Some biz folks have reported that some individuals, not "hardcore pirates" have gotten their hands on games illegally and actually purchased a copy later &/or liked the game they played so much, that they became interested in the series & purchased... THose are words of some bizness folks.. Again, I dont care about pirating, reselling games whatever, I'm not out to "hurt" biz or ppl, one thing I do enjoy & I'm sorry to say if it involves "hacking" is the ability to enhance my gameplay, increase replay value by being able to do things like, increase the speed of certain vehicles, slow the cops down so when they give chase, specially when you accum more stars they arent running at you about "160" while you're struggling to get up to "50" .. PPl that made custom skins for cars, I even made a few for my own game when I had SA ... to see a graphic or paint scheme you made on a car, its cool .. Adding in modern day or custom cars, its jus adds to the enjoyment .. Like I've said, in half life, they give you a developer console even, to adjust about any aspect of the game, install mods, its great, so have ppl stoppt buying their games ? NO, heck I bought each in the series.. Mehh, again, its gettin down to limiting your rights and enjoyment to the point that "big brother" will be in bed w/ you, dictating to you if its safe to fart, otherwise hmm "you've been fined one credit for adding to the pollution in earth's atmosphere" .. prolly have a machine in the room charging you for the oxygen content in the air that you're using... By then vid games will proly be eliminated, there will be so much "protection" on them that the developers will have cleverly locked themselves out of them ...

Man, & you are usin the steam version of the game ?? If not, what are you using then to mod ? I been at GTAF for awhile reading up on modding, trying some things they have over there but it seems ppl w/ discs are having limited to no luck w/ any of the "mod enablers" .. I was able to use one, get my game to load up w/ a handling.dat enhancement but I tabbed out for a sec cuz pix were disappearing, then it halted the game. I think its that damned securom .. I dont care about making copies of games, stealing, thats not me, I'd just like to do cool things like you have.. One guy as a test, even turned the vehicles headlight beams to green, just simple things like that.. We're not rewriting the whole friggin game and then tryin to resell it !! I think securom came str8 outta hell and we should send it back there "time to nuke-at sumbitch, boyyyys, republican space rangers, uh rangers-a space, uhhh, DAMMIT!!", lol .. Excuse the expletives, but those guys trip me out, lol ... IF and I state IF, the dlded game is no different, which I wouldnt think it would be, other than its delivery format...Normally the exe file will be in the Rockstargames default folder, you go to it, then there should be another folder w/in it that says "Grand Theft Auto IV", inside it should be your GTAIV launcher/exe files... If you dont know where your Rockstargames folder is, you can use your operating system's "search" function to find it.. Most times tho, its in "C:\ProgramFiles.."

That was cool Bobster! First to see smaller explosions but being sent flyin, it kind of made me think of Ben buja/Machinima vids w/him blowing up fuel tanks & such to send himself flyin, I love the "blooper" vids! However, for me when it comes to rockets/explosions BIGGER IS BETTER!! I really liked the copter explosion and the cop car exploding at 1:34, it looked like it sent him into orbit, lol Do you play w/ a controller or mouse Bobster ? I had a Ps3 contoller registered in my pc but no support for it in-game... I wonder if it will be supported in the patch .. I havent tried yet and I know you edited the gxt, I'm guessing there are some other files we can still edit w/ out special software ... I think Chris referenced familiar files for cars, weapons etc .. I need to make time to look ..

Something I'm not sure anyone has thought about, as so many of us have been having varying difficulties w/ the game and RS is promising to address them as well as future enhancements, how then will these patches affect the modding of the game ? Like if they release new cool content, then we MIGHT have to consider, do we want mods or do we want the new content, in the event they are incompatible... Another consideration, since we have to sign in to load/save our game (which who knows something may come along to fix that) they may, like Ps3, make it a requirement for signing in, like in this case, you will have to sign in then accept a patch before you can proceed, otherwise it logs you off .. Same thing w/ online play, wont let you on until you install the patch..

