  1. Alright, so here are the clocks I'll stay with: 702 Core, 1584 Shader, and 1269 Memory. Even better than EVGA's FTW addition which sees 712 Core, 1512 Shader and 1260 Memory. That posted 11286 in FurMark over the original 10400.
  2. I'd try it. 6% doesn't seem huge, but I really can see a small difference in FSX. By small I mean like an improvement from 8-13 FPS to 9-15 FPS, which clearly is more than 6%.
  3. Well here's the data I took: GPU Overclocking Experiment.txt As you can see, I got pretty good results. That's probably as far as I'm going to go though. After 700, I began increasing the Core in intervals of 5 while running FurMark to see how high I could go before it crashed. (My temps were always fine) I got to 720. When I clicked apply with 725, the app froze and Vista told me it had to reset the Display Driver. Luckily I didn't have to reboot. As for the memory, I haven't tried maxing it out yet, but I may amp it up to around 1280, since it seems to have a large affect on the overall performance. What do you guys think? As for me, I'm gonna go enjoy FSX overclocked!
  4. 50 cent! Core i7 that dies after 1 year or Q9550 that lasts forever?
  5. Took me a while to realize that SparkIV can also import/export textures..... Oh and to make it fun, let's see if somebody can correctly list the names to all the programs you see in the quick launch and the system tray.
  6. A single GTX275 (and a i7) is a LONG way ahead of a 3.2GHz Pentium4 and a 7300. I realize this, but a few people on this site made it sound like you needed like quad-sli GTX 295s to get 20FPS on high..... A specific quote that sticks in my head was when somebody big here (Chris?) said that High Graphics in the game was reserved for future technology. That makes it sound a bit more than a GTX 275. And the game only uses like 20-50% of my i7.....
  7. Aren't they like... they same files?
  8. tea, tried coffee once and hated it. Turbo 4cyl or V8 ? V8. Ford or Chevy?
  9. OK, so I have this car I want to transfer to IV from VC. Trouble is, I have no clue how to take the .col, .dff, and .txds and convert them to IV format of .wft and .wtd. Can someone explain to me how to do this? Thanks. P.S., if it's really hard to do can I upload the files and somebody convert them for me, by any chance?
  10. One word: upgrade. I've seen cases of people running IV on a Pentium IV, but it isn't optimal enough for everyday use. The same goes for the video card; I had one and it does suck big time. Upgrading to at least Core 2 Duo and a 9500GT may help, but most of us here strongly recommend a quad-core, lots of RAM and an 8800GT. The game really isn't quite as resource intensive as some made it out to be. By bypassing the memory restrictions, I can put every Graphics option to the Max/on whatever it is and get 35-50 FPS with my SINGLE GTX 275 that isn't OC'd.
  11. This post is a complete win. You'd have to have something pretty wrong with you to create a fail post in a topic like this!
  12. No, IV doesn't run your PC, your PC runs IV. Well, actually not your PC. You need better hardware!
  13. I wanna see easier modding for the PC like it was in Vice City and San Andreas..... Plus every patch seems like it intentionally sabotages modding ability.
  14. I bought my 120GB Classic 9 months ago for $240. Apparently there's a new one out that holds 160GB and costs $240. The iPod uses a Lithium-ion battery. Lithium, obviously, will catch fire and explode when it comes into contact with water vapor. (Obviously there's lots of this in the air) Unfortunately for the iPod, it relies solely on the external structure to protect the battery. So whenever there's even a small imperfection in the outside of the iPod, the water vapor (air) can get in and react with the battery, causing it to explode.
  15. So whats the point of 1792MB if windows only finds 512 ? lol. Anyway, I'd probably say 8500GT. NVIDIA never did a whole lot to distinguish the 9*** and 8*** series. The 9800 is pretty much the same as the 8800.
  16. Just .MPG files with the MPEG2 codec yeah. Just so I can be notified, is it illegal to copy movies you own? I'm not selling them or anything.
  17. DVDs only. They're really easy to copy and BDs are pretty much impossible with Freeware.
  18. MPEG Backups. Fun to be able to just click two buttons and watch any of my movies on demand.
  19. Home Videos, Backups of my Movies, etc. Plus 10 minutes of FRAPS is like 20GB...... And I record LOTS of TV.
  20. I only have 1 HDD Slot/ SATA Slot left. Plus, a 2TB Drive is $180 and a 1TB Drive is around $85-95. Not really much difference in value.
  21. Hey guys, I'm gonna be buying another Hard Drive (2TB) and I was wondering if I should go with the Seagate Barracuda LP 2TB or the WD Caviar Green 2TB. I was originally gonna go with the WD because it's the manufacturer of my current hard drive and has always been my favorite (Notice the Signature). But lately I've been swayed towards the Seagate for 3 reasons: 1) It's Cheaper; $180 vs. $210 2) Supposedly it's a little faster in overall I/O Throughput 3) It has better reviews; 66% 5-Star reviews and 8% 1-Star reviews for the Seagate 63% 5-Star reviews and 14% 1-Star reviews for the WD So should I stick to my WD loyalty or fall into the clutches of Seagate and buy their HDD?
