mvi
Today, I started work on the ultimate San Andreas modding tool. You may say that it's a bit early considering the PC version isn't out, but after comparing SA's files with the pc and ps2 vc files, I reckon that my tool will be fully compatible with the PC release. Anyway, the tool will be made on Visual Basic, if anyone has experience with this language and wants to help please reply or pm me. Thanks. I'll post screens of my work as I progress. Included in the tool will be my plotting tool that I mentioned months ago, in case any of you wonder what happened to that.
Chris
Sounds good... what tasks exactly will this modding tool be able to perform?
mvi
To start, it will be quite basic, editing things like what pedestrians and cars spawn in each area as well as car standard colours. Progessing to handling editors and other dat file editing and eventually moving to 3d hopefully. Incuded will be an installation system for normal mods
Chris
Nice. By normal mods do you mean cars, like it would replace dff and txd files or something?
mvi
Yes, if I can get help with the IMG archives by someone like barton
Bryzed
Thats a 'huge' project, i'm willing to help in anything, i dont know to much about VBasic, but i have started with it a few weeks ago, so i could use this as a learning experience.lol, dont worry, i dont tend to screw things up
mvi
Well as long as you have VBasic 6. It'll be helpful if you have a dvd rom or rw on your pc with a copy of SA, for the source files as well as msn. I'll see what I can find that's quite simple to do for you. Thanks. mvi
Yay double post. Anyway, this is what the main screen will look vaguely like. Since I've already made tons of parts of the program seperately, I'm now just putting them together. And trying to add more features. Chris
Well, it sounds as if you are creating an incredibly useful tool. If everything works out correctly, which I hope it does. A lot of people will use this. Then when you die this tool will become known as a legendary piece of programming for its usefulness towards modding San Andreas. mvi
I'm not planning to die soon, but moi making a legendary software would be awesome. Though, I found out today when some of my emails cam back with replies that I'm going to have to program it in three different languages. Only one of which I know. Airashii
Yeah it looks and sounds very impressive, I wish you the best of luck with it.
mvi
At the mo, I'm trying to build a memory searcher like t-search that accesses other programs data, which I will use to break my way into San Andreas to build a trainer and some other stuff. Though that part won't be released until a few weeks after SA PC release.

Bryzed
You're willing to translate my entire text content? Sure dude, if i can help in anything... sure EDIT he said programming languages not verbal languages.MVI, are the languages C++ and Delphi you need to learn? He asked me if i could translate it, so i think it was more in verbal language than programming languages Edited February 27, 2005 by Bryce
mvi
I'd love language translations. Though the level I'm making this program at, you need serious experience at VBasic so it'll probably be just me programming that interface.
Bryzed
i dont have serious experience, but theres always time to learn, and i have done things with php, asp, html, java and stuff, so i think i have an idea. Well, just send me a pm with your msn, so we can talk it further.

mvi
BREAKTHROUGH!!!!!! I now have found my way in to the in-game variables, of gta 3 and vc. SA can't be that different, so I think I'll have the trainer module finished a couple of weeks after PC release.
Chris
w00t, thats good, although it would suck if they changed SA a lot from the way gta3 and vc were done.
mvi
The only problem being that, the codes changed from gta 3 to vc, meaning that there's a 99% chance they will change for SA. But I'll create a search program that tests them until I figure it out. Though things like longest stoppy distance will confuse me tons and most of the codes will probably crash my game