Yea, you must be then! I'm proly gonna wait it out abit, maybe try to help others & see what, if anything, changes when the patch is released ..

Could you post the hardware specs of your pc josh ? Like: Cpu type/speed RAM Graphics card This helps since so many issues ppl have been experiencing have been relating to them, mostly issues w/ graphics card drivers, some tuners etc ..

I agree, like you said, biz is biz .. otherwise this side of it, adds to our enjoyment, gaming on Ps2 when it came out, as it was superior to Psx, was a big deal, newer capabilites w/ the system, gamers & designers were talking alot about game lengths which lead to replayability, some games jus dint seem long enough, so something had to add to replay value to lengthen it, cuz games were so much more expensive and gamers dint feel like they got the best bang for their buck ... Like you say, w/ past GTA games, ppl loved the modding, I could not believe the amount of vehicles from bi/motorcycles to freight trucks, race cars, hummer limos and all from the classics to modern day and some concept vehicles.. Ppl also came up w/ diff player skins, custom weapons & skins... Ppl even began redoing billboards and whatnot, I couldnt keep up w/ it all ... O, well, unless there is some online check system to verify every file, not necessarily content but maybe file size like a sort of CRC, I wouldnt think it'd matter about that, I dont think anyone else could say anything either because, I imagine they wont see your car names, only you, I'm sure they will just see the default on their system.. I'm not sure how the online system works, if it really uses bit for bit, all of the information being transmitted from your machine... I also agree on the no-advantage mods! I mean I'm not really into online play either, maybe w/ some Friends or ppl that are good sportsman. That is, to play, play fair, have fun for goodness sake and not act like this is a real life kill or be killed, take it personal, "I can beat you up" kind of thing, ppl can be so childish... Part of the problem is, too many feel like they're invincible behind the internet, so they "act" bigger than they are .. They dont realize, there are real life consequences to threats... So is there a place we can see your progress, provide suggestions or help in some way ? Connor, we're already playing the game, many w/ recommended settings & it loox like most of us still need to upgrade our pc's ! =oP

I've not seen anything on "steering" w/ the mouse, moving the camera around yea, that bothers me too.. I'd like to get back to a controller, I have a Ps3 controller installed but ofcourse there isnt any support in the game, jus for MS's Xbox controller, who woulda known, heh ... I think RS said in an interview they are planning for controller support or multiple support in the patch I guess ? ...

Yep, they say thats one of the most common problems is outdated software be it drivers or other OS components either old or missing .. I've had lotsa problems w/ it, updating has helpt some of the things.. But its still a beast on resources, specially if you go w/ higher settings that still keep your resources in the green... I still get stuff fading out, I've even had to tab out of the game on diff occassions because it simply will not continue ... I dont know if thats a system ram issue or what .. Like the phone rang on the "loanshark" mission w/ Roman and I couldnt even answer it, hittin "Enter" did nothing, I tab out, come back in, I could ... its screwy ..

Some say the game is "resource hungry", w/ my system it acts like its starving... I wonder where the vouchers are to help us get to "future pc" status ?! Hmm, "future" is relative, "future" could be 1 nanosecond ahead of the current or 10 yrs from now, so I'd like them to be specific on the date/time of this "future" AND what are the specs for the "pc's" they are speaking of, heck the specs may be beyond technology thats available or atleast to the average consumer .. OR it could also be technology available now we jus dont know what it is or if we can afford it... They have released the game already so who is to say that when these "future pc's" appear, that we'll have or even be interested in playing it, by then there could be GTA XIIIII in which yea we may have to wait untill 2047 when more "future pc's" can take full advantage of its capabilities I'd give it 8/10. QD I sometimes feel like I could give it a 12, that is, a FOOT ^_~

