This is still true. Here in my country, it was reported in our local news (TV Patrol) that is was also known as April Fool's virus. It was really started on November last year, and it is still continuing to infect computers. They said that even if you turn off your computer or if you don't go to the internet, it will still activate. They also said that Microsoft is giving $250000 to those who can give them information abut the author of the virus. They also said that it can control your own personal settings in your computer incuding passwords, etc.
