TomNeckermann
The newest game in the series, Grand Theft Auto IV, holds a record in the Guinness Book of World Records, breaking the previous record by Halo 3 in overall sales within the 24 hour mark of the game's launch. GTA IV attained another record too for being the fastest selling entertainment software, selling 3.6 million copies on the first day of it's release. On the first day alone GTA IV had raked in an entire $310 million dollars. About twice as much as Halo 3's earnings on release day, with an average of $170 million dollars. Well done Rockstar and congratulations for this achievement! Edited May 14, 2008 by TomNeckermann
the_dude420
I am very pleased to read this. This means our favorite game developers have a whole bunch of cash which will lead to more advanced games in the future.

mutu
GTA 5 will be close to perfect if it gets released. IV and Rockstar deserve a spot in Guinness Record Book, good work Rockstar Edited May 15, 2008 by mutu
XxGreatScythexX
Yeah that is good to hear, but you have to take into account that Halo 3 was only available for one system and GTA 4 was on two. Since the record sales were exactly double what Halo 3 was that could mean if Halo 3 was released for both systems it would have sold almost the same amount as GTA 4. I'm not a Halo 3 fanboy at all, I'm just getting this through cause everyone is so excited that it destroyed Halo 3 sales wise. It was actualy a genius idea to put the game out on both systems...look how much money they made!
surrealistic ArtSweet
i'm not so surprised, R*games is phenomenal and they deserve that spot. after all Halo 3 was for xbox 360 only, there is no way Halo can win. i can't wait to see what other sandbox action games has to offer such as saints row 2 and the getaway my bet is they can't beat IV, ever!