I wondered about talk of modding, since basically its altering the game, or even hacking, isnt that post to be what all this "security fuss" is about ? I've been weary of even speaking about it, because its like, if you get anywhere near "backing up, modding" its like you're an evil pirating thief, breaking the law, violating UA... Mehh, I can say, I enjoyed VC & SA much more by being able to design my own custom skins like paint/graphics for cars, adjusting characteristics of cars like speed, weight etc, importing 3D models of real or custom cars ppl put so much effort into creating, it was great! I dont see why that would HAVE to be so frowned upon when no one is trying to "hurt" business by doin that. This could increase business by increasing popularity, granted some ppl will pirate no matter what but for the paying customers, its ANOTHER incentive, like the half life series of games having a developer console where you can adjust about any aspect of the game & you can install mods too, all to enhance your gaming experience. There was even a guy who made a garage editor for GTurismo 3 for Ps2 where you could switch chassis, engines other fitments, alter ALL the settings of each car, I had a Zonda RC w/ over 3400hp, it'd top out around 322mph, stuck to the road like it was on rails and stoppt almost b4 you hit the brakes.. I even had a RUF (Porsche) that I hit I think just over 800 mph on the test track, I even have a vid somewhere of it .. That program increased the popularity of that game exponentially, ppl went out and bought it for its coolness but many stated it was for the modding capability.. Sadly, the excitement dropped off for GT4 because they encrypted the data & so the programmer found it not worth the effort to decrypt, program somethin for free on his own.. I hated that.. not bought another GTurismo game since... At any rate, Kudos to Bobster

Oh, first time playin Crafty ? Aww man, dont spoil it for him !! I'll try not to as well ... You should decide who/what you choose... You can turn autosave on/off, so yea, if its on, it will save after each mission.. Just remember w/ autosave on, it saves on top of the previous save, so, if say by the 8th mission, you had a decision to make did so, then by the 10th mission had another one that was affected by the previous decision, your chance of reloading 8th mission is gone cuz the game already saved ontop of it... I jus normally turn it off, save manually in different slots, specially if I come to a mission that I'm given a decision to make ... In other words, I save first save in slot 1, then next mission, if there is no decision to make, I save ontop 1rst, but if by the 3rd mission, I'm given a decision, after choosing, I will save in slot 2, so if something happened, I can go back to slot 1 & reload my previous save ... Its part of the interest of the game Crafty, kinda figurin out what happens when ... I dont think there are many critical decision points, that is, that affect the path of the game, otherwise its like a decision of mercy over loyalty, so hmm, do I let him go by his promises of goodwill or take him out cuz the boss says so... OH & ONE MORE THING, I can't post statistical data BUT sometimes you will see lil blue icons that look like "figures of a person", you can go to these icons for sort of "mini-missions", check em out, IF you see em.. When I playt, I saw several OVER TIME, I've not noticed any type of pattern, I playt through the game several times, I saw only 4 or 5, but then another occassion, I seen proly 7 or so... been awhile since I playt... Thing is, there is a stat in the games accomplishments for these people ... it MAY be under MISC ... dunno.. I've not yet met up w/ all of the people, dunno if there is a trick to finding them all ..

Dint happen when I playt, made sure I wasnt gonna hear from her again, I got ridda the resident psychic, For real, look at Roman or others, take em for a ride and in whatever way you do it, if you kill them or they died, it states this in red letters!! Yet soon they'll be calling you up, maybe pisst off or not, & discuss gettin together for an activity ... Heck if shes "dead" and then calls you up for a date "to die for", then "take her out" & this time make it STICK!!

Those gloves I could live w/out, I guess they go along w/ his character tho ... I like black fingerless (combat-looking) gloves w/ a black outfit that is combat style, something similar to what you see w/ swat, not everyday clothes w/ "garden-looking" fingerless gloves .. Its obvious that this isn't "splinter cell, metal gear solid etc", so I guess it goes well w/ him .. That is a SUPERB shot up there, w/ the sparx & glass frags !!

