That's exactly the idea. If this was three years ago, Steam and Raybob would have been banned without a second thought. This is designed to show them that they can either improve or leave - it's their choice. If things don't improve, then the ban option will be used.

Hmm I'm not sure it's that simple. Chris is quite feminine.... We'll work something out regarding that award.

Well we did have the awards topic open for a week, and I replied to your suggestions, to which you didn't disagree.

So what do you think about the 2009 TGTAP Awards? Discuss them to your hearts' content in here, please keep the other topics clear! Talk about the award list, the nominations, who you think should win etc.

If you would like to take part in the Hottest Member award 2009, please post pictures of yourself in this topic. You can post up to 3 pictures of yourself. It must be clear which person in the picture is you. The pictures must be of you, not celebrities. The pictures must be clean and family-friendly. No nudity. If you would like to upload pictures, you can do that here. Please note that this topic is NOT for voting, it is only for submissions. Please keep discussion in this topic.

UPDATE: Nominations have now closed Welcome to the official nomination topic for the 2009 TGTAP awards. Please reply to this topic using the following list, and give ONE username next to each award. Do not nominate more than one person for any award. You don't have to nominate someone for every award - just the ones you have an opinion on. You can't nominate yourself for any of these. Please do NOT discuss nominations in this topic. They should go in the separate discussion topic. The only posts in this topic should be nominations. To nominate yourself for Hottest Member, please use this topic Note that some categories have certain requirements, such as not being able to nominate staff. These are [noted] next to the title. GTA Awards Most Knowledgeable (GTA Portables): Most Knowledgeable (Classic GTAs): Most Knowledgeable (GTA 3 Era): Most Knowledgeable (GTA IV Era): Most Knowledgeable (Modifications): Best Member Awards Most Respected Member: [Not staff] Most Respected Staff Member: [Staff] Best Forum Boss: [Boss] Most Helpful Member: Most Intelligent Member: Best Debater: [best contributions to serious discussions] Highest Quality Posts: Most Improved Member: Best New Member of 2009: [Joined since December 2008] Random Awards Funniest Member: Biggest Geek: Most Original Username: Most Missed Member: [who is no longer active] Member You'd Most Want to Meet: Creative Awards Best Avatar: Best Signature: Best Graphics Designer: Best Creative Writing: Copy the above list into your post, and put a name after each line. For example: Most Knowledgeable (GTA Portables): Steve The deadline for nominations will be over the next week or two, so make sure you get your nominations in quickly! There will also be a few surprise awards, so watch out for those!

No need for swearing in topic titles - that shows up on the front page of the forum. Keep it down.

Its fail because you can't go back to 2007? Firstly, it's a beta, it's for testing, you aren't supposed to install it in a production environment. If you care about keeping 2007, then run 2010 in a VM or something.

I didn't forget, still working on the technical challenge of that. It would require additional (low-level) code to increment a new field every time you made a (non-fun-and-offtopic) post, which is possible. But if a post got deleted (or moved to offtopic), then your count would continue to include that (without doing a rebuild of the post database). Also, doing this to start with means going through the post database 30,000 times; which is hugely resource intensive. Probably not going to happen.

Most Responsible Staff Member - We have "Most Respected Staff Member", which is probably better. 90% of the time you guys don't see who moderates what (deleting spam topics, fixing newbie mistakes), so it would be hard for you to see who was doing the best job. Respect is a much broader concept which depends entirely on your perception of staff. Best GTA Player - How would members here know who was good at playing GTA? Only the idiots who brag about how good they are, the few that have gameplay videos. Multiplayer is still a bit too small-scale - its not as if someone will have played against every nominee and know who is best. I could see "Best Gameplay Video" happening though. Favorite Forum - I assume you mean "Favourite Subforum" - not a bad idea, but it's probably going to be a private gang subforum (voted in by gang members only) or the fun-and-offtopic subforum. Neither of which are useful results. Favourite GTA Subforum would be a bit boring too. Maybe if we restricted nominations or did entire forum sections (eg GTA vs General Discussion vs Gangs) this could work. Most Hated Member - No. I could give that to you in the form of a ban if you like though? Most Helpful/Respected Forum Boss - I like the idea of a forum boss award, but it is likely to be a popularity contest. Most Hated Moderator - No. Undermining staff makes this forum a very dangerous place. I'm happy to have a fun award for staff, such as "Most Nooby Staff Member" or maybe even "Least Professional" something, but nothing abusive or personal.

