Petition to Open Source GTA1 and GTA2

It was brought to my attention today that a petition has been made for Rockstar Games to make both GTA1 and GTA2 open source. For those of you not familiar with programming terminology, this means that the source code (basically the code that makes the game work) will be made viewable to anyone who wants it.

This would be invaluable to modders and programmers alike, who would be able to make modifications to ultimately improve the playabilty of the games much more easily than before.

Topic starter drwbns sums it up well.

Creating enhancements such as improving gameplay physics, weapons, and netcode could be a start and would show the GTA community contributing back and showing their support for old favorites.

The original topic on our forums can be found here, more importantly, head over to Petition Online to sign the petition, remember to use a valid email address too.

Thanks for the support everyone!

Rockstar Games have finally annouced the release date for the Playsation 2 version of Liberty City Stories.

Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. I haven't updated you with MTA news for a while now, but Deathmatch is progressing smoothly, and a spectator mode I understand has now be written for deathmatch and is working well.

Deathmatch will also feature ping compensation, explained below.

Shooting might still need some tweaks to work optimally but we're really happy with how it looks, and hell it's accurate. Ping compensation for shooting basically means you can hit moving players pretty accurately by aiming at them rather than trying to predict their future path to hit them. The on-foot sync is also very smooth. As far as I can tell, it's very close to Singleplayer smooth, also when running. Vehicle smoothness is also improved significantly from Race 1.1.1.

I've also added a mirror for MTA Race v1.1.1 in our downloads database, download it here.

As well as that, I added a mirror for gtaT 0.3c, which you can download here

In other MP news, GTA Rumble 0.2a has been released, apparently their 20 player stress-test went well, with any crashes occuring have been fixed, you can find download links to this at GTARumble.co.uk, remember this one is still in early beta stages so don't raise your expectations.

New Design - Happy Easter

It's been needed for a very long time, and they're finally here, the new designs for The GTA Place. Made by yours truly, I have been working on these all last week, and everything is looking good. So here it is, your Easter present.

All the pages should work, also we're planning on updating our outdated content in the next few weeks too so we'll be an all round better GTA resource. If you notice any bugs on any pages, or would just like to leave feedback please do so by commenting on this topic. I'd appreciate the constructive criticism as well.

This is version 4.0 of The GTA Place, yes our fourth major design change, inspired by my redesign of my Alan Wake fan site. This one should be here to stay for quite some time, and we now have different styles for each GTA game, or most of them anyway.

So, enjoy the new and improved website!

NOTE about cookies - We had to edit the cookie settings for the forum a little bit so everyone will have been logged out, you can just login again though. This is because I wanted to personalise the site a little more, so now when logged in the main site will give you useful links to the forum on the left menu, or will display a login box if you are not logged in.

The welcome back message will also be personalised as you may well have already noticed.

By the way if you're seeing old stretched logo's or other weird stuff, clear your cache and temporary files, or press CTRL + F5 to hard refresh the page.

I have been playing alot of GTA Liberty City Stories lately on my PSP and found a neat little weapon in the game that I just had to have in San Andreas. This Mod will change your Cane into a Hockey Stick, your Grenades into Hockey Pucks and your Slappers Hockey Jersey into a NHL Jersey.