Cool, yea I have a 19" LCD, big diff over the ancient 15" CRT I started out w/ years ago .. My other pc has a 17" CRT, I noticed the differences, truer black but its jus not as clear & vibrant as LCD.. I wanted to find a good deal on a HD, ATSC ready LCD tv.. Proly find a good one closer we draw to Christmas .. I plan to give my lil Nephew my near flat screen CRT for his gaming.., his is like proly a 19" old tv that is really bad color/text .. Mine is 26", couple yrs old .. Anyways, glad everything workt for ya! I made a new post but, have you found the sub-mission control ? Nope derek I've had no discernible improvement w/ the beta drivers .. Heck I'm still gettin textures kinda disappearing, no roads nothing in the distance, I got about every update my pc can have, lesee besides a new motherboard, 5000 Watt PS, 80 core cpu, 50GB Ram, 30 GB graphics card & DirectX 100 running on Win Siesta ... lol I was jus wasted in an explosion and was lockt out of vehicles .... oyyy

WOOHOO, Congrats!! I know what you mean, even after all my tweaking (hunting down software that I may be missing as in updates like framework etc) my pc is still experiencing textures that disappear after a lil play time... I still havent forced myself to buy more mem yet ... I lowered settings to almost nothing, it actually does look a lil more like console version then, but loox abit crappy, but the FRate is up, & atleast stuff doesnt take 8 seconds or more, like walls, fences & stuff to show infront of me while I'm running and all sudden WHAM... Well, I even dlded those new beta drivers, 180.84 NO CHANGE ... Someone remind me nex time I decide to buy a game like this, to be sure I have $50,000 to spare for a damn "gaming machine", lolol ... W/ things as they are, I may as well be using this near $1000 machine, for well, just addition & subtraction , lol ... Anyways, I had a new problem occur ... Eventho I understand & sympathize w/ RS cuz it is hard to do what they're tryin to do .. it still pisses ya off, I guess they're gettin a taste of how MS has felt w/ the 30,000 patches they've had to release over all their OS's through the years for security vulnerabilities, incompatabilities etc ... I got a post on it now but I got wasted in an explosion and I was locked out of vehicles, couldnt get in any, it suckt cuz the first vehicle I come upon was a bank truck ... O well, hmm I dint save atleast, lol ...

I was down on health, was in a car, caught fire, bailed but still ended up being wasted, after this, I was running around, found a dogon bank truck, figured I could get some quick cash, nope, wouldnt let me in, I tried to get in other vehicles, NIKO would jus stand there & twitch a little ... I also realize you DO have to be signed in to save, load your game, be nice if Rockstar would patch that OUT of the game ... Why must we be "monitored" while we play our game in a single player mode ? when I thought I read someplace "while playing offline...." so people who dont have net access can activate their game on a pc that DOES have net access but they can't ever save or load thier progress because they cant sign into WLive, that is ridiculous guys, I've been a lil tossy, back and forth, upset, but trying to understand, pisst but attempt to lighten the mood.. Man, I feel like this is something like a new invention "called the Internet" from many years ago, (the good, the bad & the ugly) ... Mehh, maybe it'll get better w/ patch(es) ..

