GTA Don
Okay, well I installed a new graphics card today (SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 3450) and my games have been running like a dream so far. But, one thing, I can't hear any sound at all. I first noticed this issue when I was playing SA and I couldn't hear the sound. Then I tried out a YouTube vid and still silent. No, I didn't mute the volume. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Chris
Turn your speakers on. Sorry I had to No but seriously check they are actually plugged in. Perhaps you accidentally knocked your sound card out of its slot when installing your graphics card? Or the speakers aren't plugged into your sound card fully, or they're in the Mic jack or something?
GTA Don
I don't have speakers. My PC's connected to ma 26" HDTV via a green and blue cable. I think my sound card has... changed, I'm not sure. It used to be some Realtek thingy but now it's changed to ATI HD audio rear output or something.
MrLlamaLlama
If your Video card is one of these crazy all in wonder cards, it may well have the audio built in. Check the ports at the back for pink / green cables, or the yellow (?) composite cable jack.
Pandora
Go into your BIOS and disable that Realtech thing if you want your card to take over (if it's possible..)
GTA Don
I think my sound card is onboard. I read that the VGA card might try and take over as the sound card so I tried going into my BIOS to go back to the onboard sound but it came up with a blank screen. WRX22B1998
u would probably be able to disable one or the other, or choose the appropriate one (mayb just stick with onboard) with Device Manager run -> "devmgmt.msc" then expand um "sound video and game controller" then right click on whatever you want to not use, and click disable. and then play some music to make sure its all still good and everything works... it might help to just plug some headphones or whatever in to test, before you connect it all back up. GTA Don
I tried that. There was only one sound device on there though: ATI Function Driver for High Definition Audio - ATI AA01. My PC just shows a blank screen every time I try to enter the BIOS, not sure why.
WRX22B1998
o... so on your graphics card there would be audio out (green)... so plug everything in there right?
GTA Don
Yeah, checked now. Still doesn't work.
GTA Don
It's fixed! I took my computer down to PC World today and they asked me to set it up, I entered the BIOS and changed the onboard sound back to enabled (it was in auto mode before) and it's working now! Just had to disable the non-working sound device.

GTA Don
It might have been because of my fat-ass monitor, not sure how that would cause a problem though. It worked on their 15"(?) monitor though...
