CroScorpion
What do you think is R* gonna use Directx 10 in GTA4. --------------------------------------------------------- This topic was Jaces idea Edited March 14, 2007 by CroScorpion
Gycu
I`m sure 80% that DX10 will be "in" GTA IV `cuz I`m sure we won`t see a PC version sooner than 2008.My guess is June 2008. EDIT:BTW What`s the difference between DX9 and DX10?I know that DX10 is better. Edited March 14, 2007 by Gycu
CroScorpion
DirectX 10 can't support any grafick card.
GTAPlayer
Well I have no idea what the difference is, but I know DirextX 10 is better as you mentioned. Anyway man, yeah the DirectX already supports the GeForce 8800 if I'm not mistaken. Edit: I mean, GeForce 8800 supports DirectX 10. Pandora
F, my post didn't get posted I'll make it again then, but then a little shorter DirectX 10 can't support any grafick card. A graphic card has to support DX 10, not DirectX Cards that ATM support it are: nVidia Gefore 8800 GTX nVidia Gefore 8800 GTS 640MB nVidia Gefore 8800 GTS 320MB So actually just the 8 series that are coming up. I'm not sure about ATi though. For the one who wants to know the difference. In short it just renders better. No matter how good the moddel is, DX 9 just can't show it that good. Especially things like fire, smoke, blasts ect. Here are pictures of the well known Fsim X A game with good graphics: Same but then with DirectX 10: Want to see this even better. Go here. Do note that the last pic is just concept art, but it gives a good idea. A good example of a game that's really going to take advatage of DirectX 10 is Crysis. Here is a render from humans in Crysis: BTW Cro: please edit the x in the title to an X I'm about sure that GTA IV will use DirectX 10 but will also be compatible with XP (DX 9) but without the really great effects. GTAPlayer
It really is a big difference between 9 and 10. I'm looking forward to see the review of the first game that will use DirectX 10, Crysis. Edited March 14, 2007 by GTAPlayer
CroScorpion
I was sure I've done that Jace and now I can't change it. And, yeah, there is a big diffrence between 9 and 10.
Pandora
I'll make a review and post it in the gaming section I'm so happy that I'm going to have a PC able to run it at max (don't count max reso though). So we'll have a nice TGTAP exclusive review. edit: Cro you can. Just edit your first post, there you also can do the title and poll stuff. Gycu
So along with the Windows Vista there is on the same disk DirectX 10? Edit:BTW Jace what type of PC do you have? How much RAM,VRAM and processor ,if you say that you`ll run GTA 4 at max? Pandora
I was talking about running Crysis at max. I hope at least. And you don't get a separate disc for DX. It's intergrated into the OS. I'm probably getting: nVidia Geforce 8800 GTX 768MB 2048 MB Ram Intel Duo Core2 6700 Vista Ultimate Asus P5N32 E SLI (maybe going to change that in my config though) OCZ 700 Watt GameXtream power suply I might upgrade some stuff though. Certainly Crysis will need better system specs then GTA.. I think. Edited March 14, 2007 by Jace
Putt
I don't think it's necessary to get Direct X 10 Direct X 9 can run many NextGen Games.. for example Splinter Cell Double Agent Rainbow Six Vegas and some other more...

Well how much is a 768MB graphics card? It`s expensive?Damn I will have 2GB of RAM too when GTA PC will come out(if).Cool PC.Guess I`ll buy myself 2GBof RAM and 512VRAM.Well yes Direct X 9 is still "good" but while DX10 is better we may need it in order to play GTA4 on our PCs. Pandora
I don't really want to update my graphic card. At max just adding another GTX. Giving me 1.5 gig of Vram. Splinter Cell Double AgentRainbow Six Vegas I don't really see those games as next gen. It's more just trying to get everything possible out of DX 9 And why would I take a graphic card with DirectX 9 now if I know that within games supporting DirectX 10 will be availible. And the GTX can play all DirectX 9 games at max (Again, don't know about reso, but all the other settings can).
CroScorpion
If they use DX 10 in GTA4 it would meen that less people can play it, think about this.
Pandora
No it doesn't. It only means people who DO have a good card can get far better graphics. It would be stupid not using it if it's availible. People with the older cards will be able to play it, but just not will all the extra next gen effects.
Jared
Xbox 360 is DirectX 10 isn't it? Either way, depends if there is a PC release or not I think.

GTAPlayer
Well as far as I know the only graphics card I know that support DirectX 10 is GeForce 8800, I'm not really good at this so I'm sure there's more. But yeah man, I think GTA IV will use DirectX 10.

Really, read my posts before quistioning. Well as far as I know the only graphics card I know that support DirectX 10 is GeForce 8800, I'm not really good at this so I'm sure there's more. But yeah man, I think GTA IV will use DirectX 10. The Geforce 8 series all use DX10, but the other cards haven't been released yet. Xbox 360 is DirectX 10 isn't it Doubt that. It needs a graphic card capable of DX10. The 360 uses a ATi card and they don't have any card supporting that. I don't even know if consoles actually even use DirectX.. Pandora
No, we will continue here. At least here it's game related. Then we will use your topic for stuff about video cards that support DX10, k. Edit: and you don't download DX10, you buy Vista with a 300 EUR graphic card at the minimum (that's the 8800 GTS 320MB). BTW, it would be stupid to upgrade now. No game supports it yet, the price is going to fall on April the 22nd and there isn't any good driver support yet.