Ok, yea, I'd try a couple things, proly first thing I'd do would be to uninstall new drivers & reinstall like you're doin. I'd remove all occurrence of them from the pc, sometimes you cant get rid of em w/ out a special utilities it seems, sometimes the manufacturer, like if you dld from Nvid or Ati, they MAY have something like a "clean uninstall" "complete driver removal tool" to totally clean out all reference to them so you can start fresh, sometimes this tool is recommended for removal of old drivers infact, b4 installing new ones. In my case, I dint have a tool, I used the uninstall in windows, seemt to suffice.. The thing that bugged me was, windows would automatically start trying to install the driver after reboot, usually it prompts you to finish installing it tho. I just exit out of that and manually install the new driver, the reason is, because apparently its trying to install a driver already on your system, either an old one or remnants of a newer one not removed from your system. Other thing they recommend, I remember did for mine, disable antivirus b4 running the new driver installation, they said this allows the driver to register properly .. Obviously I scan the driver file b4 disabling AV.. I also normally dis/cnct from the net, thats jus me being overly cautious... So, you might try gettin the new one out/reinstall, if same prob, maybe put an older one in to see IF the new drivers were indeed the problem. You have to check the driver version if you're not sure if its a new or old one, you can check the one "installed" in a few ways, one is, simply running DX diagnostics, in your Vista "Start search" box down there, typing "DxDiag.exe", click on display tab, shows driver version. To make the determination, I think you look at the latter portion, like my driver update was 180.48 and in the version it shows 75.......1.8048 ->180.48 ? so I THINK thats how its read, its weird but .. I guess its how it worx.. I'm not sure about that "newer one" on that site link 180.84 I dont guess thats a typo ? It is a beta I believe.. I really hope you can get things workt out Davesta, did you see where Rockstar had an interview w/ IGN about everything ? Its in a thread Chris made ...

Well, I was pleasantly surprised to see the interview, Ty for sharing Chris.. I am glad to see that they are looking at the problems w/ interest & are diligent in attempting to correct them. Thats just how its supposed to work when something like this happens. Granted I have an attitude like anyone that when I pay for something, I expect it to be, dare I say "trouble free", BUT reality then sets in, I realize NOTHING is 100% trouble free, jus look at "us" ^_~ I was pretty upset for sure but I dont hate Rockstar, they're trying, more testing, sure, more time, sure, but hey who had it ?? Man we were already fuming over wanting the game out NOW, then it got delayed & we were really "hot".. In a world of pc gaming, technology changing so rapidly and a game as complex as GTA IV, I can see why we have many problems now, look at VC & SA, they pale in comparison on the pc to GTA IV pc.. They really do have a valid point, I spose we could think of it this way, you can take 100 million users for example, each w/ an Xbox360 or PS3, now tell me, do ANY of those consoles vary in hardware/software from the manufacturer ??? Yet take the same 100 million users each w/ a PC, how many of those 100 million are the same in hard/software ?? You have countless brand and generic pc manufacturers, people building their own pc w/ varying components, w/ countless custom configurations, Rockstar can't possibly account for everything, so I can understand the pressure they feel now .. I'm glad that Rockstar is still passionate about working games for the pc, including the continued support for this one! I thought I read something about controller support implementation, is that in the coming patch or something existing ? I think for optimal enjoyment of the game, I need to be able to use a controller because the controls for the game via mouse/kybrd are abit too many, one of the most frustrating for me is, trying to control the camera w/ the mouse while I'm driving .. Someone told me once that to get MS's stamp of approval, is pretty pricey .. Thanx Rockstar for addressing the issues, many of us are trying to help out fellow gamers too!

Yw, do you have any like anti-SecuRom apps on your pc ? It seems some software like performance enhancers etc can have a negative affect, if you use dvd copy software, this could be causing a conflict w/ the security feature(s) of the game.. I know I've come across articles relating to SR errors, they related well some to crax, others activation, have you tried emailing their tech support about the securom issue ? There is a link on that page I gave you, about securom errors, basically is about activation, which inturn provides a link to support.. I looked through all of the links on the search you posted (even the foriegn ones, which I translated), I searched all of the GTA forums I know, but nothing. I've sent an email to Securom, and I'm waiting for a reply.I don't think it's any software on my PC causing it, as I had the game running yesterday. Well, kinda makes you wonder, if you had it running yesterday, what have you done different since then ? Apparently you installed the graphics drivers, you said that fixt the issues with those, so I'm assuming you're saying that once you uninstalled the old drivers, installed new ones, you could get in the game and you could see that the graphics issues you had were fixt by the new drivers ? Then you apparently quit playing at some point, tried to load up again and it now gives you the securom error ? Have you also checked to make sure your disc is clean, & that hopefully nothing else has access to the media drive that your game disc is in ? When it comes to that security stuff, its really fuzzy, jus seems like if you have an error w/ a security measure, then something is attempting to compromise that measure .. I don know, I dint design the game or its security.. I jus hate stuff like this, I want to help, brainstorm but can't figure it out, rrrrr ... Well, hopefully if you find a fix, you'll post back so someone w/ the same prob can fix it ..

