Are you unchecking it, then closing the window, or hitting "Apply" or "Okay"? You need to hit either Apply or Okay, just closing it doesn't save any changes.

No, but there's an X at the top of the window, and I've known a lot of people who were in the habit of hitting that.

Spaz, I sincerely hope that's not what he's doing.

Another suggestion though - Some folders enforce inherited properties, meaning, it doesn't matter if you change a sub-folder, the changes will not successfully change unless you deselect the Inherit option on the folder above it (or the one above that). It's a long shot though.

Whoa, I didn't say you were wrong... I simply stated that I hoped that he wasn't just hitting the close button, as that would be rather daft.

Again, you're making assumptions. It isn't daft, I've seen plenty of people do it. My dad use to be in the habit of doing it, now he just annoys me because he has to hit apply then okay every time.
