one of the recommended game specs is for Nvid 8600 so my card is a lil better than that) but I'm gettin BAD graphical problems, I've contacted T2 support.. Something jus isnt right but I wondered if its the system memory, the game label on my box says 2.5GB but I only have 2GB. These images dont seem to be affected now by changing any settings in graphics.. At first when I booted the game I could see buildings and such, the car looked like it wasnt on the road tho really, and there were some sketchy looking things, so I tried to change some settings and what you see in the first pic is what happened.. Then, I tried and tried to change things but to no avail, so I saved and got what you see was Niko in his safehouse.. I restarted the game and you know when you see them in the car at the dock, in this case, I saw the taillights and everything looked like floating water and bits of objects.. I could drive but naturally I couldnt see what I was going to hit.. Somethin just aint right .. It would seem this was a fault w/ graphics card as its responsible for the "display", however my card runs all my other progs/games just fine. My graphics drivers are up to date & have Dx 10.. oops, I thought blix had Vista but ok it was Chris's I saw the Vista, but Chris you have 4GB of mem... Maybe I do need ATLEAST that extra .5GB+ ..

game spec says 1.5gb for vista 1gb for xp The recommended settings for system RAM are 2GB for XP and 2.5GB Vista, its on my game label. I never go w/ "minimum reqs" as are listed for some products because they usually offer the poorest performance. I've contacted T2 w/ my issue to see if we can determine the cause of the problem.

Soma these have proly been mentioned but: - The ability to buy properties instead of being assigned just a few - GARAGES!!! the street parking isnt bad but its too easy for your vehicles to get rammed outta place/blown up or stolen. I've had vehicles missing, sometimes its cops taking them, otherwise when I load up a new game sometimes a vehicle would be missing. - The ability to fly planes, comon, what good is the airport if all you can do is grab a baggage cart or plane mover. I really miss the fighter jet, & the Apache w/ rockets -lockon... The "annhialator" just aint hittin on much - To deploy parachute - The tank - Spawn more dogon vehicles, there are lots in-game but few to spawn - I'd also love to be able to destroy more of the environment other than mailboxes/trashbags/barrels etc, I do like the more realistic vehicle damage - Speed up time to recover from human/vehicle impacts - More work on melee - Ability to customize plyr face/body (besides limited ability in mltplyr) - *I really like story lines that follow diff paths pending plyr actions, more of that! - Also like covert, stealth where you take out cats who aint spectin you to, give some realism in this, dont let enemies 300' away see & shoot us w/ sniper precision when all he has is a pistol (THAT INCLUDES COPS!!!). Let us use a sniper rifle to see him before he sees us & take him out, likes its post to be. - Women, hmm, It might add interest to have some tough gals in the game on the baddies side, tryin to take you out, hmm, is she your faithful gf or is she workin for the big boss maybe slips somethin into your drink or spends the night w/ you to steal something of interest, does she end up betraying the boss based on decision(s) you make, does she turn out to be the big boss herself! - More weapons, I miss the Katana, maybe in the future we could get a weapon editor, maybe advanced for the pc to make our own weapons..

I have only 2 GB RAM but that is really not enough, I know the game spec says 2.5 GB for Vista .. I noticed the game was acting weird, sometimes the road was missing or buildings, its like changing the graphics settings sometimes would or wouldnt affect that.. I'm thinking its the lack of system RAM. As I noticed it peaking at 1.95 !! So far newegg is the place I've found least expensive PC2 6400 for 4GB (2x2GB). Have any of you guys had any experiences, w/ Mushkin EM brand ? I've read some reviews saying it was good but seems less likely to be good for gaming/ OC..