Posts in fun-and-offtopic do not count towards your total to prevent people just spamming in there to increase their postcount. This happened a lot in the past, and the people who spammed all day in fun-and-games were getting hundreds of posts a day, and others were spamming there just to get high postcounts just to look cool. Both of these completely undermines the legitimate, helpful posts of this GTA forum. Fun-and-offtopic is moderated only for explicit/harmful content, unlike the rest of the forum, where posts have to also be useful/relevant. We will not be reversing this just so you can have a high postcount - which is exactly what you are asking for in this topic. We will not be revealing the "real" postcount that includes these non-counting posts, as that would only achieve the same thing. Show me how doing this would benefit anyone?

Obviously we've been using 2010 for quite a while in msft, and I like it. Beta is pretty stable too (compared to technical preview). Outlook is great (especially with the new Exchange 2010 features), everything else has been improved. I know this isnt strictly Office, but Sharepoint 2010 is cool (but very complicated). I personally contributed to this release too, by working with the team to fix some bugs FYI UK Students can buy Office for £38 from here.

Today we have the start of two exciting ventures for TGTAP. The process for the 2009 awards has started. Check out the proposed list of awards and let us know your suggestions. Over the next few weeks we'll have nominations and voting, but help us decide exactly which awards we should be running. For example, we've suggested adding awards for Most Missed Member and Member you'd most want to meet. Also, we've added the new International Forum, where you can discuss GTA or other things in the language of your choice. Just remember to start each topic with the relevant language code, such as [EN] or [DE]. Enjoy!

These are the award categories we have come up with so far for the 2009 awards: Voting + nominations are not yet open Most Knowledgeable (GTA Portables) Most Knowledgeable (Classic GTAs) Most Knowledgeable (GTA 3 Era) Most Knowledgeable (GTA IV Era) Most Knowledgeable (Modifications) Most Respected Member Most Respected Staff Member Most Missed Member Most Helpful Member Most Intelligent Member Most Improved Member Best New Member of 2009 Hottest Member Funniest Member Most Original Username Biggest Geek Member You'd Want to Meet Best Avatar Best Signature Best Graphics maker Best Creative Writing Tell us what you think and if you have any ideas!
-
Welcome to the new TGTAP International Forum, where you talk about GTA in your own language! Start every topic with a two-letter code for the language, such as [EN] or [FR]. Please stick to one language in each topic. Have fun!

I'm sure you could repeat the experiment without using swear words.

Capable of answering for ourselves thanks. Hiring of Bosses is ongoing, it's just not something we can do immediately with no consideration. We'll tell you if we do want you to be a boss. If you don't hear from us, it's probably that we currently don't need a Boss for your specialis areas, or we think you're not suitable right now for the position. Raybob, you fit into the latter category there.

TGTAP has lost its old spirits !
Gerard replied to Alvas.'s topic in Suggestions / Help / Bug Reporting
Whoah hang on. You're talking about automatic translations, a new staff level, a new reporting system. Let's bring it back down a notch. Do we know how many people visit TGTAP wanting to get information in another language? Obviously if we had this provision it would increase, but is there a demand? Is the speak-in-your-own-language topic heavily used? I agree, start with one 'TGTAP International' sub-forum, enforce [DE] ISO language codes at the start of each topic title. If this gets heavy use, split off some subforums. If we need to introduce official bilingual helpers, we can do that, but I would have thought they'd regularly visit the subforums anyway, and the ISO code search should make it easy. -

TGTAP has lost its old spirits !

Why would they sign up to see the general discussion stuff? If they're not part of the community, then they won't be interested to see S-V's computer specs or photos of maco or Sherbert's Xmas list. The ideas above are all about tricking users into signing up. That's not what we need. We need users to WANT to sign up, which many don't. When they do sign up, we need them to WANT to return and continue posting. -
When you first enter a Hydra, it is in vertical-takeoff mode. You need to rotate the jets to face the back. You do this by pushing the right analog stick forward/back, and on a PC by holding down 8 on the number pad, or Del.
