German magazine Games Aktuell have reviewed Grand Theft Auto IV and given their verdict on the game. The review is actually based on their preview sessions at R* earlier and not on the final retail version of the game, though they still include the review screenshots (seen in OXM and OPM).

  • Graphics: 9/10
The gigantic size of the city makes you forget the few graphical imperfections of the game.
  • Sound: 10/10
Best GTA soundtrack ever, and probably the most compelling feature in the game.
  • Controls: 8/10
Far from perfect but a big step from the previous GTA games.
  • Multiplayer: 9/10
Great concept and innovative integration with the single-player mode.
  • Gameplay: 10/10
    We can't score it 11/10...
  • Conclusion:
GTA4 is by far the best action game ever created.

Thanks for the heads up Scott.

If the controls scored 8/10, I wonder what they are and what makes them so bad...

And it's obvious the Gameplay deserves more than 10/10.

10 more days!

The controls for all GTA games were not too good but it was still easy to get used to them and i dont think it matters that much as the gameplay itself. Obvioulsy the graphic is not 10/10.

Can't wait! Im a bit suprissed that they didn't give it a higher score on the controls. Even though I have no idea what the control looks like I had a good time with the old controls which I though was good.

I personally thought that the old controls were excellent so i am curious to find out what improvements have been made. Will added extras such as an improved mobile phone etc it could be to do with that. So close now to launch day!!!

Not necessarily. There must be a option to select the old controls to play with.

I think the review is pretty fair, of course graphics aren't perfect contrary to what some think.

honestly. i don't give a rats ass about graphics. i wasn't bovered about San Andreas' graphics unlike some. i thought they were perfect on PC... but i guess im an oldskool gamer. im going off now to play Nightfire, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Space Invaders... they just get older!
