Sherman
Alright, so.. I finally got to install this gta3 that I've had for literally years. I turn it on, and it looks fine. The first cutscene goes by really fast, and there's no audio (it's lagging behind the words) Then again on the first mission cutscene. And then, I realized it did it on the actual gameplay too. It like, fast forwards, basically. I'm on my new machine (Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.2gh, 2 gigs of RAM, and an onboard 64mb gfx) and have no idea what's wrong. Any suggestions on what to do to fix this or if the vid card is the problem would be apprecatied. Sky
chris82
Well the video card sucks but that processor compensates for it, try messing with the frame limiter and frame sync options in the 'display setup' options menu.
Urbanoutlaw
I pulled this out of the "Readme for GTA 3 Supported Operating Systems: Grand Theft Auto III uses Microsoft DirectX 8.1. Supported Operating Systems are: Windows 98 Windows 98 Second Edition Windows Millennium Windows 2000 Professional (Workstation) Windows XP (Home and Professional) Recommended Hardware Requirements 700(+) MHz Intel Pentium III or AMD Athlon processor 128(+) MB of RAM 8 speed CD / DVD drive 700 MB of free hard disk space 32(+) MB DirectX 8.1 hardware video card DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card with surround sound Gamepad (USB or Joystick Port) Keyboard Mouse I don't know how much help it'll be but you could try setting the compatibility (right click on the GTA3 icon, PROPERTIES) to a lower operating system. Have also seen mention of setting games to only use one processor to slow them down, but can't offer a lot of help, still using a single chip. Suppose I'll get that sorted after my next upgrade. Urbanoutlaw
This just in http://www.majorgeeks.com/CPU_Speed_Adjuster_d5160.html Got a friend that found this, might help curb the Super-Hyper-Nitro-Turbo effect. He says your problem looks like what you'd expect form running an older game on a newer dual processor machines.

Urbanoutlaw
The task manager makes sense, I can't confirm as I'm running a single chip. Good lookin' out, MrLlamaLlama (unless you're wrong then it's BAD MONKEY!!!)
CroScorpion
Maybe this is stupid but if your gameplay is fast maybe you should find cheat on internet to slow down the gameplay. But for the cutscenes I don't know.

Urbanoutlaw
Just dusted off GTA 3 my self. You get stuck, you know where to find me.
Sherman
Well, it's back. The suggestion helped quite a bit, but I still have Claude really "speeding" xD I'll be running and all the sudden he'll get a rush of speed and hit a wall and die. Kinda funny, if I find out how to try before I try the thing UO said to do, I'll record it.