Huh ? I thought I posted my reply already wha ... (hmm must go to Rockstar support & report this error too) lol =oP O well repost: Ty for the advice Crafty, you're the first! Goin abit in reverse now.. but to answer.. O no, its not condescending at all to suggest even what seems simple, sometimes its the simple things were forget! I did have all my drivers updated tho, ran into some problems here and there but ... Sound is onboard realtek, its up to date and no problems, heck I've had more problems w/ SB cards I've had in the past .. Not to down them but I really began to dislike SB products cuz I had SO many problems w/ their devices .. Yea I have AMD, never really considered using a cpu enhancement tool.. I did however, for the graphics card, RS's suggestion that it may have been at fault for glitchy graphics, possible but I dont think its the sole fault .. Thats been removed tho.. Believe it or not, I had checkt for Dx 10, mine was up to date, I checkt that in DxDiag Well, I know that social club is what it says, a social club, I dont think its a bad thing to have a club to meet, have events/contests and well it is required for the clip/vid upload ... I do think however, it SHOULD be an option to turn off, stop the popups ( popup blocker must be disabled lol ) Ofcourse the warnings ingame, are abit of a nuisance too.. As for online play w/ pc & consoles, I wouldnt think you could since the hardware is different & the maybe data encryption is, I know the systems are virtually connected across servers so, hmm, who knows but I'm also suspecting problems w/ the security features in the pc version, w/ ppl out their cracking it for piration so either it may end up denying them or causing system/server crashes.. Pc online is also up to 32 players I believe. Frankly, it seems a fantasy ? to play online w/ as much processing of data it will take w/ all the added players and action, knowing its hard enough for our machines to play by ourselves "locally".. who knows, maybe ?? I preordered mine at the local GS, I think its better, it seems so easy to dld things "while you're in you're pajamas" but I really wanted a hard copy, I sometimes prefer it that way cuz of the limitations imposed often times for digital data, just depends on the data.. Coolies, can't wait ta see, I'm now wanting a good controller, I play pc games but for this I need a controller I cannot stand moving the camera w/ the mouse, very awkward.. I have one but not sure if I can get it to work

O, well I dont know if I'm missing something or what but my RGSCLauncher, everytime I clickt on it, would popup w/ the error "RGSCLauncher.exe" has stopped working, so I found the launcher in my Rockstargames folder, right clickt, created a shortcut to put on the desktop, I then right clickt on the shortcut I put on the desktop, select properties & in the "target" field, at the end of the text, I typed -windowed no quotations around it or anything, jus like you see w/ the - and the word windowed, clickt ok, I clickt on it, it popt up w/ the service aggreement, I agreed, it the showed the next screen and I skipped sign in, up came "Play" click and it started the game ... Now IF social club tries to load up automatically, it gives me that same "RGSCLauncher stopped" error but clicking on my shortcut worx, so until I figure out if I'm missing a file or something, I can atleast play it this way ... Whoa, I dont understand your language but that first screen loox messt up, w/ the empty blocks inplace of text .. so I don know what it says , it loox hackt Mate .. Not sure how to help, perhaps if you can search google w/ some keywords OR if an actual error code of some sort pops up, might can search that .. As for the 2nd screen, I see the apps running are the game but ofcourse the processes is where you find stuff that is running that you can't "see" running in Programs.. If you don know what to terminate & what not, then I guess you have no choice but to leave stuff on. Sorry couldnt be of more help ..
